@ArcheysGames change fsb to about 250 and multiplier to x16, BUT be safe and move up little by little. also might want to amp up the voltage to 1.35-1.4. USE AMPLE COOLING!!!!!!!!!!!
What does it mean when he says "Hang" all the time? Also how would you find out the temperature of your processor and everything? Is it built into the software or do you have to get some kind of piece to attach or something?
@kickit246 By hang, he means your system would just freeze up, meaning you went to far or you didn't give enough voltage. As for temperature, I would try Google-ing RealTemp, it's always fairly accurate.
i unclock x2 to x4 B50 processor..but cpu temp is above 80+++......im using speedfan software for checking temp....software showing like this temp1- 55'C, Core1- 70-80, Core2 - 104C, HD0 - 87C...........could u temme how much voltage need to be increase or decreasing nd how to reduce cpu temp....

How can I find the overclocking timing for my Ram? Standard is 9-9-9-24. My goal is to reach no less than 3.8, hopefully I can go over 4.0 that would be just awesome. Your input will be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!.

Should I Overclock my PC to get the most out of it and if yes how high could I go without risk...as you can see I don't have much knowledge with PC's.
@lazydany1 Overclocking is running components at higher speeds, so that also means ingreasing the amount of GHz. How high you can go all depends on your setup. But yes sometimes from 3GHz to 4Ghz is possible, you will need good cooling for that though, so if your using a stock heatsink replace that one to start with.
How do you know when you've reached the "max". For instance, you say you were only able to get 206 out of it (towards the end of the vid), how did you know that this was its limit?
The maximum limit is determined by how hot it gets. In general, you don't want it to pass 60 degrees Celsius, it depends on the CPU though. The more you overclock it, the hotter it gets. So he would have tested it under load (playing a game or running a benchmark) while running a program that records the temperatures. Using a good CPU cooler allows you to overclock it more without it getting too hot.
i almost burned my i7 because my epu-6 went into powersaver mode and switched my water pump off but i was pushing 4.02ghz at the time! Very Good vid!!! I learned alot!
@misterune intell recommend to not go higher than 1.25 volts but you can all was push it if 60c is your max then i should be fine but you could alwas try to decrease you cpu volts bit by bit until it wont boot and just try and find a lover voltage thats still stable
the last thing you want is a burned computer, now he tells you that if you do it incorrectly you will burn the CPU....that is true no doubts there however he left out a few other things, because the CPU is not the only thing that will be burnned out, you also have very high chances in fact you will have chances of burning your other components as well such as the mother board, graphics card, ram even your power supply....like I said before, don't OC unless you are an expert, use factory speeds
I want to say something about overclocking.....you don't have to do it at all seriously it's really not necessary, because if you're building like lets say a $ 2,000 computer, you wont see any need to overclock, it will run amazingly regardless, if you have an amazing graphics card and expensive powerful cpu, there is no need, I'm just saying this so you don't have to go through the risk of overclocking. If you're afraid of doing it or don't know what you are doing, then don't do it, k ppl?
i just oc'ed my 2500k to 4.5ghz seems stable so far , prime 95 has been running for a little more than a half hour, temps were not too bad, 68 max and avg 64, do u think i can push it more?? im currently at 1.3 vcore

@hjtjegrinwis it is when you up the clock speed over something so it is over the original speed. e.g. overclock the cpu from 3ghz to 3.4ghz. It will increase the speed but, if done incorrectly, can severly damage or completely burn out your cpu.

