  • I just think what do you mean when you say if the computer hanging? :)

  • how do you know when you have overclocked enough?

  • @agent2539 Your computer crashes XD

  • my bios doesnt let me change the CPU setting, i need to insert a password generated by intel

  • Every bias. LOL

  • WTF

  • wat if my Intel mother board BIOS doesnt have Overclocking options???

  • @silverthunderable Then you would have to get a new motherboad that supports overclocking.

  • Hey! can you guys tell me if i overclocked correctly? I didn't adjust anything except for the cpu freq and my cpu is now at 3.40ghz ( core 2 quad q9550 ) and theres no hanging or whatsoever .. is my overclock a success??

  • @UploaderA if it's still going at full speed, then yes. Congratulations on your newly revived computer.

  • @MegaJames1337 thanks for you reply! i thought no one was ever going to reply on my comment agn :(

  • oh and i forgot to mention that i currently have my Phenom x2 555 OC to x19 mul at 3.8GHz

  • would i get more performance if i lowered frequency and increased the multiplier?

  • Comment removed

  • How do you know if your CPU is hanging?

  • hey can i overclock my amd atlon 64 x2 4800+ @2.50 GHz to 3.00 GHz?

whats the steps doing that? tnxmore power

  • @PCWizKid my graphic card is ATI(AMD) and it has crossfire. i will overclock it. is there a way to cool my

    graphic card?

  • OY!! nice tutorial OY!! where's that stupid ant?? Hey I was wondering what David Stern is doing today?

  • This is when ROG Connect comes in handy :D

  • is it suitable for me to use cooler master vortex 752 instead of stock cooler to overclock my cpu? :)

  • Good to have some people here who take this seriously and are explaining things, unlike people who just add here tutorials with bad quality, tutorial and music wich iritates me most. Thansk for great turorials me personaly appreciate that very much. Sorry for my bad english...

  • can some one help me i have intel e5400 and every time i increase little by little i get farking system error then i restart my comp and put it back to system defaults any clues why??

i read some forums saying it can go with 3.2-3.4ghz with factory cooler

any one know my limits of my cpu thx alot

  • where can i find my cpu "limits" that you talked about? im looking to OC my phenom II x6 1055T

  • Comment removed

  • @ArcheysGames oc it, run prime95 for a few hours and if it runs continuously throughout it's stable, if it doesn't then undeclock it a bit. google this topic you'll find LOADS of threads

  • Comment removed

  • @ArcheysGames change fsb to about 250 and multiplier to x16, BUT be safe and move up little by little. also might want to amp up the voltage to 1.35-1.4. USE AMPLE COOLING!!!!!!!!!!!

  • What does it mean when he says "Hang" all the time? Also how would you find out the temperature of your processor and everything? Is it built into the software or do you have to get some kind of piece to attach or something?

  • @kickit246 By hang, he means your system would just freeze up, meaning you went to far or you didn't give enough voltage. As for temperature, I would try Google-ing RealTemp, it's always fairly accurate.

  • AMD Phenom(tm) II X6 1045T Processor 2.70 GHz.

How much can I OC? It's six cores. :D

Also, what program can I use to OC it?

  • AMD Phenom(tm) II X6 1045T Processor 2.70 GHz.

How much can I OC? It's six cores. :D

  • F1 2010 Minimum System requirement is Intel c2d 2.4GHz.

but, mine only 2.2GHz which is intel c2d E4500.

is it ok if i overclock it to 2.4Ghz or more?

is it the same if an overclock cpu 2.2ghz to 2.4ghz with a cpu which is already 2.4ghz?

  • i unclock x2 to x4 B50 processor..but cpu temp is above 80+++......im using speedfan software for checking temp....software showing like this temp1- 55'C, Core1- 70-80, Core2 - 104C, HD0 - 87C...........could u temme how much voltage need to be increase or decreasing nd how to reduce cpu temp....

  • is it smart to overclock on a laptop? (with the fan and all being partually under the thing?)

  • @ThibautVDP No, You never should overclock a laptop no matter what

  • @IpodtouchItechtv why no why cant i overclock laptop

  • @superhacker101 Cause It will overheat and It will ruin it

  • hey plz is there to know how many wat i have on my psu from windows 7

( icant open the case of my pc LOL)

  • My setup is: Mobo Asus P7P55-D, CPU Core i7 760 2.66, G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 4GB DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) and the COOLER MASTER H101 80mm Long life sleeve bearing CPU Cooler; Can it work the same overclocking if I increase the ram to 8GB? How can I find the overclocking timing for my Ram? Standard is 9-9-9-24. My goal is to reach no less than 3.8, hopefully I can go over 4.0 that would be just awesome. Your input will be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!.

