  • where can i buy the uncut version?

  • I want to see it but scared! I now want to see those 30 mins...the fact they turned her into a duck is scary!! Another movie that recently creeped me out to was Eraserhead.

  • i have found the website for the original script

  • it will not be lost if we find the uncensored version of it

  • we are not scared of the original ending

  • we will find the ending no matter what it takes

  • i wanna watch it uncensored and videotape it

  • we will find the uncut version by using a time machine

  • the human duck part still gives me nightmares. i mean its like.. what the fuck did they do to her??

  • i wanted to see the uncut version too

  • They must've restored the talking ending at some point because the version I got from NetFlix had the "Don't cry, Hans" and all that came before it. However, I really want to see the ending with Hercules singing falsetto.

  • i´ve been wanting to see this film for years!

  • @MetalBen I got it from NetFlix - the wait was a LOT shorter with them than with Blockbuster. (I'd actually would've had to wait two years to see it through them. It took less than a week with NetFlix.) Plus you can buy it from Amazon for around $14.

  • Well thank you audiences of 1932 for ruining the film for us. I still is creepy, but it would be awesome to too the original ending.

  • How did they turn her into the duck again?

  • @AlienBeliever897 they melted her hands to look like duck feet, they tarred and feathered her under body and the no legs was done by the tree

  • The human duck looked really freaky.

  • One of my favorite films; I'm saddened that still to this day, this film is not as appreciated as it should be!

  • "offend one, and you offend them all"

  • Those of us movie fans who crave a truly original movie get that and a whole lot more out of this classic screen gem.

  • In the Australian copy of the film, you see the second last ending.

  • where do I find those missing 30 minutes?

  • @misantropicall lost in history, noone really knows as far as I know.

  • Disturbing! Hans (Harry Earles) and Frieda (Daisy Earles) were brother and sister in real life.

  • I love Freaks. I someday want to find the original ending

  • This film was fantastic, I strongly urge people to look up the actors involved and check their histories, particularly the 'no limbed' man and Schlitze, they had fascinating lives. :)

  • that poor poor duck woman...

    bitch had it comin though

  • there's a remake?

  • this is a great film,the remake...much more gory

  • @pikachops wrap your big rubbery lips around my dick and let me squirt off into the back of your throat.

  • @pikachops There was a remake? O_O Please god no

  • Sorry, my mistake.

  • What's wrong with the sound?

  • The original ending sounded great ! I never did like the ending in the final cut of the movie... This is still the best horror movie that Browning ever made (far better than his overrated "Dracula").

  • Each re-cut is WORSE than the last. Why not just ban the damned film altogether?

  • This movie scares/disturbs people because we are all humanity. Everything is put in it's place by the EternalCreator. And except for the grace of EC there go I. It could 've happened to anyone of us but we could only see the world is a blinded view. Most of these have sane minds in disfigured bodies. But those that scare us the most are the microcephalics and others with extremely limited knowledge.

  • This movie bothered me for days after watching it. The first time you watch this thing in its entirety it grabs a hold of your mind and takes over.... Its a really disturbing film.

  • i hope someone does a parody of this lol i dont know why

  • love the look on Cleos face when shes nudging the strong man and nodding for them to leave

  • @freacls that's not Cleopatra, she was turned into the duck woman by the "freaks". The woman who nudges the man is "Venus".

  • though thise was a powerful movie and very good it didnt scare or upset me like the other anime movie Barefoot Gen about the atomic bombing of Hiroshima that really scared and upset me but not thise film but it was very good

  • I got this film for Christmas on DVD last year, I watched it once and I'm too freaked out to watch it anytime soon haha

  • @xDeepPurpleDreamx lol its not that scary i watched it on U tube 2 weeks ago glad Cleo got what she desrived but theirs more scarer films than thise so grab the popcorn sit back turn out the lights and enjoy

  • lol I know, but it's scary in a weird sense... I can handle scary movies very well, but this is just bizarre!

