  • rob i love your pokies

  • is that an indian ornamental? i cant decide wether to get one of those or a t. blondi what would u recommend?

  • hey just got a pink toe, first T now that i dont deploy anymore. was watching ome vids on molting, this one is about 2 inches maybe 3 will i have to "encourage" her to get out of the shell once shes done? also, supposedly they are communal, can i breed this sexy beast? thanks in advance. doc

  • I haven’t got any tarantulas because I am not allowed un till I am older :( but I have got spiders that I breed. I hate it when this happens with mine. Sometimes I put food in and they get scared and eat it or they kill the pray and eat the pray. It’s annoying because some time I don’t know should I risk it or not.

  • I love the blue color to this spider, but i've seen other vids and they get fairly large... gonna get a G. Rosea soon, Will be my 1st T. and hopefully not get big enough to drag me away and eat me lol gorgeous T. BTW, Haven't seen a spider you have that isn't beautiful +1

  • My hamster ate its babies after they were given birth D;

  • @NinjaBlade778 yeah, next time remove the male from the cage...

  • hey rob well this definatly wasnt one of your better days!! that isnt a good site to find!!

when breeding OBTs just wondering how long it should take the female to drop an egg sack? i pair my male female about 2 months ago they did there thing which looked to be! and her abdomin is looking pretty fat and she has been acting a little different is all this normal and should she have droped a sack by now? thanks for your time!!!

  • @Hadsatriani Should be 70 days maybe 90

  • probably off topic, but i can't believe people argue with rob. i mean Every T entusiest knows him and has gotten help from him in some way. IM SURE.

  • dont mean to be a smartass. when they have an egg sack you dont even feed them or go near them. trust me. they will eat it if something goes near them.

  • @killerslayer543 Trust me I know that...I have been doing this for 23 years and it is NOT if you go near them....it is if they get stressed enough to eat it. I had her tank covered in a selaed room.

  • @tarantulaguy1976 oh.... one question aswell... tarantula breeding, you make cash on it O_o?

  • @tarantulaguy1976 dude i hate spiders idk why maybe has to do with the brown recluse bite i got a few years back, almost lost my arm. made a full recovery and now im trying to understand these creatures a little better. any suggestions on how to get over my fears. and out of shits n giggles how much was that egg sack worth you think.

  • how much would that have cost?

  • @fholm13

looking into the thousands. One of these are $200 as babies

  • @Jon3800 Is that per baby?? or for a few of them?

  • @kioti15

Nooo...they are per baby. We get them here for $250 as 3/4'' spiderlings. Never seen this species below the $200 mark. These are priced high because the surviving eggsac is pretty low, they're in high demand, and they're not many people who breed them

  • @kioti15

However, a $1000+ would be the price for the entire group. No adays P.metallica are becoming more readily available now when they were back a few years ago, so we'll see the pricing becomes affordable.

I remember buying 2 of mine in 2008-2009 for $200...the prices were $400 per sling back in 07 lol. Expensive

Now it's a question of breeding much rare Pokies like hanumavilasumica and P.smithi into the hobby. I've got these 2 rare gems

  • @Jon3800 nice

  • why would she eat her own egg sack?

  • @sweetXricerockets she was hungry

  • How much was the sac worth, roughly?

  • @AnObeseAardvark

    Alot..

  • how much would you have gotten for heer sac?

  • Just out of curiousity, as I'm not don't know much for the spiderling pricing.. about how expensive was that meal?

  • ©Vivek41175 it is actually a vertical 10 gal.

  • Do those spiders ever take a dump and if they do what does their poop look like?

  • @Kdkretch1993 yes it was.

  • was this Saphire?

  • they r kind of like mice, some eat their babies, some dont.

  • @2800aaa probably less stress!

  • Dude is it some kind of protest ? How do they survive in nature if they eat their eggs ?

  • @2800aaa I have heard of spiders doing this, but it definetly doesn't happen too often. It maybe that the younger females do this. Animals have a tendency from time to time to eat their first litter, especially when it comes to rabbits and rodents, and usually a young female in most cases. Maybe spiders are the same except they are eating their young in the eggstage. Chickens will eat their own eggs also.