  • Please can you help me...I have an Intel Core i7-930 (4x2.8 GHz), 6GB, 1TB, HD670, Win 7 64.

    550 Watt beQuiet System Power....

Should I Overclock my PC to get the most out of it and if yes how high could I go without risk...as you can see I don't have much knowledge with PC's.

  • @lazydany1 Overclocking is running components at higher speeds, so that also means ingreasing the amount of GHz. How high you can go all depends on your setup. But yes sometimes from 3GHz to 4Ghz is possible, you will need good cooling for that though, so if your using a stock heatsink replace that one to start with.

  • @lazydany1

It increases the clock speed of your CPU (yours is 3.00ghz). This makes it process faster.

  • i love pcwizkid techtalk man !! ive seen almost all of your graphics card review and finally persuaded my dad to buy me a hd 6950

  • How do you know when you've reached the "max". For instance, you say you were only able to get 206 out of it (towards the end of the vid), how did you know that this was its limit?

  • @TheHoffman95

The maximum limit is determined by how hot it gets. In general, you don't want it to pass 60 degrees Celsius, it depends on the CPU though. The more you overclock it, the hotter it gets. So he would have tested it under load (playing a game or running a benchmark) while running a program that records the temperatures. Using a good CPU cooler allows you to overclock it more without it getting too hot.

  • @LookatthatSH1T Ah right I see, thanks very much :)

  • @TheHoffman95

    You're welcome. Glad I helped.

  • i almost burned my i7 because my epu-6 went into powersaver mode and switched my water pump off but i was pushing 4.02ghz at the time! Very Good vid!!! I learned alot!

  • what does hangs mean

  • what does "hang" mean?

  • @thaifirepaladin Google "system hang". There should be a wikipedia article about it.

  • @Soreanol Thank you. The video was very insightful.

  • @thaifirepaladin Anytime.

  • intro song name ?

  • @VideoMakersUs Search Youtube "Background Music - In a heartbeat".

  • how would i know the cpU temperatures

  • Core i5 2500k 4.2 ghz at 1.35 v.

    Max temp 60c

    Idle temp 32c

    Is the voltage too high?

  • @misterune intell recommend to not go higher than 1.25 volts but you can all was push it if 60c is your max then i should be fine but you could alwas try to decrease you cpu volts bit by bit until it wont boot and just try and find a lover voltage thats still stable

  • the last thing you want is a burned computer, now he tells you that if you do it incorrectly you will burn the CPU....that is true no doubts there however he left out a few other things, because the CPU is not the only thing that will be burnned out, you also have very high chances in fact you will have chances of burning your other components as well such as the mother board, graphics card, ram even your power supply....like I said before, don't OC unless you are an expert, use factory speeds

  • I want to say something about overclocking.....you don't have to do it at all seriously it's really not necessary, because if you're building like lets say a $ 2,000 computer, you wont see any need to overclock, it will run amazingly regardless, if you have an amazing graphics card and expensive powerful cpu, there is no need, I'm just saying this so you don't have to go through the risk of overclocking. If you're afraid of doing it or don't know what you are doing, then don't do it, k ppl?

  • i just oc'ed my 2500k to 4.5ghz seems stable so far , prime 95 has been running for a little more than a half hour, temps were not too bad, 68 max and avg 64, do u think i can push it more?? im currently at 1.3 vcore

  • 16 people overheated their CPU. Hurhurhur

  • can i use the original fan? ive got an asus p5ld2-x/1333 intel (r) pentium(r) Dual CPU E2160 @1.80ghz each, it sais together its 2.7 ghz , i want to over clock it to 3.1 or 3 ghz

  • u forgot to tell what overclocking is, so...? wtf is it!

  • @hjtjegrinwis it is when you up the clock speed over something so it is over the original speed. e.g. overclock the cpu from 3ghz to 3.4ghz. It will increase the speed but, if done incorrectly, can severly damage or completely burn out your cpu.

  • my cpu explode

  • U A FUCKING BEAST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • LETS DO THIS!

