Dear Bobbyshaker, You are so right that religion will leave you flat. However, God never said anything about being religious. He said accept Jesus as your Saviour. Religion is man trying to reach up to God, and that is impossible. If you really listen to the message in these songs, you'll see that God reaches down in love through Jesus to lift fallen man up to Him. I pray you find this out.
Hoover, I love your vids more than anyone else's, they're so much more consistant. Was wondering if you happen to have JD singing Let the Lower Lights Be Burning? I don't know if you answer personally or not, but I'd love to get an email from you about my question. My email is gt1313@pgtc.com Thanks, keep up the good work.
Lord, the price of milk went down 50 cents, hogs are down a dollar, beans down 3 bucks a bushel, the ground beef has e-coli and I owe $150,000 on the new combine.
But why am I complaining? We just planted 1000 acres of pot, and we're going to average $25,000 an acre this fall. Yep, Lord, you sure been good to us.
So Lord, just let me ask that please don't let the sheriff find this place, and if he does, please take him home to his heavenly reward.
@moproducer it's people like that strip this country of it morals and bring us all down, one day u will face your maker and u will answer for want u think is so cute today, you'll never prosper with that attitude, but u know it so i'll just pray that one day your eyes will be open and your soul will be rich!
God bless JD and Elvis and all the wonderful people that created all this beautiful music. The men of the fifties and sixties who created all this music were special people. I love this music.
I LOVE THIS MAN.. i actually talked tohim for about 54 minutes on a break between singing with the masters five back many years ago... very humble man... i love his voice....thank you GOD for people likethis man... thanks HOOVER.
I am sure that JD Sumner and Elvis are up in heaven, Just singing there Gosple songs that they loved so much. This is realy good, Thanks so much for sharing this.
Lord I pray that the large food corporations will let you warm the hearts of thier CEO's so that the american farmer will be paid what he is worth for his work. For too long we have watched the rich take advantage of working class people in this country. I do know this, that if I humble myself and pray,God will hear me and provide for my needs, thank you Lord. The exalted will be humbled and the humble will be exalted Blessed is the name Jesus our redeemer
How can we thank the Lord as much as we feel inside. There aren't enough words. And then...There are those who say there is no God.I just wish they knew Him too.
yes Lord, you'd think that the way I've been acting, I'm downright ungrateful. So, thank you Lord for all the times you've gone before me, made my crooked paths straight. Thank you Lord, thank you 'cause even when I can't see it you're still blessing...Thank you.
This was taped very near to the end of JD's life. I have listened to this 100 times and it never gets old. Its sad and inspirational at the same time. This little piece of music history will live with me until im gone.
Thank you for posting this. I heard this song and poem when I was just a kid...That time it was sung by Jimmy Dean. I have been looking for this for years...I never knew JD recorded this...it's awesome!
I saw J.D. many times in person from California to Florida. The last time was in Georgia. It was just a short time before he "crossed chilly Jordan" as he sang so many times. He had a preminition for he gave a strong testimony about trusting in Jesus and seeing him soon. A strange feeling came over me that this probably was the last time I would see him in person and it was! BUT I WILL SEE HIM AGAIN IN PERSON!!
I met JD Sumner at the Elvis Festival in Collingwood, Ontario, Canada. He was a judge that year for the pre-liminary round. One of the songs I performed was How Great Thou Art, and afterwards he approached my and commended me on my performance. What a thrill that was.
i have loved j.d sumner since the first time i heard him sing...my favorite thing he has done is this poem...its a real good poem and his deep voice just makes it even better...this song always helps me when i am not in such a great mood...rip jd...we love you!!!
The Farmer and the Lord was one of my favorite songs back when I was teenager. A few years back I met JD at a concert. I was maybe in my late 30's. I asked him "Do you ever do "The Farmer and the Lord" anymore, JD?" He looked at me.. paused for a few seconds and said in his deep, ground shaking voice... "How old are you son?" Did a slow turn to the person beside him.. then looked back up at me and laughed. As a "wish-I-could" bass singer myself.. that was something I will always remember.
I dedicate this to all our farmers, all over the world, who are facing drought.
Lord, please bring us rain in Georgia? Amen