I have a question with the overclock i maybe have the same procesor like you amd sempron 3000+ Manila 1.60 ghz but I bought a motherboard Asrock N68-C UCC and i want to know how much i can overclock the processor? can you help or tel me plss 10 x ;)
@Hokrollo1 Because usually CPU can tag to 3.8-4.5ghz, 100 more CPU won't give you that maybe 3.2ghz TOP The new Sandy Bridge OC like madness, there's already people who OC the 2600K to 4.8ghz on Air
Bad idea to overclock a CPU with the stock cooler mate. It only just makes you able to keep it down, not to overclock (at least not if it ends up loading which obviously is what you need OC for).
hi in my bios it gives me the option add mghz to my cpu but i cant go any higher cos i cant find my vcore in the bios i found all the voltages that it will let you change but none of them are called vcore so dose that mean i cant change the vcore or is it called something else ? PLEASE HELP ME !!
Wait what if we increase the fan speed through the ati overdrive in you other video. And I can't wait to find the limit of my 2.0 ghz processor. Just hope it's 2.4 lol.
for the i5/i7s: this is how i do it: first, hit 3.5 Ghz, and see if its stable. if it is, i go to around 3.8 Ghz, check for stablility, then i go on to 4.2 and thats it
The principle behind overclocking is to get free performance - it's only "risky" if you don't learn how to do it right - and mind you, overclocking is fairly simple to understand.
The lifespan of a CPU is well above 10 years and almost nobody keeps the same PC for more than 5-6 years without risking falling WAY behind technology. If done right, most CPU's will happily overclock 20-30% and easily last long enough till your next PC upgrade - so why not?
@Miaumiauize You probably didn't save it. lol. When you edit the information in the BIOS, it affects shit. It's logical. It can't ignore information change.
wow wow wow, hold on, i am a total beginner for building pc's, i'm thinking of building a gaming rig and am looking at everything i might/will do. i get overclocking is to increase the performance of your CPU, but, what do you mean by your pc "hanging". PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE, do a vid starting right at the very basics. thanks.
I'm so thankful that people like you share the knowledge about computers :D I find computers very interesting, and it's always cool to know more about it because you have bragging rights :D
@constipationnow Increasing the multiplier is the first thing you do to overclock. With Intel processors/motherboards, they come standard set to highest value.
Typically when I feel satisfied with my overclock, I'll stress test for 10-30min. If it's good, it'll likely stay that way. The real test is playing games, encoding, etc. Those are what really matter. If the computer locks up or restarts or has trouble booting up, you should tweek your OC.
@asdfgoogle ah i c, but do u increase -> stress, increase more -> stress, etc until its not stable then u increase voltage -> stress, increase -> stress ? and if its stable, u overclock more and then voltage more. is that how u do it?
What if you have a stock cooling system? Can you increase the CPU'S Speed very slightly? Or is that too much heat for example, My computer Has only one processing unit, and it runs at 2.2 Ghz.. It is a Intel(R) Celeron(R) 900
@2010MegaScooter Stock is fine for minimal overclocking. Since your processor is literally like 8 years old, there is no point to overclock, as you will see ZERO improvement in today's applications.
i need some help i have a bios exactly the same but without M.i.T and without Overclocking Settings how i overclock actually for me its not overclock i have a pentium 4 3.0GHz and the problem is that he is using 1.5 and has 800FSB my cpu should run perfectly on 3.2 or 3.4 i cant understand why the cpu speed 1.5 and the processor its 3.0GHz
@gaby232323 Some motherboards reduce clock speeds when the processor is idle or under low pressure to reduce power consumption. Essentially, it runs the processor on the lowest multiplier. It does it automatically. As soon as additional resources are required, the multiplier will jump back up to where you set it, such as when gaming or encoding a video.
I would assume that processor has a minimum multiplier of 7.5, as 15 appears to be it's highest value.
i have the black edition phenom II x4 955. and my mobo is kinda confusing, but this vid helped a lot! getting 3.4ghz with stock cooler right now, ordered a new one right now! hope to get it up to about 3.6
OverClocking is extremely bad to do. When you need more voltage to your Cpu it causes your Motherboard and Power unit capacitors to rise in temperature which meaning it wears them out to eventually they blow the cap off the top. Just a word of advice for people looking to overclock. Also is the capacitors get too hot they will blow and i have had this happen.
THANK YOU!!!!! I used to have an auto overclock thing built into my motherboard. It had 3 settings but only 1 was stable at 3.2. THEN I saw this!!! I learned basic manual overclocking and now IT'S OVER 3.8 GHZ!!!
I need help finding out if my computer is "safe" for overclocking. Can you please give me an e-mail or something to see if you can tell if my PC is safe?
I just think what do you mean when you say if the computer hanging? :)

Could You tell me please, what difference would be between 200fsb x 13mp and 266fsb x 10mp ? In both cases we have about 2.6Ghz frequency..
cleaneraz09 11 months ago
@cleaneraz09 266 FSB x 10 MP would be faster than 200 FSB x 13 MP, because the FSB would be able to send more information faster at a higher number even though its the same on paper.

So my question is. Why not just buy that 100 dollar more expensive CPU rather than a cooler? And then also skip this mess:P
Hokrollo1 1 year ago
@Hokrollo1 Because usually CPU can tag to 3.8-4.5ghz, 100 more CPU won't give you that maybe 3.2ghz TOP The new Sandy Bridge OC like madness, there's already people who OC the 2600K to 4.8ghz on Air

Can i overclock my e5400 2.7 @ 3.0 without problems?? with stock fan
Jayvi699 1 year ago
@Jayvi699
Bad idea to overclock a CPU with the stock cooler mate. It only just makes you able to keep it down, not to overclock (at least not if it ends up loading which obviously is what you need OC for).