  • Hi kidwiz, did you do the memory overclocking video? I cant find it... very nice video btw, thanks you :)

  • what happens if the computer isnt stable?

  • @happybunnies182 You get a BSoD, I believe.

  • Can I overclock a Windows Vista Home Premium labtop? Here is the spec's:

Intel Core Duo CPU T2450 @2.00GHz, Memory is 1.00 GB RAM, System Type is a 32 bit operation system. anything else? and help this is for my cousin and me

  • @FriezaReturns00001 Doubt it, it probably has a locked multiplier :/

  • @FriezaReturns00001 laptops run really hot with stock clock speeds , overclocking would destroy it

  • @compad I've given my AMD Turion X2 RM-74 laptop cpu a slight overclock. From 2.2ghz to 2.34ghz. Not much of a performance increase, but it worked. But you're right about the temperature getting really hot. Have to use a laptop cooling pad now. :/

  • @SoadAddict91 It's good to use cooling pad even without overclock, when I had a laptop acer 5535 Amd athlon x2 1,9ghz temps were at ~70c and if watched HD movie or played a game they went up to ~102c

which is quite crazy if you ask me.

  • @compad WOW, those are really high! At idle, mines at 62C and during video rendering or games it spikes up to 89C. (with Arctic Silver 5 thermal-paste) But yeah, cooling pads are always good things to have when owning a laptop. Some can even chill your drink for you! lol

  • I have a Phenom ii x4 965 as well that I plan on OCing. If I were to blindly copy your "OC values used", would that be bad? lol. I know not all processors are the same, but could I cause any damage to my cpu?

  • Intel DG31PR.. Core 2 Duo E7400, TwinMOS DDR2 @ 400. Plz help out :P!

  • Intel DG31PR.. Core 2 Duo E7400, TwinMOS DDR2 @ 400. Plz help out :P!

  • what is overclocking? xDD

  • @PartyDoffy for example, you have 2.4 ghz processor, by overclocking, you can improve it to 3.0 ghz or something like that.

basically unleashing more potential from your processor. but you'll need more cooling to the cpu or it will fry up and overheat

  • @PartyDoffy Someone didnt pay attention in Class! Silly guy

  • @NMFrame who didn't pay attantion in class?

  • @PartyDoffy Osama.. oh, nevermind

  • I got an acer aspire one and i want to over clock it

and my cpu is an intel atom

what are the settings to do it good and safe?

  • my pc is overheat

  • Hello, I live at one of the peaks of Mt. Everest and i wanted to ask you that do i need a better cooling system to overclock my CPU?

  • You sound Canadian... amiright?

  • @Rudenko3 You sound american... you don't know what the hell a canadian sounds like.

  • @FieryRedDonkeyOfHell Depends on where they live in Canada. And yes I do know what Canadians sound like. You are the stereotypical American who this all Canadians talk with an aye at the end of every sentence.

  • thanks very much!

  • THANK YOU. i successfully overclocked my system :D

  • where did u learn all this?

  • you sound ASIIIIIIIANNNNNNNNNN!!!

  • Could You tell me please, what difference would be between 200fsb x 13mp and 266fsb x 10mp ? In both cases we have about 2.6Ghz frequency..

  • @cleaneraz09 266 FSB x 10 MP would be faster than 200 FSB x 13 MP, because the FSB would be able to send more information faster at a higher number even though its the same on paper.

  • i just got a nsi h55m-21 mobo and i need to know how to unlock the host clock fer....

  • How to over clock Intel(R)Core(TM)i5 cpu 750 @ 2.67GHz 2.66 GHz Gigabyte P55-us3L 32-bit Operating System.........I have a ram 4 gb with 1333ghz please let me

know and Second i don't why but my computer case pwer button led was brighter

before but now become dim..........thanks bye ........

  • @strangerlover11 cause you overclocked cpu is using the power for the led

  • You use a lot of terms for a 101 video please explain them all. Why not even do a video of what everything in the bios means.

  • What do you mean "hanging"?

  • @iDontFinishAnyt crashing, not responding, failing to boot.

  • @PCWizKid, Will Updating / Flashing My BIOS Unlock My BIOS ?

