Haha woow.. your pathetic. Making stuff up about Paula? Realy? Its people like you who who tear apart peoples carrers that i just dont get. What has Paula EVER done to you? And people beliving this stuff? Again pathetic.
Oh my god people, how can you say all this mean and unconsiderent stuff about Paula? This is completely not true at all she has never been drunk, has never done drugs and she was never addicted any medication so quit all the fucking rumors and lies this is making her feel so upset and if you hate her or something then dont show it by making up shit that is not true about the one and only Paula Abdul!
I don't understand the hoo-haw. Dancers have been taking pain medication in increasing doses since forever, it's a risk you take for doing what you love.
Try dancing for one hour, full out, no breaks, psyched and smiling, not missing a step every night for 25 years. Then we'll talk.
i hope your subject to negative reinforcement but you're a very bad news reporter. you look like you're leaning over and your voice just doesn't it at all. to be a reporter you have to have the look and the voice, especially the voice.
Those statistics where you say that the sales of painkillers have gone up by 90% is bogus. The "first" 100% (the 1997 one) is like 1/6 of the 2009 one. That is to say, the 1997 should be a little more than half the height of the 2009 one and it's not.
Don't try to make things seem more than it is by twisting statistics. (And yes, 90% is still ALOT)
Alright, maybe I worded that wrong I apologize. But addicts do experience cravings. Like a smoker might say "I need a cigarette."
If you are just physically dependent on something, you don't even think about it. You just take it regularly are fine. You only experience withdrawal if you STOP taking the medication abruptly, but it's not in any way psychological.
It's so hard to explain, I'm sorry.
just GOOGLE addiction vs. dependence and you'll see tons of stuff on it.
I know the extra effort is probably annoying.. but I think it's worth it.. because so many people get the two terms confused and it really sucks for people who have to face the public disdain AND the woes of whatever condition they have to be treating, when withdrawal will happen whether you are addicted to it or not.
People see "dependent" and automatically think "addict". I've known addicts AND dependents.. TRUST ME there's a difference.
and I have years of first hand experience being dependent on prescribed medication. AND my dad's a sober alcoholic. I know what I'm talking about (I"m sure you do too of course) but even with my first hand knowledge I googled it and learned a lot.Just do it for a second you might realize something about your own case.A lot people might say they are addicts but not really be in the true sense of the word Not saying you, but some ppl think they are addicts when they aren't actually abusing drugs
You have some of your facts wrong, which is unprofessional. But I can see why you would, since a lot of tabs did the same thing, which is why there's this whole big mess in the first place.
She never admitted to being addicted to painkillers. She said she checked into a SPA (NOT REHAB) to let her body adjust when she went off of some medications she had become chemically dependent on. It makes you have withdrawal, but it DOES NOT mean you are addicted. In contrast, it means your body --
is dependent on functioning with the med and therefore getting off it will shock your system. It doesn't mean you are abusing the meds, nor are you even craving them. You would NEED the medication to go about daily life, just like anyone else who has medication. Something you would take on a regular basis that makes you able to function normally. Getting off of regular meds is REALLY hard cold-turkey, but if it were addiction she would have needed rehab to do it, not a spa.
You can google the diff between dependency and addiction.
It's degrading to say that she was addicted if all she was doing was trying to live her life normally and not abusing her meds. As someone who has to take regular meds, I'm sorry for going on about it but I personally feel obligated to correct some of the misconceptions, for anyone else that has to face some kind of pain AS WELL AS unwarranted disdain from ppl who dont kno the diff. And paula abdul was in a plane crash. Medicine=needed.
thanks for listening.. ppl can get rly rude on here..
It really depends on the kind of meds you have to take. If you have to take a substantial dose of pretty much any kind of medication for a long period of time, your body will get used to having those chmeicals around. So if you just cut them off abruptly, your body can have really bad reactions, particularly in the cases of pain/nerve medications and some antidepressants.
It happens with pretty much most medications, but the "withdrawal" isn't usually as bad with "normal" medication-- the shock to your system if you are discontinuing birth control pills or allergy medication could just mean your periods or allergies going wonky for a bit. The shock to your system in the case of pain medication, some SSRI's is physically similar in nature to the withdrawal one might have if they had been abusing opioid meds or drugs/alcohol. The difference is that --
if you are just chemically dependent on it, this withdrawal will only happen when you discontinue the medicine abruptly. Otherwise you are a perfectly normal human being. The problem is these kinds of medications affect your nervous system, so you have problems when you just stop em like that. I only had to once, and it makes sense that she'd go to a spa to make herself as comfortable as possible to go through that chaos.
Addicts experience cravings and this withdrawal thing all the time. They take outrageous amounts and constantly think about it, wanting the drug.
People who are dependent on meds just take it and do what the doctor tells them to, not because of how it makes them feel but because it allows them to function normally just like people who take medication for seizures or something.
They're just a pain to get off of. But it's not a rehab situation, it's just a sick feeling.
Haha woow.. your pathetic. Making stuff up about Paula? Realy? Its people like you who who tear apart peoples carrers that i just dont get. What has Paula EVER done to you? And people beliving this stuff? Again pathetic.

that is a good definition of addiction

Does this make sense?
Addicts experience cravings and this withdrawal thing all the time. They take outrageous amounts and constantly think about it, wanting the drug.
People who are dependent on meds just take it and do what the doctor tells them to, not because of how it makes them feel but because it allows them to function normally just like people who take medication for seizures or something.

no, addicts do not experience cravings "all the time"...... when she has taken her pain killers she will be OK until the effects wear off
putitrightagain 2 years ago
difference:
addiction: OMG need it now give it to me now I need drugs NOWW. *feels like crap*
*takes it*
*an hour later*
I want more.
dependence:
*normal*
getting off of it:
*feels like crap*
