weird i have this anti virus system in case norton fails and now in the corner of my screen watching this video is a small smile face that has flashing edges as soon as i clicked it it said malware detected before norton did 5 mins later XD
@drum00 Testing AV programs inside a virtual machine almost always causes the detection rate to suffer. AMTSO recommends that third party AV testers perform product testing in a real world scenario rather than from within a VM.
@drum00 Agreed. More and more AV products vendors are incorporating cloud based detection capabilities. I watched Matt's recent Immunet video last night. Interestingly, both Immunet and Panda currently have cloud databases for roughly 13.7 million threats -- and their databases are exponentially growing. Back in June Panda was seeing roughly 50,000 new threats a day. Lately Panda is seeing roughly 70,000 new threats a day. Traditional AV signature based detection is all but dead.
@GoneToPlaid Yeah, makes people like me who is learning Programing. To make an Anti-virus need the signatures based on the G.U.I.D, Then connect to a server with all the info that the AV needs. Its crazy how it is now.
I always click the icons and stuff on your vid. on full screen. I feel stupid XD. Regardless I got infected by a fake youtube video and I had to manually remove all the viruses except the 3 tdss rootkits and rogues. Malware Bytes is amazing. I will try GMER to see if I have anything else. Keep up the good work sir!
PANDA sucks at detecting new malware. I have 8 antiviruses installed, and i am havving absolutely no problems. PANDA is a nice backup av... just backup..
@TheIvanguan Yes and yes, although MS Security Essentials is not a bad product. You can run PCAV alongside MSSE without conflicts. PCAV will catch whatever MSSE misses.
Here is a idea. My Dell starts up but..... I can get the CD/DVD to open. It appears that everything is there but it won't show anything. I have a DVD disk for drivers BUT my DVD/CD doesn't work However I THINK I downloaded it to a USB. BUT I can figure how to make it run and fix my Dell DVD (ATI). I was told it's a virus. I would like to reboot the computer But can't find anything that doesn't scare the hel;l out of me. Any suggestions?
I'm a new subscirber and I have to say I'm pretty addicted to your videos already. You've already helped me a bunch. Great work, keep up the awesome videos! :D
@1oxo1 That works good, but you have to be sure to configure ThreatFire for kernel compatibility mode, although this is called something else in ThreatFire compared to Spyware Doctor. The other thing is that several times I have watched Panda snatch and delete known malware from Spyware Doctor's temp directory before Spyware Doctor had a chance to complete quarantining the malware files. In other words, Panda's cloud analysis is both light and lightning fast compared to other security programs.
also I'm a tech and i find your conversation over the videos insightful i pick up a lot of things when you do the videos this way. And you are not boring (don't beat your self up) i laugh at least 2 to 3 times during your video especially when talking about some of your clients.
@mrizos, a computer of a friend of mine is probably infected for some trojan or malware. I want to help him and desinfect his computer, but I have a doubt, what's the best way of doing that? Using UBCD4WIN or scanning his computer with Malwarebytes and Hitman Pro? Thanks in advance.
Glad to see you back Matt! Great video! I hear Kaspersky's just released the final of KIS2011 but it's not as good as the last one? Keep up the excellent vids!
Good God man you read my Frickin mind, I'm in the same boat agree 350% with all you said free is nice but to darn heavy and then the pop ups are annoying.
@mrizos good idea. beta versions dont show everything it can do and it just wastes your time doing a beta review. Good up the good videos Matt. Subscribed ever since the beginning!

@hahaha10001 i have that same problem don't use NAT for your network connectivity either use bridged w a cable plugged in or get a second wifi card and install it to your vm
Yeah, watching an incredibly infected machine get cleaned is fun. You have a conflict and the resolution is in question. Not just that but paranoia adds flavor as the result of the cleaning either satisfies it or makes it scream. And since malware is a constant threat it's personal.
@70lordpatrick I'll tell you something, on my cousin's computer, Malwarebytes Anti-Malware detected 145 pieces of malware. Then Comodo Anti-Virus found another 7 pieces of malware. :P Pretty Epic
I normally just suggest a low level format for a crazy infected machine. I am just paranoid though lol. I would like to see what you were talking about how you go about it.
The only thing I'm worried about cloud technology is that it requires active internet connection. I'm afraid that certain kinds of malware might slip pass your cloud AV and disable the internet connection.
