I wish to be in a U2 tribute band and this would be part of the act. I not sure people would appreciate me playing a gig in shorts and a vest, not a nice sight! I'm sure I wouldn't be questioned at an actual gig if I wore the Tshirt which surprises me when people comment on here. Some people just don't get it, then they only see and comment on what I'm wearing rather than noticing the music. That's a shame. It really doesn't matter what I'm wearing, after all I AM being myself being someone else

His rack system is used as an instrument at one with his guitar. The pure textures and tones he creates with them are amazing and sometimes almost hypnotic. Just because Edge doesn't whizz round the fretboard with his hair getting caught in the strings it doesn't mean he is not a good guitarist. He creates power from simplicity and he comes from pure tonal beauty rather than technical playing brilliance. I would personally listen to Edge play just one note for four bars rather than someone..

trying to squeeze in 50 notes per second which, in my personal opinion, although clever is really boring. No one can match Edge's tone no matter how good they think they are. Also many big guitarists have rigs the size of Edge's but know nothing about them, leaving such knowledge to their techs. Edge knows his total signal path through the whole rig and often programmes it as he plays, THAT is not mediocre!! You also have to be a much better player the more simply you play because it is far...

more difficult to cover any mistakes. They stand out like a sore thumb. Nobody would notice if a sweetpicker say, made a mistake because of the rate of the notes being played so it's easier to cover over errors the faster you play. To a U2 / Edge fan the notes of his guitar are often a spititual listening experience and stand up front just as much as Bono's lyrics, they are a duet!!! Just amazing.. Peace!!

That's very harsh...he is prehaps not the must techniqually gifted guitarist, but he is imaginative and experimental. Another way of putting it, if you give two people three basic colours, one guy will paint a bare empty mess. the other guy will produce a masterpiece. Well, thanks for checkin' it out anyway. IMHO, there ain't nothin' a Telecaster can't do. Yeah, I'm a Tele fan boy. But seriously, I've had many Gibsons. I think they're pretty, but not a lot of function or good tone. To me, a guitars meant for playing and all the ornamentation Gibsons have is just overkill. I never had a Les Paul that I kept for over a year or so.

For me I start by wanting a certain kind of sound then I try either guitar, Strat or Les Paul and decide which one to use from the 'audition'. Any type of guitar is equally able to provide great results for the tone you want for any given song. Sometimes you have to work to get the tone you want from a guitar, that's what it's all about. It doesn't always just 'fall into your lap'. ANY guitar can give you a perfect tone if you know how to get it.
