  • loving the people giving chris advice here. not only has this guy coached Armstrong, but has competed in both the olympics and tour de france

  • i just pedal to the point where i cant talk

  • Sorry, but above the lactate threshold, breathing tends to be deep and fast, not shallow, because of metabolic acidosis being compensated this way. Totally agree with training below the threshold, this actually rises it. On contratry, training above makes you stronger, improves pH buffering capacity, but lowers the threshold. Makes you more sprinter than climber.

  • @JanLGorski very informative comment there.... :)

  • haha typical youtube lardasses giving people that do somthing for a living advice.

  • @WhiteGravey I agree!

  • @WhiteGravey Carmichael's not a youtube lardass, he coached LA to most of his wins.

  • i lost interest at about 0:00

  • Michael is looking a bit chunky nowadays

  • nothing to do with climbing but you should both raise your saddles

  • @MrSuperbizzle - funny...giving tips to a person that coaches the best cyclists in the world...I'm sure you must be an THE BEST we have out there....

  • @renier0001 cmon , i didnt mean to say anything bad, i just thought he looked really uncomfortable.

  • @MrSuperbizzle Well he is riding up a hill... The fella that doesn't talk looks perfectly fine, he's not overextending/underextending his legs at the base of his pedalling circle. Carmichael looks to be a little underextended compared to him, but I think he would have some idea about bike fit... maybe he generates more power with that position?

  • @MrSuperbizzle Bah. Stretching out the legs in a pedal stroke just makes the hamstrings so much more ineffective. No, Chris has a fairly classical European pedal stroke. Who are you to challenge that kind of stroke??

  • @MrSuperbizzle dude, he's fine... that's the new style

  • @PATAR144 yeah i agree, my comment is from over a year ago haha

  • Is this okay for a beginner? I have some hills to climb biking to my school which is 13km. I get seriously winded and not just that but the intensity of the hill is sometimes too much that I have to walk the bike up :( Really would appreciate some tips...

  • for a good workout I would say yes but I'm a little iffy if you should do it for repeats

The hill is to be just under your lactate threshold and if you're getting off and walking I'm assuming that your legs burn so much that you can't spin anymore.

I would definitely still do the hill but you want a hill you an do over and over a few times like he's saying just under your threshold to get a nice burn. Then when you get you legs like steel you can face the other hill and do repeats on that.

  • @divinexbrutality Just do it to a certain distance/time. If it's the only hill within a reasonable distance, you've gotta work with what you've got.

  • what kind of climbing training would be appropriate to train for Leadville? = []