  • @xDeepPurpleDreamx yeah im okay with scary movies [not with clowns]i love vampire films and that but im okay with thsie but the barefoot Gen film had me crying cheack it out

  • @xDeepPurpleDreamx i'll have it lol

  • @xDeepPurpleDreamx then give it to me so i can see it :)

  • the version i have has a different version than all of those. in the one i have, the show Cleopatra as a duck, then hans and his wife meet up and have their conversation. the only thing that's cut out of mine is Hercules singing

  • @spankyscfw yeah i think thats the ending that made it to dvd Herculese became a Castrato but the ending where Herculese and Cleo walk out the room unharmed never made it to dvd

  • that's awesome.

  • Daisy Earles may not have the best performance at the end, but I find her moment of comforting strangely powerful.

  • at 1:01 he says hercules sings in a high Tenor voice, i think he meant Soprano

  • no soprano is the highest female voice

  • i though soprano was just high voice, or is it a term exclusive to woman

  • its exclusive to women

  • No, it's not. There are MALE sorpanos. Look up boy sorpanos (who have no achieved puberty), castratos (who are castrated opera singers), and countertenors (natural male sorpanos).

  • not that the voice soprano not the singer

  • What? That wasn't even an entire sentence. Couldn't you repeat that?

  • this isn't school i wont repeat a text comment.

  • That's no excuse for bad grammar. It's something you should have learned in elementary school. Anyway, a "soprano" is simply a singing voice ranged between C4 and A4. This voice type is NOT exclusive to women at all, because men can soprano as well. See: v=drD3aUs5xKU

  • slightly bad grammar is no excuse for freaking out and when a man sings in a high voice it is called tenor

  • I didn't freak out. I didn't understand the answer, you have because it was a fragment and a run-on sentence, and I asked you politely if you repeat that again and you're the one that snapped at me. And, no, a man singing in a sorpano register is a called a "countertenor" or a "sopranist." A "tenor" is different.

    This is a countertenor: v=drD3aUs5xKU

    This is a tenor: v=8A3zetSuYRg

  • But he says "Hercules was 'emasculated'"

  • The first endin is fuckin awsome. Hurcules or whatever. gets his balls cut off and the one blonde chick gets her legs cut off and one eye tore out and tounge cut off. its pretty fuckin brutal. Its been banned tho. i wanna see it. just to see how bad it is. O_O

  • "Don't cry my liebchen, I love you, I love you"

Soooo sweet =[ I actually nearly cried

  • I think that it would be really awesome if they made a remake of this movie, but they would probably just use cgi to make the freaks look more like monsters...still, it's an idea

  • There is nothing more annoying when you get a ten minute CGI based scene in a otherwise good movie... Yes its VERY VERY close to reality... but its not.

Its like getting 10000 dollars, but knowing that the money is fake. You look at the money and say: OMG it looks real! But deep inside you know its fake because... it just does NOT look completely real!

  • Robbed! I want to see the very first ending described, the most brutal one.

  • The last ending in this video is the best I think.

  • Acutally Hercules was singing higher than tener, he was like higher than soprano which is freaky for a male to sing but hey some man can sing soprona

  • nick pitera is a male soprano.

  • well thats what i ment, some men have that talent. the highest vocal pitch naturally for a man is tener.

  • no they should NOT remake it. you dick.

  • they shouldn't because tod browning used REAL "sideshow freaks". Now they'd just jack it up with special effects

  • They do have a remake it's called "Freakshow". SWEET

  • Scary ending :O Human chicken... lol... thats horrible... hahahah

  • i first thaught they have cutted of her feet and fucked her that she become pregnant

but how the fuck can you make someon to a chicken?

  • Made her pregnant? They might just as well done that =P. Maybe they cut her legs off, fucked up her voice strings, lobotomized her brain and cut her tongue out. I seriously do not think that she and the guy are the villains in the movie. I mean, yeah id putt he woman in jail, in worse case scenario even killed her. But Fuck! No one deserves what these guys got turned into! I mean the freaks are that way, but they where born that way, "taking" revenge upon these guys is just overkill.

