  • this songs for these comments shhh...trying to listen

  • angels77100 and scotland638 should really piss off to a room and beat the shit out of each other. These people are part of the problem not the solution. That's all i can say. Goodnight.

  • Fuck the US, and then when we have a some what hint of peace they start claiming all the credit

  • Until 9/11, You plastic paddys in America used to fund the IRA To bomb & Kill over here, Now that you know what its like to be a victim of hate. If Other countries in Britain, Want there independence. That`s fine. But what about the Thousands of Scottish, & Irish living & Working in England, ? Most of them moved down south to get away from the Bigots & Sectarianism, That England does not have. And that is a fact. SLF Done more for the peace process, Than any Politcian.

  • I love them

  • riots in Belfast last night, buses hi jacked and burnt out on broadway and donegal road two streets away, do we really want this again?

  • Must be the damn unionists. what the fuck is their problem?

  • This song makes me think about the things that still hapen today people killing each other without knowing that afterall we belong to the same countrie how sad great band

  • my dad and granda were the ol crew and drummed nonsense into me .religeous nonsense . hate this one and that one etc. i did until they ended up my best friends and shove the hate . how can you hate friends. politics divide people. Do what Scotland did and go and vote . god Scotland was at war wi England for 300 yrs. killing eachother. it had 2 stop big time.

  • thank fuck that shite is over. now we are free 2 vote on our future .

  • @skoi87 No need for the army to come back on the streets, sinn fein now work with the British govt, and 9/11 changed everything, the Americans then knew what terrorism really was.

  • @scotland638 I whole-heartily disagree with that ridiculous comment sir. As an American, I have never once thought of the Republican Nationalist or their actions in Ireland as 'terrorism'. The fucking cheek of you to make that pathetic cheap comment. Would you, in Scotland consider fellow Scots who stood up to another nations invasion of your country as terrorists? You're obviously a lapdog Unionist who is very clearly deluded about how we Americans view the Irish situation. Go fuck yourself!

  • @angels77100 N.Ireland is part of the UK,so the British army were not an invading force.Typical ignorant comment from a yank who has no idea about N.Ireland.In your twisted mind Al Qaeda are freedom fighters and 9/11 was justified.Go fuck yourself traitor.

  • @scotland638 What in fuck's name are you talking about? Northern Ireland only came into existence after 1948. Ulster which consists of 9 counties, is one of the oldest Irish provinces of Eire and has the dominance of Irish Gaelic speakers in the whole of Ireland. Ulster is Irish you pathetic Unionist fucking asshole. And never ever compare 911 and Islamic terrorism to Irish freedom. Buddy, you're fucking fortunate that your making your little quips from a keyboard and not to my fucking face.

  • @angels77100 Ulster is now part of the UK you retarded obese yank cunt,it has as much chance of becoming united with the south as you have of growing a pair of balls. You're lucky your on another continent or i'd kick your ass up and down the street.Like.Islamic terrorists are EXACTLY the same as the defeated ira and inla terrorists. Now fuck off traitor.

  • @scotland638 I don't recall Donegal, Monaghan and Cavan (Ulster counties) being part of the UK. So you've just lost the argument right there. Not only are you one of those bigoted Unionist Lapdogs to the English, you're also not a true Scotsman, nor have you any connection or knowledge of Ireland or the the Irish people. I bet you think the Battle of the Boyne was fought outside Belfast, or that Malin head is 'down south' because it's in the Republican. Fuck off, You're just a waste of space.

  • @angels77100 Six of Ulster's nine counties, Antrim, Armagh, Down, Fermanagh, Londonderry and Tyrone, form Northern Ireland and remained part of the United Kingdom after the partition of Ireland in 1921. Three Ulster counties, Cavan, Donegal and Monaghan form part of the Republic of Ireland.Didn't expect a stupid yank like you to acknowledge Ulster is more part of the UK than Eire.Stop making a complete cunt of yourself anymore than you already are yank boy.

  • @scotland638 Obviously this 'stupid yank' is educating your ass. Look I even got you to google Ulster so you could post that. Listen you fake Scot, do yourself a favor and stop attempting to troll. You're shit at it, as it's so easy to see that you're nothing but a fucking Unionist bastard who the world despises. You people are not wanted by the Irish, the Scots and certainly not by the English. You're a dying breed, and the quicker you dumb bastards die out the better.

