Entire regional battalion? What does that mean? Georgians outnumbered the Russian peacekeepers 15 to 1 in first day on war. When the Russians sent in more troops, the ratio of Russian and Georgian troops fighting was almost 1 to 1. You were fighting on your territory and lost. There was no overwhelming numbers. Russians only lost 70 soldiers KIA. Georgians lost 2000. Georgians cant fight and will never defeat Russia. Now Russia controlls Ossetia and Abkhazia. Georgia lost, deal with it.

actually Russia was outnumbering Georgia by around 2-3 thousand troops in this conflict- this isnt what you would call overwhelming. Other sources show that Russia was actually outnumbered by around a thousand troops, either way, it doesnt seem like the troop count is that far off.
Not only that, but Russia was hardly relying on airstrikes during the fight in South Ossetia, they were mostly bombing targets in Georgian controlled regions.

Russia might have had a few Georgian regular infantry POW's, but this is normal because Russia WAS INVADING GEORGIA, not vise-versa.
Georgia had shot down and captured the best Russian pilots, two of which survived [19 total aircraft including TU-22 Strategic Bomber].
Instead of torturing them for bombing civilians, Georgian doctors treated them in the hospital.

Ossetia conflict zone, and Russian trrops never took part in the fighting around Abkhazia, that was Abkhazian troops only. The Russian 58th army I think it was pushed the Georgians out of S. Ossetia and even into Georgia itself, I cite Gori as an example of this.
Russia won, just accept it. I accept that America beat Iraq, even though I wanted Iraq to win. It's childish to deny these truths.

The first Russian convoy only entered South Ossetia 12 hours after the Georgian Army attacked. South Ossetia is a few hours ride from South Ossetia. I have been to North Ossetia before and know the 58th Army is located in Vladikavkaz. There is a good road to Rokhi Tunnel and in summer time its easy to get to.

Georgia violated a 1992 cease fire agreement and killed 20 Russian UN peacekeepers. What did you want Russia to do? They responded and did the right thing. Now South Ossetia and Abkhazia are independent. Georgians need to calm down and worry about themselves. Next time you attack them, Russia will take over Tbilisi.

Russia is the one who wantes Democracy, peace and freedome. Thats why the have stoped Georgia from killing inosent S.Ossetien people. Russia was difending anjd fighting for freedome and peace. Russia has peace keepers forces in that reagon not soldiers.