  • I think the fact they go overboard is great... because that is precisely what it's supposed to do. It's supposed to unnerve the audience. This is worst-case scenario when freaks are pushed too far. ;-) It's unnerving, even by today's standards, IMO. I could only imagine seeing it in 1932. I would've walked out of the theater, my jaw dropped...speechless.

  • Honestly, this is even more freaking out than anything now a days, we live in the age of special effects, no longer do people seek out great scripts of unbelievable stories made so well that you actually believe them until you wake up from a nightmare and tell yourself: Easy there, it was just a movie...

Scarface, the last movie that had a script so full fledged and yet easy and understandable, now? Meh, realistic monsters and crap, but its always the same =P

  • @Gamelvl84

The thing that made this film so chilling was that there was no need for special effects at all. All of the freaks in this movie were real.

  • @Gamelvl84 watch darkness falls gave me nightmares for 2 years i was young tho

  • @Gamelvl84

Back then they didn't have CGI, 3D, od 10 000 BC( XD ) and they did better horrors than we do. I aggree with you.

  • Even so, the movie was supposed to be cruel and freaky, and the ending sure made sure it turned out that way.

  • She's a duck, not a chicken. I don't know how you can turn someone into a duck.

  • I think all the 'freaks' did was cut off her feet and mess with her face/vocal cords, etc... People who run freak-shows advertise people as things they are not (like maybe a bald person with bad skin is "the lizard-man") so I'm sure she was just dressed up in the duck suit, since she was already quacking like one. I like it that it's left to the imagination a bit.

  • They should remake this into a modern version.

Of course it won't be as good but still!

  • A beautiful movie. The ending is magnificent and terrifying. Just reading Nights at the circus by Angela Carter...

  • i saw both the 1932 one and the remake.. i like the older one better

  • 2:34-3:22

    Cutest scene in movie history. ;__;

"Come to me, my liebchen. Don't cwy, Hans. I love you."

  • is that Tod Browning ?

  • Do the math, I don't think so.

  • no thats just a movie presavtionist. browing died in1962

  • I love this movie!

  • this movie is REALLY creepy

  • I've got the Freaks DVD, It would be interesting if any of these alternate endings were still in existence in some lost film cannister somewhere although that's pretty unlikely considering the short life of film stock from the 1930s which would likely have disintegrated by now.

  • That "Don't cry, Hans... Don't cry... I love you" was sampled in a Sheer Terror song. I had no idea what it was from and I came upon this by chance. Weird...

  • what Sheer Terror song is it?

  • Goodbye, Farewell.

  • how could they dismember Cleopatra in such a way without killing her? No pelvis, no legs, no voice, no eye...

  • it's an advanced technology recently developed: THE 40'S TERROR FILM

  • 30's

  • Whenever I've seen this movie, starting in the college circuit in the 1970s, it's had the first ending shown - I can't imagine why they'd make further cuts from this warm, poignant scene (but I would love to see the 30-odd minutes of cut footage)

  • well i think those 30 minutes included, comedic scenes cut out and prince randian rolling up his cigar. The odd footage could have possibly last 10 minutes to my knowledge.

  • Magnificient,a true masterpiece!

  • lol the duck lady (Cleopatra)is hilarious, saw the movie as a child , and i was so scarred.

O course the duck lady wasnt so funny back then. A masterpiece.

  • I've got "The Wedding Feast" part on my channel, located in my "favorites." Check it out. (Too damn funny, lol.)

  • "gooble gobble, we accept her!"

  • I know, right? It's too funny. You should add it to your "favorites" if you haven't yet.

  • "One of us, one of us...!" I knew that phrase before I had any idea were it was from.

  • Wow! That's cool to know. When I first watched this movie when I was 14 or so, I was enthralled by it. My favorite movie of all time. I loved Hans:( Stupid Olga. She deserved her fate. Such a bitch!