  • @angels77100 I googled it to prove that more of Ulster is part of the UK,a fact which you don't seem to be able to comprehend. And btw i vote for the SNP who want Scottish independence. As Rabbie Burns wrote "Bought and sold for English gold" the Scottish aristocracy sold us out,the people did not have the vote then,we do now and hopefully my felllow Scots will vote to leave this unholy union with England soon, but yanks like you have no idea of my country's history,so fuck off ya dumb yank.

  • @scotland638 Lol @ 'I googled it'. You haven't answered a single question. All you've concluded is that you know very little about Ireland and it's history, and not a lot about Scotland either. BTW Robert Burns never once referred to himself as 'Rabbie' and he would turn in his grave if he knew people were calling him that. And as far as I was aware, we were discussing Irish history not the history of Scotland. If you want me to teach you Scottish history all you have to do is ask. Touchdown.

  • @angels77100 Robert Burns (25 January 1759 – 21 July 1796) also known as Rabbie Burns.I've forgot more about Scottish history than you'll ever gain, stick to American history, though as you ain't got much that shouldn't be hard lol you're ignorance is only matched by your failure to grasp even the basic concept of the politics of Ireland.Don't feel to bad about it,you're a yank,no reason why you should know anything about it.

  • @scotland638 Look at this googling fucking asshole. Shows how much you know when you have to google everything I've asked you. Here's a fact for you. Burns never called himself Rabbie idiot. He sometimes signed his name as 'Robin', Rab, or Robert. But never Rabbie. You fucking idiot. And by the way, Eleven of our Presidents are of Irish Decent, twelve if Obama's ancestry is to be believed. So I'd say we Americans have more in common with Ireland than you fucking Islamic Unionist bastards.

  • @angels77100 Irish decent ? ha ha and you call me an idiot. And because some of your former presidents may have irish descent doesn't mean America has anything to do with Ireland ya dopey bastard, who helped bail Ireland out ? not the fucking US,Britain and the EU did, stop interfering where you're not needed or wanted.I never claimed Rabbie Burns called himself Rabbie,i and others called him that, you're a sad indictment of the american education system.Islamic Unionist ??? wtf is that ?

  • Boss song!

  • love this n beriut moon

  • nice one. Thanks for the post. Going to see em in leamington in March. Cant wait!!

  • So true, I have friends who raised funds for the Provo IRA in the early 80s. They did not know they history or the reason why the conflict was going on, simply because "they were Irish like me."

I will happily send money to a candidate who's political platform is to get NI back through peace, but armed Republicanism is bloody stupid. since 1922 the border has not moved an inch and hundreds lay dead.,

  • no theyr irish like you used to be go wave youre stars and stripes

just like the song says its ok for you to choose sides living miles away from the consiquences how in the hell dose this involve you (heres how you can make a difference yank stop calling mexicans immigrants in ther own country)

  • @youvegotmoobs You have no idea who you're speaking too. :) The Mexican War was nothing but act of imperialism by the U.S. that stole rightful land away from Mexico. The lads of the St. Patrick Battalion had the right idea. You cannot generalize all us Americans. :o)

  • there boss, Ireland boss! xx

  • always get a shiver down my spine with this song hanx!

  • amazin song

  • Where are they from? Ireland?

  • aye Derry city

  • they are from belfast

  • outstanding words...should be played to the youngsters in ireland who seem to want to bring back trouble

  • cant get any better than this

    well done Jake!

  • great band , great song , the words sum up what parts of america did during the troubles. i think if it was not for sep11 . it would still be going on today. only a opinion though. peace the world over.

  • My mom was born in Belfast. I have relatives there today. We are Protestant. I have seen the troubles first hand. I was there when Omagh happened. I was there in the 80's when soldiers roamed the streets and youth gangs fought each other. I was in a pub that got blown up a few months later. Both sides are equally at fault. Violence never solves anything. Separation never solves anything. We are all Christian brothers and sisters.

  • Youth gangs?

You're not from here, never were.

Don't lie to the internet. We know who you are.

  • What am I lying about? Don't keep such a closed mind.

  • @mickyk200 and where the fuck are you from mate ?? Dont lie Neither!

  • @karey26

    >Separation never solves anything

    >We are all christian brothers

Don't you see the hypocrisy in that statement? I'm sure the Sikhs and Hindus in Ireland might get a lil offended at it.

  • @BelfastAtheist While that's true, he was referring specifically to the Troubles, which were mainly the cause of one group of Christians discriminating against another.

  • @karey26 Sounds like everywhere you go there's trouble! Don't come over to my house!