@Hokrollo1 Alright thx for the info :)

for AMD, unlocked multipliers are Black Edition. For Intel, unlocked is Extreme Edition, or the K series like the i5 650K or Core i7 875K

i have a dual core CPU (2.1GHz)
is that means i have 4.2 CPU?
i overclocked it and it was 2162 mhz which is just like the 2.1 ghz is that each one or total?????

Wait what if we increase the fan speed through the ati overdrive in you other video. And I can't wait to find the limit of my 2.0 ghz processor. Just hope it's 2.4 lol.
expertnoobFTW 1 year ago
for the i5/i7s: this is how i do it: first, hit 3.5 Ghz, and see if its stable. if it is, i go to around 3.8 Ghz, check for stablility, then i go on to 4.2 and thats it

JakeDylanReview 1 year ago
Question, does repeatedly testing, rebooting, etc and getting hangs hurt/shorten the CPU by any chance?
Xuvial 1 year ago
The principle behind overclocking is to get free performance - it's only "risky" if you don't learn how to do it right - and mind you, overclocking is fairly simple to understand.
The lifespan of a CPU is well above 10 years and almost nobody keeps the same PC for more than 5-6 years without risking falling WAY behind technology. If done right, most CPU's will happily overclock 20-30% and easily last long enough till your next PC upgrade - so why not?

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE, do a vid starting right at the very basics. thanks.
THEANTvids4u 1 year ago
@THEANTvids4u I didn't watch the video, but "hanging" typically refers to a computer locking up, freezing, or similarly.

How can i tell if a board has good overclocking ability?... sorry if it is a stupid question

intel > AMD
PrkchpsNaplsaws 1 year ago
what do u recommend? for me as a total beginner.
1. if i have a black edition and could easily just increase multiplier to OC instead of FSB? I read that FSB is harder to OC, but also better.
2. Do i have to stress test each time i increase FSB/multiplier?
3. how long should each stress test be?
constipationnow 1 year ago
@constipationnow Increasing the multiplier is the first thing you do to overclock. With Intel processors/motherboards, they come standard set to highest value.
Typically when I feel satisfied with my overclock, I'll stress test for 10-30min. If it's good, it'll likely stay that way. The real test is playing games, encoding, etc. Those are what really matter. If the computer locks up or restarts or has trouble booting up, you should tweek your OC.
asdfgoogle 1 year ago
@asdfgoogle ah i c, but do u increase -> stress, increase more -> stress, etc until its not stable then u increase voltage -> stress, increase -> stress ? and if its stable, u overclock more and then voltage more. is that how u do it?
constipationnow 1 year ago
What if you have a stock cooling system? Can you increase the CPU'S Speed very slightly? Or is that too much heat for example, My computer Has only one processing unit, and it runs at 2.2 Ghz.. It is a Intel(R) Celeron(R) 900
2010MegaScooter 1 year ago
@2010MegaScooter Stock is fine for minimal overclocking. Since your processor is literally like 8 years old, there is no point to overclock, as you will see ZERO improvement in today's applications.

i need some help i have a bios exactly the same but without M.i.T and without Overclocking Settings how i overclock actually for me its not overclock i have a pentium 4 3.0GHz and the problem is that he is using 1.5 and has 800FSB my cpu should run perfectly on 3.2 or 3.4 i cant understand why the cpu speed 1.5 and the processor its 3.0GHz
gaby232323 1 year ago
@gaby232323 Some motherboards reduce clock speeds when the processor is idle or under low pressure to reduce power consumption. Essentially, it runs the processor on the lowest multiplier. It does it automatically. As soon as additional resources are required, the multiplier will jump back up to where you set it, such as when gaming or encoding a video.
I would assume that processor has a minimum multiplier of 7.5, as 15 appears to be it's highest value.

what do you mean by "hangs"?
came2nd 1 year ago
OverClocking is extremely bad to do. When you need more voltage to your Cpu it causes your Motherboard and Power unit capacitors to rise in temperature which meaning it wears them out to eventually they blow the cap off the top. Just a word of advice for people looking to overclock. Also is the capacitors get too hot they will blow and i have had this happen.