  • Cleopatra and her evil lover deserved to be punished, but that scene of her as an almost mindless duck person --- that seems beyond cruel and truly terrifying.

  • Saw it a couple months ago and I thought it was good.

  • There was a "little" actress who was put to death in one of Hitler's crematoriams. I don't know if her stature was as much a problem for him as the problem that he had with anyone who wasn't a perfect Aryan, but because he saw a photograph of her in a publicity photo sitting on Industrialist J.P. Morgan's lap!

  • I'm not crazy about any of them, but the first ending works best. I liked to see the little dudes re-united. If Freaks was a true horror film (I don't think it is), ending 3 would work best--but no film should end with a shot of a legless duck woman. Ack!

  • And they call this country the country of Freedom?

    Nice Cersorship

  • that has nothing to do with a country's freedom though, it has to do with the company that produces the film. It was MGM that censored it, not the country

  • Well it's pretty retarded to censor those little cuts anyway.

  • Hans is a lil guy with a giant heart

  • how did they make the make-up for Cleopatra?

  • Great movie

  • This film delivers a powerful message. I believe the moral of the story is, if you laugh at a freak, you become a freak. This is a very chilling film, & what happened to Cleopatra was her own fault. She made mocked the freaks, & she payed the penalty. If I was in the film, I would have let these series of events happen.

  • are those kids or adult with a diorder.

  • adults with a disorder.

  • adults with a disorder?

  • I saw this movie for the first time last night, and it had the original intended ending with Frieda reassuring Hans. I actually really like that ending, as I loved the character of Frieda. I'm no expert but I thought that particular ending was touching, and closed the movie well.

  • DARK CARNIVAL-TOD BROWNING-the most fantastic and in-depth book about the director of this movie, makes great reading.

  • idk the womans name, the one that says

"it was the poison you wanted" but,

i thinks shes cute, kinda pretty in a way...

    [[personal opinion]]

  • Quack, Quack!!

  • What did she mean by "you only wanted the poison"? I can only get that it wasn't his fault.

  • If I remember correctly, when Hans learned that he was being poisened, he demanded Cleopatra turn over the poison to him. For him, that was the end of it. The other freaks decided to go on the attack.

  • I wonder if the original ending is completely lost? Or can it be restored somehow?

  • If you listen to the song People are Strange by the Doors, it's almost creepy how it seems to have been made for this movie.

  • The album cover for the Doors strabge days had a carnivale folks.

And the back cover had a litle guy offering his hat (or asking money) to a blonde womasn that dressed fancy (just like olga) never tought of the similaritys.

  • "women seem wicked when you're alone"- olga was definitely wicked

"When you're strange, faces come out of the rain"- the scene where olga runs through the rain and is attacked by the freaks.

  • A tree fell of her in the storm... and Hercules was castrated and turned into a soprano singer. :).

  • thats pretty creepy 0.o

  • Not all pinheads are mentally challenged. There was a Nobel prize winner pinhead who won for Physics. Life is so strange.

  • was he savant?

  • Of course, goes without saying. All super geniuses are savants.

This is not to be mixed up with idiot/savant, if that is what you were thinking.

  • lol, yep, I've gotten so used to referring to all of them as savants, its easier to say.

  • I like pinheads!

Shlitze was 80 years old when he died in 1961.

Elvira and Jenny-lee were sisters (like the Hiltons). Why MGM called the Snow sisters "Zip & Pip, is one big question!

  • They tore out her tongue and chopped off her legs. So she became a "human duck" which is bound to waddle around on her stumps and to make silly "wak wak" noises without her tongue.

  • but you WERENT, and she got FUCKED UP

    AND ITS ALL YOUR FAULT

  • Yes, but the point is you werent in the film

therefore it is all your fault that she was not saved.

how you gonna live with that on your conscious huh?

  • How does she become a human duck?

  • Asked myself the same question. I whished they'd kept the ending where they castrate Hercules.

  • the freaks did it to her

  • she moved to Anaheim,Ca.

  • the freaks did it to her