  • So my question is. Why not just buy that 100 dollar more expensive CPU rather than a cooler? And then also skip this mess:P

  • @Hokrollo1 Because usually CPU can tag to 3.8-4.5ghz, 100 more CPU won't give you that maybe 3.2ghz TOP The new Sandy Bridge OC like madness, there's already people who OC the 2600K to 4.8ghz on Air

  • Can i overclock my e5400 2.7 @ 3.0 without problems?? with stock fan

  • @Jayvi699

Bad idea to overclock a CPU with the stock cooler mate. It only just makes you able to keep it down, not to overclock (at least not if it ends up loading which obviously is what you need OC for).

  • @Hokrollo1 Alright thx for the info :)

  • I have a Amd Athlon ii x4 635 2.9 ghz(standard)

And i overclocked it to 3.15Ghz whit stock cooler.

    Themps stay below 50 celsius

  • Thank you very much. Very useful information

  • I rather buy another procesor..lol

  • do you lose the warranty if you overclock the cpu?

because my new pc just arrived and i want to oc it..it has 3 warranty

  • for AMD, unlocked multipliers are Black Edition. For Intel, unlocked is Extreme Edition, or the K series like the i5 650K or Core i7 875K

  • does overclocking if also done correctly void warrenty of the processor thanks!

  • @bnskks Almost always.

  • Hey, just a quick question; How do you get CPU-Z. I googled it but didn't know what one is the legit one, and is it free etc?

    Thanks.

  • Great Vid!

  • hi in my bios it gives me the option add mghz to my cpu but i cant go any higher cos i cant find my vcore in the bios i found all the voltages that it will let you change but none of them are called vcore so dose that mean i cant change the vcore or is it called something else ? PLEASE HELP ME !!

  • please reply

    i have a dual core CPU (2.1GHz)

is that means i have 4.2 CPU?

i overclocked it and it was 2162 mhz which is just like the 2.1 ghz is that each one or total?????

  • Wait what if we increase the fan speed through the ati overdrive in you other video. And I can't wait to find the limit of my 2.0 ghz processor. Just hope it's 2.4 lol.

  • for the i5/i7s: this is how i do it: first, hit 3.5 Ghz, and see if its stable. if it is, i go to around 3.8 Ghz, check for stablility, then i go on to 4.2 and thats it

  • What exactly does he mean by "if it hangs"?

  • Is this Gigabyte GA-P55-USB3 good for overclocking?

  • hey how do you increase the fsb untill it hangs then increase the voltage untill its stabe? then your done?

  • Question, does repeatedly testing, rebooting, etc and getting hangs hurt/shorten the CPU by any chance?

  • The principle behind overclocking is to get free performance - it's only "risky" if you don't learn how to do it right - and mind you, overclocking is fairly simple to understand.

The lifespan of a CPU is well above 10 years and almost nobody keeps the same PC for more than 5-6 years without risking falling WAY behind technology. If done right, most CPU's will happily overclock 20-30% and easily last long enough till your next PC upgrade - so why not?

  • Not sure if I wan to risk my AMD Phenom II X4 965

  • *starts overclocking blindly*

  • with all them phenons x6 x4 i5 n i7 go eback old dayz and OC pentium 4 :D

  • do you use a gigabyte-mainboard ???

  • 15 people were drunk when they rated this video

  • great vid helped me alot thanx

  • i've got GIGABYTE GA-VM900M V2 at BIOS doesnt appear: Misc. Control,Thermal Throttling, Power User OC and Bios Security Features.

I need to overclock my E5400 cuz it says i'm using 1.2ghz from 2.7 no idea why :(

  • @GogiRB Does it still read 1.2GHz when your processor is on full load? Playing a game, benchmarking, etc.

  • @asdfgoogle yup, i've use FURMARK as a benchmarking and GTA IV and still at 1.2ghz and multiplier at 6.0

  • I need help i have a AMD Phenom(tm) 9550 Quad-Core Processor 2.20.ghz and i did like you say but is still 2.20ghz

  • @Miaumiauize You probably didn't save it. lol. When you edit the information in the BIOS, it affects shit. It's logical. It can't ignore information change.

  • will a Intel Pentium D Work??

  • my multiplier was x 14.0

  • wow wow wow, hold on, i am a total beginner for building pc's, i'm thinking of building a gaming rig and am looking at everything i might/will do. i get overclocking is to increase the performance of your CPU, but, what do you mean by your pc "hanging". PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE, do a vid starting right at the very basics. thanks.