  • @lephucminh84 No they do not.

  • Question Does T spider have deadly poison?

  • @lephucminh84 All T's are venomous, which is different from poisonous. Poisonous means deadly. Venomous is obviously not (unless you're allergic). The venom is used to basically paralyze their prey, and different T's have different venom strengths. (Meaning: If a G rosea bites you, it most likely will feel like a bee sting, but if a P ornata bites you, it's gonna hurt and hurt for awhile.) Sorry if I rambled... :-)

  • @kimmikat6487 Actually a Poisonous vs. a Venomous animal is simply in the way in which it's toxin is delivered. Poison, must be ingested or absorbed. Venom, is subcutaneously delivered via sting or bite. To be both poisonous AND venomous is rare but does occur in some species of birds. Hope you cool with the correction!

  • do spiders puke? do you know if they get full of food? again i dont mean to offend serious question

  • @BitOveRate No offense at all....I have never seen one do it!!!

  • sorry to hear about the eggsac, that's really a pain because when breeding has its chances. she's so beautiful btw...

  • Is this a P.regalis? I wanna buy this one they're beautiful. Now I have a L.parahybana and G.rosea. What about the venom of this one? you think I can buy one like these? Im not a kid who''s playing with his animals lol. Never touch them.

  • @thebetterhaloplayer This is a P. metallica (Gooty Saphire Ornamental) 750.00 LOL!! I actually have a Female p. regalis for sale though...she is also a proven breeder.

  • @tarantulaguy1976 Are you serious 750 euros?? Are all P.metallica's like that expensive?? :S Woow every specie I like is expensive as hell! Im 18 years old and I already got a spider and snake obssesion xD Can you give me an idea bout the price of a P.regalis? Or another great spider from that family?

  • @tarantulaguy1976 keep your chin up Rob, this species is giving you a run for your money! That should make it exciting for you. Come on buddy! You can't give up now =)

  • OMG, that is officially a BIG loss! To bad man!

  • that realy sucks

  • At least she didn't eat the male too >_<

  • Ohhhhhh.... I'm so sorry :(

  • hmm

    where is the meal ?

  • @GRoseaHelpMe she ate her eggsac

  • @tarantulaguy1976 how do you know that ?

  • @GRoseaHelpMe THe egg-sac was gone? LOL!!

  • @tarantulaguy1976 that is bad.....

i hate evil spider moms that can think only of his eat

    (sry for my english)

  • @tarantulaguy1976 sry for my bad english

    GRAMMOSTOLA ROSEA BEST

  • @tarantulaguy1976 hahaha

  • blue is my fav color

  • rob you have to breed these again my dad said that in sri lanka people are willing to pay like $1100 for these because they live high in tree tops and are hard to come across but are treasured with there exquisite beauty...by far my favorite T

  • hey rob good title for this vid because p. mettalicas are the most expensive tarantula in the trade

  • Fuck. that sucks. P.metallica chosts around 300? or what. :(

  • Well.... that sucks..... but if she ever lays another eggsac the spiderlings will probably be healthier. like in some mammals. because of the genes of the previous offspring or somethin like that.......

  • @TheTarantulaBoy1996 She is gravid again so we will see!!

  • @TheTarantulaBoy1996 not so much the genes of the previous offspring as no genetic material would be taken from the eggs being digested. The nutrients on the other hand would provide the newer offspring with an increased amount of fitness

  • @mechajabo so this means you're going to try again then, riiiight!? =D

  • Just a thought Rob, is it possible this species, tends to leave their sac once its laid? Cos it might be an innate competitive behavior between females to feed on egg sacs which they presume to belong to those of other females... considering that they possibly live within close proximity with other individuals... sorry, I'm rather new to tarantulas

  • where did you get your metallica at? Im looking for p. metallica slings

  • Shit! Is that the same one that bit you? Geez! That was an expensive meal!!!

