Yea this is sort of getting out of hand. I don't necissarily agree with their selections either, and I worked way harder on my recording than my video - It seems to me that most of us took this contest way too seriously, they evidently were looking for more of a Nevermore fanboy than a real singer. i don't necessarily agree with matt smith getting picked either, but only because he's already an industry professional. his religion is his own business, whether or not he sings about it, as is Warrel's. i think it's good for people to be able to look past one anothers' religious or political ideologies and appreciate one another for our personalities. just because warrel disagrees with matt about religion and christianity doesn't mean he has to dislike the guy or discount him as a musician.

@OlafChujko I don't want to blow any whistles preemptively or anything, but Orbsonb posted on the ultimatemetal forum that he got a response frome metalsucks claiming himself as the winner. Dunno if it's official or not tho.
Yeah, also - don't forget Warrel Dane is one of the judges now, imagine how busy he must be with an album release just a month away. This could be a while... I could imagine this is one of the most difficult things to judge as there are so many variables to take into account... "studio magic" is something that can really make a good vocal performance great, and to look through it objectively is a daunting task to say the least...
@Powershift3r I would imagine that any contest involving an art form would be difficult to judge. Sure, some of the entries are obviously better than others, but when you reach a certain point it just comes down to personal opinion. I say let these guys take as long as it's necessary to make their choices. I'm sure that listening to all these things over and over again and picking them apart is not enjoyable haha.
yet I think we should give those guys some time, as they aprooved the last videos just now, I guess they started going through this today, and as there's almost 50 entries, that sums up to about 4 hours of music... I guess it takes some time to go through an entry and assess all the aspects... I guess I'm gonna live it untill Wednesday or so, it's getting on my nerves really... ;-)
Yeah, it's kinda weird, that alot of responses haven't been accepted yet. It's a pretty big thing, this whole competition, so you would think it was all done as soon as possible. I worked pretty hard on my entry, as did you all most likely, so I sure hope our stuff joins the responses.
Even though Nevermore's version kicks all kinds of ass, it still sounds a bit odd to me. Since it's the weekend, Vince and Axl are probably just chillin'. I wouldn't expect a response before next week. Lets hope they take the time to listen to every single entry.
After hearing the entries and Nevermore's official version, I'd say Orbsonb has the best "Create Your Own" entry. Not only did he closely match their style, but the vocals were well-done, and the lyrics were memorable right after the first listen. Nevermore's version is incredible, and it's great how the lyrics came together in the final version.
@MisterLococco i dunno, i like mine (haha) but there are a bunch of awesome entries. the ones that aren't in the replies section just haven't been approved by vince yet. he's probably too busy doing "important" things like "working" to log in...the lazy bastard.

@HeavenInReverse agreed! i was really surprised by how many people entered and how many of the entries were awesome (including yours, for sure!) no matter what the outcome is, i think this contest was a ton of fun for everyone involved.
What this seems to be boiling down to is a matter of opinion... orbsnorb's is no worse than matt smith's, orbsnorb just went for the warrel dane signature "operatic head voice" sound, where matt smith took it in his own power metal direction, which inherantly is a more impressive sound due to the range it demands. I tried to do sort of a little bit of everything. Which is best is up to the judges :)

@orbsonb well you're taking for granted that the criteria for the judges will be solely the performance. First of all I think that yours is more than fine, and the writing is a few notches above most other contributions. It fits stylistically, and the humour of the video adds positively. So, be careful what you wish for, it might just come true ;-)

Yeah, it's kinda weird, that alot of responses haven't been accepted yet. It's a pretty big thing, this whole competition, so you would think it was all done as soon as possible. I worked pretty hard on my entry, as did you all most likely, so I sure hope our stuff joins the responses.

Even though Nevermore's version kicks all kinds of ass, it still sounds a bit odd to me. Since it's the weekend, Vince and Axl are probably just chillin'. I wouldn't expect a response before next week. Lets hope they take the time to listen to every single entry.

After hearing the entries and Nevermore's official version, I'd say Orbsonb has the best "Create Your Own" entry. Not only did he closely match their style, but the vocals were well-done, and the lyrics were memorable right after the first listen. Nevermore's version is incredible, and it's great how the lyrics came together in the final version.

What this seems to be boiling down to is a matter of opinion... orbsnorb's is no worse than matt smith's, orbsnorb just went for the warrel dane signature "operatic head voice" sound, where matt smith took it in his own power metal direction, which inherantly is a more impressive sound due to the range it demands. I tried to do sort of a little bit of everything. Which is best is up to the judges :)

@orbsonb well you're taking for granted that the criteria for the judges will be solely the performance. First of all I think that yours is more than fine, and the writing is a few notches above most other contributions. It fits stylistically, and the humour of the video adds positively. So, be careful what you wish for, it might just come true ;-)
