  • This car is now for sale at auction this spring

  • the things i would do to see one of those in action...defs my favorite car ever.

  • Best racing car ever made.

People tend to focus on its insane power output, but the real engineering challenge was not the power, but a chassis that could harness that power and make it driveable.

For a while Shadow tried turbo-charged Chevrolet V8's, which reportedly had even more power, but they were never as fast as the Porsche 917-30 around the tracks.

  • The car that killed Can-Am. These were the most amazing racecars/series ever. Brute power and innovative ground effects, wow!

  • BEST RACING CAR OF ALL TIME

A COMPLETE BEAST AT THE TRACK

  • Krásné.

  • zero to 200 mph in 11 seconds

  • I saw these cars race at RIR and have seen every type of race car...these had no equal...just amazing.

  • One of the best engine car 1,500 cc with 1,300 hp

    Made by BMW M/ POWER

Formerly partner of Luftwaffe when the other car constructor produced engine of 20 - 30 hp

  • This is the most powerful race car ever made- faster than the 9ff GT9 R

The 917 30 does 0-100 km/h in 1.9 seconds, which is a whole second faster than the GT9 R, and 0.6 seconds faster than bugatti veyron. Number 2, it produces 1560 Horsepower, in which GT9R only produces 1120, and 1001 for the veyron. The top speed is 270 m/ph. This is what I call a GREAT CAR! forget about all those Enzo, Veyron, blah blah, I dont care if this car is made from 1970s, but this is just an awesome German supercar!

  • @owenpoon123 yo man....car was measured from 0-320kph (0-200mph) in 12,6sec

thats a lot faster than 17,7 from 0-300kph for the crappy Truck veyron.

its even faster than a turbocharged hayabusa @350hp (0-300kph 13,0sec)

  • @kataklysm696

    yes thats right thankyou!

  • @owenpoon123 My favorite race car of all time.....a dragster designed to run for 200 miles and not break!Saw all the Can-Ams '71 to the end (Laguna Seca).

  • @owenpoon123 the Porsche is capable of 1580 hp but most of the time would only run around 1100 hp to preserve the engine for longer races.

  • A great moment in my life: seeing Mark Donohue win the race at Laguna Seca and with it the Can-Am title, October 14, 1973.

  • @RickyJ46

I was there too...sat at the corkscrew. Those were the days!

Big block Chevys sounds were awesome as were the imsa cars

like the Brumos Porsche ,BMW's and of course the Chevy Monzas.

The Can-Am series was the GREATEST RACING OF ALL TIME!!!

I even got to see Jackie Stewart race(I am a Scottish born American,so he was kinda my favorite).

  • traction control there is no traction control

  • He may have been referring to the twin turbochargers, with their pop-off valves and wastegates. These made a very distinctive noise.

  • Krása.

  • i saw Donohue drive it at the 73 can am at riverside with 3 others like it . they make a big pop sound when the TC kicks in at acceleration.

  • What traction control?????? Traction control was unheard of in '73!

  • thas what i call a great car.