  • What's wrong? I don't understand as well... Thanks

  • The female ate her eggsac, it sucks LOL

  • Oh, that is sad :-( You have a nice spiders. Please, could you tell me which tarantulas are great for beginners? I mean tree tarantulas like P.ornata, A versicolor etc. Thank you, guy :-)

  • By the way, I have G. rosea and B. smithi and I want tree spiders :-)

  • @HateMeFade then you wont go wrong with a common pink toe (Avicularia avicularia)

  • he said on another video that mexican red knees are good for beginners

  • mexican red knee tarantulas are relly good for beginners.

  • @HateMeFade If you whant tree living spider then any Avicularia are great for beginners, just remember they are seriusly fast. Brachypelma's are great aswell(most of them).

  • :-(

  • That sucks, sorry.

  • That really sucks Rob, I was looking forward to seeing the baby metallicas and purchasing a few but please breed her again, live and learn and make some metallica babies lol

  • Also they live in cavity's of trees nd it is about 80-90% humidity...so I think she is just a bitch LOL

  • Na, my t-room is kept at 85% Plus LOL

  • That really stinks Rob. Is that normal for them to eat their own egg sacs?

  • This sp seem s to do it more often!!

  • Holy hell! That freaking blows! I'm sorry!

  • that sucks!good luck next time!

  • damn!!!!!!

  • No!!!! Damnit! I was totally hoping for Christmas money to throw down on a P. metallica baby! Suck!

  • You haqve no idea how pissed I was...words can never descibe it!!!

  • @tarantulaguy1976 So you only bred her once?

  • Well that still sucks man hopefully she'll produce more sacs without her eating them next time.

  • gutted for you and all those people who wont get to buy one......next time....

  • Sorry to see the loss Rob,your one of the reasons I got into this great hobby ,and why I purchased P.Metallica they are beutiful Ts and I cant wait to breed mine when they get large enough keep doing what you do

  • so why is it expensive?

  • SilverQweenie, just one P. metallica baby can be sold for $175.00 a piece and with 150 to 200 eggs with at mortalitly rate of 25% that leaves 80 to 90 eggs alive thats around $12,000 to $15,000 dollars give or take.

  • I usualy have less the 5% motality, so it would be a good $20,000..but I am more upset that hobbiest will not get to enjoy them :(

  • I'm sorry Rob, i wasn't saying you would loss that many i was just using a bigger percent to make a point, And yea it does suck cause i would love a couple, but don't get discouraged you will have some babies!!! You are a awesome T keeper and i look up to you and respect you.

  • Actually you are right, that is the normal mortality...I am glad you posted it, very good info!! I will not be beat again!! i wll get another sac, I will get more slings!! LOLOL

  • Well let me know cause i wanna buy some. I need some more Pokeys for the collection.

  • I do have P. regalis slings for sale on my store.

  • Yeah i saw that right after i ordered one from your buddy paul becker. It should be here Wednesday.

  • wow $20000,

    you could of been reach

  • Ahh, I see

    I know what metallica worth

but he didnt spend that to claim to loose that, no?

    anyway,

one of my Formosa killed male that I paid 130+35 shipping, That was expensive

    she didnt even eat him

that was waste of nice male

  • oh man that sucks dude any reason why she eat the eggs? I thought if you disturb them they will eat their young..

still sorry for your lost man im guessing that's the Versicolor right?

  • Waty worse!! It is The P. metallica (Gooty Saphire Ornamental).

  • I agree with you wholeheartedly on pulling the sac early on next time. You know she can produce. I know you'll learn from this and get it done.

  • why would they eat this? Is it because a routine is not something this species is used to *feeding schedule, or is it just because sometimes in their nature they do something off like this? I feed ever Wednesday and sometimes Sundays. They come out (brazilian pink) to lurk and see if anything else is out, but otherwise all is well and fine.

  • Oh no! What a shame.

  • just keep trying man!

  • Comment removed

  • bad week huh?

  • Dont give up yet rob, your right it completly sucks what happened. And no doubt none of us know what its like to have that happen, but you've got to help the world out with the p.metallica pet population, it is your destiny! lol

  • the good happenings will be beck wit you rob.your passion will always save you.

  • Sorry about this Rob, I was pretty excited about this breeding program.