  • @THEANTvids4u I didn't watch the video, but "hanging" typically refers to a computer locking up, freezing, or similarly.

  • I'm so thankful that people like you share the knowledge about computers :D I find computers very interesting, and it's always cool to know more about it because you have bragging rights :D

    Thank you so much PCWizKid

  • How can i tell if a board has good overclocking ability?... sorry if it is a stupid question

  • intel > AMD

  • what do u recommend? for me as a total beginner.

    1. if i have a black edition and could easily just increase multiplier to OC instead of FSB? I read that FSB is harder to OC, but also better.

    2. Do i have to stress test each time i increase FSB/multiplier?

    3. how long should each stress test be?

  • @constipationnow Increasing the multiplier is the first thing you do to overclock. With Intel processors/motherboards, they come standard set to highest value.

Typically when I feel satisfied with my overclock, I'll stress test for 10-30min. If it's good, it'll likely stay that way. The real test is playing games, encoding, etc. Those are what really matter. If the computer locks up or restarts or has trouble booting up, you should tweek your OC.

  • @asdfgoogle ah i c, but do u increase -> stress, increase more -> stress, etc until its not stable then u increase voltage -> stress, increase -> stress ? and if its stable, u overclock more and then voltage more. is that how u do it?

  • What if you have a stock cooling system? Can you increase the CPU'S Speed very slightly? Or is that too much heat for example, My computer Has only one processing unit, and it runs at 2.2 Ghz.. It is a Intel(R) Celeron(R) 900

  • @2010MegaScooter Stock is fine for minimal overclocking. Since your processor is literally like 8 years old, there is no point to overclock, as you will see ZERO improvement in today's applications.

  • @asdfgoogle

    Hey, thanks bud.. :)

  • i need some help i have a bios exactly the same but without M.i.T and without Overclocking Settings how i overclock actually for me its not overclock i have a pentium 4 3.0GHz and the problem is that he is using 1.5 and has 800FSB my cpu should run perfectly on 3.2 or 3.4 i cant understand why the cpu speed 1.5 and the processor its 3.0GHz

  • @gaby232323 Some motherboards reduce clock speeds when the processor is idle or under low pressure to reduce power consumption. Essentially, it runs the processor on the lowest multiplier. It does it automatically. As soon as additional resources are required, the multiplier will jump back up to where you set it, such as when gaming or encoding a video.

I would assume that processor has a minimum multiplier of 7.5, as 15 appears to be it's highest value.

  • Hi pcwizkid, I have a question. Is an artic cooling freezer 7 ok for overclocking? And to what level?

  • @scary989 yes it is

  • i have the black edition phenom II x4 955. and my mobo is kinda confusing, but this vid helped a lot! getting 3.4ghz with stock cooler right now, ordered a new one right now! hope to get it up to about 3.6

  • eay :) thx man ;) anyway can u help me... what can i do if my bios is locked... nothing at all? except buying an another motherboard?

  • What do you mean by 'hang'?

  • what do you mean by "hangs"?

  • OverClocking is extremely bad to do. When you need more voltage to your Cpu it causes your Motherboard and Power unit capacitors to rise in temperature which meaning it wears them out to eventually they blow the cap off the top. Just a word of advice for people looking to overclock. Also is the capacitors get too hot they will blow and i have had this happen.

  • Asus P5Q Deluxe / Q9450 / air cooled with a Arctic Cooling Freezer Pro 7... what overclock do you think is achievable? thanks

  • what do you mean by hanging?

  • @olliegamer freezing

  • Does the Asus M4A785-M Motherboard support overclocking?

  • Can i set the core voltage more then the factory max?

  • Motherboard Name Gigabyte GA-M68M-S2P Do Support OC?..

please cuz i dont find the option for oc.,

  • THANK YOU!!!!! I used to have an auto overclock thing built into my motherboard. It had 3 settings but only 1 was stable at 3.2. THEN I saw this!!! I learned basic manual overclocking and now IT'S OVER 3.8 GHZ!!!

  • I need help finding out if my computer is "safe" for overclocking. Can you please give me an e-mail or something to see if you can tell if my PC is safe?

  • what does a hang look like? like a freeze or BOSD?

  • Please make a end of my computer :D

    Its haz to kill!

  • what kind of program can i use to probe de stability of my computer?

    the names please. good video.
