@Legofan78 What you see is the case. It's made by Mountain Mod. It's a Mountain Mod UFO-2 case. They're acrylic based panels. The thing weights about 75 pounds and it's watercooled too. I built it myself. Specs have changed a bit over the years. I have 2 GTX 580's by EVGA inside now but still rocking the i7 920.
@Legofan78 That's a little over the top. I would wait for the refresh on the CPU's from Intel ( Ivy bridge) it has a 35% overhead from the sandy bridge. You'll never need 16gb of ram unless you run some insane amounts of VM's and ram intensive applications. 8GB is more than enough. And as for the 6990.. well I had 4870x2's before and they were the worst cards ever. Dual Gpu's don't scale for shit.
@implosion222 LOL, I am generally over the top. I need it in order to run insanely Memory intense applications and Crysis, My older mac pro has 32GB of Ram, so im used to it fast...
@One4TheTechnoGuy Your mountain mods case is beautiful! Very good pick. I'm looking at a caselabs case myself, but mountain mods is right up the same alley. Your setup looks really nice btw.
Hey Thx man. I was actually never a fan of Apple up until last Christmas, I bought the macbook pro and I can't get away from it now. I love it. I have an old Red hat distro kicking around and ive also got ubuntu dual booting on my old laptop, it's super handy as well! thx for looking :)

@Legofan78 You don't more than 4Gb to run Crysis fyi
implosion222 10 months ago
@implosion222 yeh, but i also usually run intense CAD programs that require at least 12GB.