  • @karey26

I was with you until that last sentence. Remove the word "Christian" from it and I'll agree with you. By labelling people as belonging to any one particular group, you are excluding all the people that do not fit into that group.

The majority of the people in Ireland and the UK might be Christian but that still excludes all those that are not (and the majority of the people on this small planet are not Christian).

  • You've got to respect Jake....he speaks um truth.

  • Kill Everybody.

  • The first time I heard this song I was in a bar and talking with a girl from belfast and she said to me nothing truer was every said. It hit me real hard. I hope things get better for everyone across the sea.

  • well done wi video and true words o the song

  • cant u all pay attention the song and stop all the fighting?

  • Note how the song about the stupidity and pointlessness of the conflict is the one that has the sectarian argument in its comment thread.

Here's an idea: Neither side gets it exclusively. Learn to coexist, damn it. I'm an American whose hosted two kids from the Children's Program of Northern Ireland. How the older generation's hatreds and the social and economic situation turns the youth of Ulster towards these violent groups is sickening. Why should Ulster have to be English or Irish?

  • Here is irony:

"Here's an idea: Neither side gets it exclusively. Learn to coexist, damn it. I'm an American

    [..]

Why should Ulster have to be English or Irish?"

    Who "doesn't get it" exactly..?

  • Neither side exclusively gets the rights to the land and the political power.

  • I dont disagree with most of your last comment, its such a pity you started so badly with your first one.

That set the trend for the rest of the debate.

I'm not from Bangor by the way, no idea where you got that from.

  • Yeah.

    What arrant nonsense.

Cos anyone with half a brain would come to that conclusion after reading my posts above.

It must be really terrible when someone disagrees with your lies, I really feel for you!

  • & thank goodness it is.

I started it because I replied to the pish you've been posting here?

    Dead on.

  • Yes because you'd really know wouldnt you! You've already displayed your encyclopaedic knowledge of the conflict dickhead.

  • Now we're getting somewhere, will you agree that the IRA oppressed Catholics more than anyone else.

I know in certain places those murdering b*stards are seen as romantic freedom fighters but that is anything but the truth.

  • You are wrong in your assertion that the IRA killed more Catholics than all the other protagonists in the conflict put together. And the IRA are murderers yes but the reason why people supported them was because they defended Nationalist communities from loyalist onslaughts during the early days of the troubles when the Police and British Army didn't want to know.

  • Er, no, I'm not wrong in my assertion.

I suppose, by your logic, we could say that loyalists were only attacking nationalist communities because of the IRAs onslaught on them.

You also seem to forget that the British Army was supposedly brought into Northern Ireland to protect nationalists & was then attacked itself by the IRA.

The Ira had very little support in natioanlist areas anyway, it ruled by the gun.

  • You are wrong check the database on the CAIN website it has a complete listing of all the deaths during the troubles, Also Loyalists groups also killed more civilians than the Republican groups did. Indeed many Loyalists did feel they were under attack and that was why they joined paramilitaries but that doesn't make there actions any better or worse than those who joined the IRA etc as both were worng. Did you live in a Nationalist area during the troubles?

  • Irish Republicans murdered 2158 people out of a total of 3703.

I'm not claiming anyones actions are any worse or better than anyone elses, murderers are murderers.

  • How can you be so sure of that they ruled by the Gun? I think your view of the troubles is rather simplistic you cannot just blame it all on the PIRA you must look at the factors which led to its formation in the first place why so many people joined it and also examine why it was able to sustain its campaign for so long.

  • ad, lifes too short for me to enter into a dense political discourse on Youtube of all places, but if you wish to complain that my views are rather simplistic maybe you'd be better addressing the 2 arseholes who started the discussion above!

  • LOL! Yeah, cos you know me so well, I am a catholic you Clampett.

Read what I wrote; "I despise murdering thugs", I make no differences.

The IRA were responsible for murdering more catholics than anyone else so save your crocodile tears for their many victims instead of telling a pack of ill-informed lies on here.

  • Where did I say you hated protestants? Where did I say I despised catholics, where did I mention my upbringing, your remarks are ill-founded & preposterous, you are a bin-lid & beyond reasoned debate.

I despise murdering thugs, I despise equally their apologists, such as you.

  • Check out some statistics, the IRA actually killed more "oppressed Irish catholics" than everyone else did put together.

    Freedom fighters & liberators?

    I think not.

  • No sorry youre wrong fuck it youre wrong.

Bollocks to the both of you, SLF are from Belfast they ought to know more than you about what was going on.

The IRA were a bunch of murdering thugs.

Read the words of the song.