I think she has an instinct to treat anomalies as if a parasite had invaded the sac. Any of your actions not consistent with what she would find in nature is I think anomalous. Sorry again pal.

  • oh man that sucks Rob but please don't give up on breeding this species cause we for sure need more of them in this hobby.

  • And that Folks is why the P mettalica is hard to breed right. Sorry rob you did good man everything went perfect. But you live and learn breed her again. it was your first time with the species. You can get her again. DONT GIVE UP.

There endangered in the wild : /

  • Dam man? sucks I really hope that dosnt happen to you again.. NO wonder there so rare.

  • dang rob, you've got some bad luck this past week.

first the ornata bite, then you lose two expensive species egg sacs

i know how you feel, but not as bad.

i bred my vieja cichlids this summer and everytime i leave the eggs in there for more than 2 nights, they disappear. so i took the chance and took them out once i saw it. half of them hatch, the other half dies, but it's better than nothing.

  • that realy sucks im sorry

  • Thats awful news, but based on the title I thought she ate the male

  • well if he got acouple hundred slings out of it and ... he sold each 1 at a $100 ...he just lost $10,000 and it was possible to get 200 slings so yea dats a really expensive meal =/

  • :( :( :(

  • Maybe it will help others!!

  • rob you see tarantulas which are rare in the wild isnt it possible to buy them and breed the to bring the population back up or something i havent got any tarantulas but they are quite interesting so yeah

  • OMG! Rob man I am soooo sorry. You have my complete sympathy. I can't believe that....and it was only 17 days....Wow....I am just so sorry.

  • that is one hell of a bad few days mate! hope your luck (and hand) gets better....

  • That sucks :[

  • this blows, HARD!! all that effort. gutted man

  • Oh god....... I'm sorry that happened! I wouldn't give up on this species just yet, you were so close!

  • they eat the web???

  • that really sucks!

  • oh maaaan that SUCKS! so sorry for you man :(

  • your having a bit of a crappy week, chin up rob

  • is that a gooty saphire ornamental or a cobalt? im not too keen on spiders

  • its a gooty saphire ornamental P.Metallica

  • Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh fuck that sucks

  • Also just wanted to say bad luck strikes in 3s, Soo you got a bite, She ate her sac, the other one messed its sac up, you should be in the clear now =P go buy a lotto ticket,

  • OMG thats awful.

  • God your having some crap luck l8ly srry bout all tht.

  • OMG, that is sooooooo shitty. sorry to hear about the huge loss rob

  • Anyway - you still have beauty girl :D Good luck next time :)

  • How come the tarantula ate her own sac? is this something they do often?

  • @Rylan46 I understand that certain species will do this. Quite sad really and seems anti-nature, doesn't it?

  • you should breed them again, i bet it would work if you pulled the sack at a week

  • When I read the title I felt the worst was to come, and my thoughts were correct. Learn from mistakes.

  • You should definitly try breeding her again Rob.

Sorry to hear it didnt work out this time.

  • Wow that just sucks. It pains me :(

  • My jaw was hanging open like an idiot while watching this...That SUCKS!! I'm so sorry :-( I don't think you should give up just yet though! How many times have you tried breeding this species?

  • This was the 1st time LOL

  • sorry to here that man :( that really do suck

  • You should took the sack right after she left it. Sorry.

  • I actually examined the sac yesterday, because she left it for a few minutes...it looked & felt good, should have just kept the godamn thing!!!

  • Maybe that's why she ate it ....... because you messed with it?

  • Na, they are prone to this...but it will not happen again!!

  • how can you be sure it wont happens?

she wont tell you when is dinner planned, huh

  • If I have to I will pull the sac the second she is done, I have done this and been successful, but it takes a lot of monitoring!!

  • That's some rotten luck right there. Sorry bout that. It wouldn't surprise me if you didn't breed her. I don't blame ya a bit.

  • I may, I had thought of doing a very bad thing to her, of cours I wouldn't...it is not her fault....but I still did have the thought!!!

  • What, OMG sorry to hear Rob

  • o0 man that really sucks thats like 100 eggs gone.POOF!

  • sorry Rob, sucks
