i think you guys should make a frisco engine aka. frisco 1500,4400 or 4300 class 4-8-2's that would be nice the only ones u could find are brass which cost about $1,000.
are you guys ever go to make any the n&w 100 seires k2 class 4-8-2 engines they look alot like the 600 series n&w j class 4-8-4s but its still a steam engine of its own class they even were running the rails before the j class came about in 1941 i want one in o gauge its a good idea and they will sell
On your MTH Signature Series are you going to release more road numbers of the Class J's that are weathered like the 600 or the 603? And also will you be weathering the add on Coaches for the Powhatan Arrow? Thank you!
i think mth makes the best looking and sounding ho trains one great thing you got going for them is there smoke units i hate when you have a engine with a smoke unit and it has poor output like my one 2007 lionel #1225 berkshire engine since new it was a poor smoker but i fixed that today with a good qty aftermarket postwar type heating element now its smokes like it should the one lionel uses was too small and didnt get hot enough no point of a smoke unit if it dosent smoke right
When do you think you'll have these types of Locomotives available again for the general public to have. I do have a Norfolk and Western loco but i don't have the synconsied sound and puff of smoke in mine.
Are you going to release any new wheel arrangements soon? You have a lot of steamers with different road names but they're the same wheel arrangement.
This is false advertising!! I want the whistle exhibited in this video!! I bought your VERY EXPENSIVE Class J and the whistle that you released IS NOT this one, the correct one!! WHY DID YOU CHANGE IT TO THE CRAPPY ONE YOU USE ON THE CHALLENGER AND BIG BOY???!!! This is wrong!! I am so disgusted!! I bought the J based on this video!! You guys are crooks!! Such a beautiful running and looking model RUINED with such a shitty whistle sound!! I can't believe you!! DON'T TRUST MTH!!!!!!!
@brohoop It's whistle can be changed through commands, you know that, right? Even if it couldn't the sound can be changed... That's nary a reason to service the public by !!!TYPING LIKE THIS!!! <:-/
@callinstead09 you obviously do or you wouldn't have commented and criticized me, and then added your latest comment. I was "yelling" at MTH. You butted in. If you don't want any argument, mind your own business. I know your type though--you'll comment on this thus continuing the argument you "say" you don't want--you won't be able to control yourself, I guarantee it.
I love your trains but I can't afford any of yours because they are too pricey. Maybe I'll get one Mikado or J for Christmas from a friend, but these trains are just too over the top.
You guys at MTH should focus on making more wheel arrangements right now then more road names for existing ones. Where's an HO Y6B? where is an HO J1?
@Trainmaster189 Unfortunately, we are unable to answer your question; we try to keep our products in development a secret until they appear in a catalog. We have, however, kept a record of your request for our marketing and product development teams to evaluate when planning future product lines.
MTH may be nice, but it is overpriced, at these prices you can buy brass, the BLI one is better bang for the buck, also in this demo the MTH one has incorrect wheels on the lead truck, they are not supposed to be spoked, the real one has plain discs.
MTH, I don't care what they say. You all make the very best locomotives in HO. Oh, and please put smoke units into all of your steamers and diesels in HO too. Thank you.
@southern4501isawesom The MTH HO engines with ProtoSound 3.0 can be operated with MTHs DCS, standard DCC controllers or analog DC. DCS can be added to a layout through the use of the DCS Commander Unit or MTHs standard DCS Track Interface Unit and remote.
@southern4501isawesom The MTH DCS is an independent control system; no DCC controller or other device is needed to operate it. The DCS requires a compatible power source and track connections only.
I REALLY would like to know if the tender can be coupled closer to the cab!! I have emailed MTH TWICE about this, and got NO response. Can ANYBODY tell me?!
MTH uses various length draw bars on the HO engine; the draw bar for the J Class is 30mm and cannot be adjusted but other engines such as the USRA 2-8-2 have smaller ones (23.6mm) one may be able to install the draw bar from another MTH HO engine on the J. Changing the draw bar length will change the required turning radius. As with any custom installation that involves wiring there would be no warranty. Please contact MTH directly for more information.
@thedarkblaze09 Broadway Limited makes a Paragon version for $200...I think its the better deal. The only thing you dont get with BLI is the die-cast and the smoke. The plus side you get a closer rendition of the whistle. But its your money, and please make a video :D
There's an even bigger problem than smoke regarding MTH DCC operation: the locomotives cannot be programmed on a standard DCC programming track for variances in acceleration, sound, lighting, etc. A few of my friends have gone so far as to have the MTH electronics removed and replaced with a Tsunami sound system- a costly procedure that involves significant rewiring, but one I will no doubt have to do with my own 2 MTH engines.
Did your friends remove the DCS decoder and put in a DCC recorder?? Can this locomotive still keep it´s synchronised smoking whithout the DCS decoder and with a DCC decoder instead?
Why do we need smoke, all its good for is leaving residue on track, until. And i doubt it would have the right whistle and bell anyways (if it did it would be using those in the video). Plus who would buy a DCS system for HO anyways, its useless.
mattgin, you're absolutely right. Smoke is for the toy train crowd--not serious model railroaders.
Moreover- the idea that you need to purchase a DCS controller just to program a locomotive for DCC operation (which is the alternative to DCS for serious model railroaders, AND the standard of the industry) is absurd.
Indeed. I also do not like that MTH no longer offers their locos without sound, in all gauges. Sound is nice, but I don't want it enough to spend another $150 on a locomotive. Again this goes for all gauges, not just HO.
BenAliGtor, wouldnt smoke make the engine more prototypical? and dont give me the "residue" crap anyone. if there is residue on the tracks, theyve made an invention for that! its called a track cleaner!
If your layout contains only track, and is absent of scenery, structures, etc., then I suppose you're correct- track residue is no biggie. But I'd hate to spend hours building, painting and weathering a structure--and have it stained. Or to install a forest of several hundred trees and have this residue ruin them. It doesn't stain like coal soot.
And prototype smoke does not come forth in uniform chuffs of white, either.
