This brings back so many memories. I had the best times ever shooting in the national matches. And as far as the pits go, i was scared to death the first time working the pits lol. Been blasted by the pasties a few times.
Well, the targets are 10 - 12 feet above your head, plus, between you and the shooters is two feet of concrete and steel and in front of that a bank about 20-30 feet deep with dirt. It's very safe, unless you are strapped to a target : )
I've shot the Camp Perry Garand match about 8 times. Some of those guy at the begining on the line were completely FUBAR. You could tell they were having real trouble loading their rifles. The guy who shot that last target at the end did a pretty good job.
