That book is so disturbing to me. I wish hollywood would make a new version with more accurate story from the book! (and wish those boys were speaking British XD
dude if u read the book dude they make piggy sound like a big penis practically slapped him in the face and destoryed the conch but who cares about that damn shell. welll rogger threw a huge poke ball and killed piggy and he was tryin to makehim a lvl 100 but apparently nit didnt work out as he planned
"The rock bounced twice and was lost in the forest. Piggy fell forty feet and landed on his back across the square red rock in the sea. His head opened and stuff came out and turned red. Piggy's arms and legs twitched a bit like a pig's after it has been killed. Then the sea breathed again in a long, slow sigh, the water boiled white and pink over the rock; and when it went, sucking back again, the body of Piggy was gone."
@Shenlung67 i knoww! the book and movie dont match up in alot of places.. and that can be quite annoying. i loved the book best, but the movie is still an interesting take of what happened..and i think the death of piggy and simon were changed because it was a bit too gorry in the book.
oh what @majinVegeta im in your class is that what you said?
and the ending it was a little funny but its more of a satire because in the end evil prevailed but brought the cause of good and for the boys to be rescued by the naval officer
But it's actually ironic because he has just saved Ralph from being hunted down when he's going off to hunt some enemy ship down. Thing is...who's going to save the naval officer? Or the ship he finds? The whole book is mankind brought into perspective. Downsized, if you will.
No way. Having seen both the 60's version and the Color film I can honestly say the color film is alot darker and truer to the book's atmosphere of gloom. Not to mention that Ralph in this one looks almost identical to the boy portrayed on the cover page of the novel, and that Jack (this one) is every bit as savage and hateful as he was in the novel. The color film wins hands down.
@sweeneytoddfan11 this better be sarcasm because jack can be easily stick out like a sore thumb because he is the one that is the bully, punk, idiot, etc.
@Dresden1065 true but when compared to the book it's nothing like it... the 1990 version is in 1980 not ww2 and is about american boys not british boys... and they cuss alot which is not true to the book and alot of other stuff. for entertainment... the 1990 version i'd say is better but for a more accurate representation of the book i'd say the old one is better
@ItsMyeno well obviously they aren't appropriate, it's not a book for little kids and is usually taught to high schoolers. Regardless, the book is meant to teach you what happens when society has no rules. The deaths of those two character in particular also symbolize a loss of philosophy (what Simon symbolized) and a loss of intelligence (what Piggy symbolized) so when they were killed it shows how logic and philosophical thinking are killed as well.
@ItsMyeno All these details are the point of the story. The impact of the book is that even children will kill each other given the opportunity. The island becomes a microcosm of all of human existence. It's saying something about humanity itself. So yeah, these things are pretty relevant.
im in Year 7 & im watching this in class, ive only got up to the bit where simon dies, but ive seen the bit where piggy dies on youtube, its so sad. This video is amazing anyway it looks like an advert it should go on tv
I've never really seen this, but from the language and accent, I can tell these boys are American. Weren't they British in the books? (From what I have seen, they kept using the F-bomb and I knew...)
dammit dude i hate u so much. i saw this movie when i was small and was so disturbed then i saw piggy and i wont be getting any sleep now... i hate u for ruining my life.

Recall from the book. . .
"The rock bounced twice and was lost in the forest. Piggy fell forty feet and landed on his back across the square red rock in the sea. His head opened and stuff came out and turned red. Piggy's arms and legs twitched a bit like a pig's after it has been killed.
