SOOOO BAD bad bad quality don't buy

  • vertex 2???

  • Good boot time, but I'd you changed boot priority to raid controller you can shave off 2-3 seconds.

If you boot to CD/DVD alot you can use the

Boot manager, just press F8 or F11 during post.

    But good boot time.:D

  • not bad, i see 40 sec from the moment the mobo gets powered (screen isn't telling anymore there's no signal) you can check my vids i did a reboot of my rig. i'm looking for a pair or more of 120 gb agility 3 or m4 to go in raid 0 but i don't even know if i need something else other than my asrock p67 extreme4 and the ssd's. i think my boot takes 25sec, 22 from pc speaker "bip"

  • Dude, he's using old old Jmicron drives which you can't even buy any more. The new Sandforce drives are 10x better and quite a lot cheaper.

    Buy now!!!

  • Nice, 20 seconds :) Fuck I can't wait till these things are cheaper

  • @fortysixfish

My laptop from bto is booting in 12 sec With this crap but broke down after one hour , a few days later the same shit, now i have intel and it's way more stable

  • Nice, 20 seconds :)

  • beating a dead horse, raid 0 doesn't give faster boot and load times the improvement is negligible. plus increase seek times, higher cpu usage yada yada ain't worth it faster throughput is nice if you're copying large dvd's all the time that's about it but one crash and yer done, gave up raid 0 years ago. nice to play around with it sometimes though. who cares about boot times anyways leave the sucker on.

  • So what? There's no advantage in speed for SSD drives put in RAID. I have even better booting results with my Intel X25-M 80 Gb. My Win 7 Ultimate with installed drivers, programs and antivirus software boots up within 33 sec. since the beginning of POST until the hourglass stops winding in the loaded Windows. Conclusion is, get a proper SSD, cuz OCZ does not live too long and they're prone to decrease the speed within some time...

  • @Xpert30

People! These are two SSD's 1st Generation. 1. Without cache, and secondly with the JMicron controller was not exactly one of the best.

    So, first think then post.

  • @Xpert30 Whaaaaatttt? No performance boost by using ssd in RAID 0? Me thinks someone needs to read a little about RAID before posting.

  • also ik weiß ja net was da schnell sein soll.. die bottzeit habe ich auch mit 2 standart festplatten im raid

  • Ubuntu 10.10 and OCZ Vertex SSD - 10 seconds.

  • slowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww

  • Faster on normal boot, POST takes ages with raid.

  • yea ppl who see the post screen and go thats slow, and miss the fact it loads windows 7 in about 1sec are fuckin morons.

a post is gonna be slow as it has nothing to do with the operating system or a hard drive. ITS A POWER ON SELF TEST, and will vary depending on your board.

FUCKIN NOOBS. please stay out of IT now, enough dumb asses are flooding the job market as is.

  • Boot time starts the moment you see the windows logo appearing in windows 7, the bios messages do not count.

  • this is very slow...

  • @MouseDotHu

    yea ok wtf ever.

  • my 64gb kingston ssd on windows 7 64 bit boots just as fast...

  • i have a problem, i made a raid0 with 2x Ocz 60gb ssd, it run slow then 1 sdd,Wtf men, i think its the onborad raid?? let me know guyssssssss

  • i have a problem, i made a raid0 with 2x Ocz 60gb ssd, it run slow then 1 sdd,Wtf men, i think its the onborad raid?? let me me guyssssssss

  • Mein iMac ist ja noch mit einer 7200rpm schneller :)

Bootet in 30 Sekunden... Aber ist halt Vista ;-)

  • i hate the comments saying "mine boots faster"

    its vista goddamnit

    vista fucking sucks

  • Try 7

  • who gives a fuuuuck!

  • my normal raid0 7200 rpm starts faster under 1 min

  • Boot time on a PC Starts from where the hardware check hands over to the system. where you see the windows start to load.

  • Das langsamste beim Booten ist bei dir also das BIOS...^^

  • striped is raid 0

    mirrored is raid 1

    Striped for 2x performance

    Mirrored for Safety

  • @Zanarus2242 Yeah dude, it is NOT 2x performance, in theory it would be, but in reality it is only like 15-30%

Same thing with people who do SLI or crossfire, you dont get 2x gaming power or 2x speed. It is much MUCH lower than you think.

But raid 0 DOES speed up performance for sure :) just not 100%

  • This is RAID 0, it means 2 times faster

  • anybody know the diferences between SSD drives and external 2.5" drives ?? Except for the sata and usb connections.... Are the external 2.5" hard drives locked somehow to a maximum speed because of the usb ???

  • 2.5" external hdds are most likely just an ordinary hrd drive an not a SSD. as far as the interface, a usb drive will be limited by the usb connection only. so if you were to put it in a laptop it should run just as fast as any other.

  • dauert ganz schon lang beim runterfahren! Da bin ich mit 2 x velociraptor schneller dran!

  • People stop winging about

'my boot time is faster than your boot time'

    Who cares.

SSD's are the future of hard drives, no doubt.

There expensive and low capacity at the moment, but they are well worth it.

It most high end gaming systems the most common bottleneck the the harddrive.

Though hard drive doesn't influence direct gameplay its awesome to have a SSD when navigating through windows Etc.

  • on os 7 the boot is done in 5 sec with a normal hdd and a medium sistem

  • troll comment no normal hdd exist that boots windows 7 in 5 sec...

  • i have w7 on an samsung spinpoint f3 and it boots under 5 secs with an c2d e6750 @3.2 ghz and 2 gb ram @ 1066 so it exists... do'n talk if u didn't tried 7 ...

  • then please tell me how you can boot in 5 secs.. and what 5 seconds u mean (maybe the ones after the logo appers? ^^)

cause the computer i worked with yesterday

    (i7 920, 12gb ram, velociraptor @ raid0) didnt boot in 5 sec to win7

but maybe you dont really boot... maybe you just go to hibernate mode?

  • i measured the time after the post was done ( after the beeep) .

  • oh.. ok.. i measured the time after i pressed the power button ;) so i ment the whole bootup ;)

  • 9 second great

  • thats slower boot then my windows xp boot on a normal HDD lol.

  • XP =! Vista

  • mhhh its not that fast, mine is actually faster and i dont have raid configs now, and the system isnt newer than yours

  • alot of that boot time was cause of the mobo doing stupid checks cause it is really fast only one and a half times did the loading bar go by

  • well its quite obvious that i consider the startup without POST as boot up sequenze...

  • well its quite obvious your a retard pur1ty

  • its quite obvious u just won the award for total nerdness. enjoy yourself not having a clue

  • your just a noob pur1ty.

  • omg how embarrasing are u guys? i have 8 gb ram, q9550 and a seagate barracuda es2. the loading bar goes by almost 2 times (which actually doesnt say anything about ur computers performance) did u notice how long he has a black screen after that? i dont have that, so its faster. please dont embarass yourselves if u dont have any idea. this video is just not a good example for "high-speed" boot-up.

  • Nothing increases boot up time but an SSD after those specc's..

  • I would have thought that people would measure from when the computer actually turns on (after the POST sequence) to the moment when the operating system actually starts. It seems that I gave most people too much credit.

Although even then, boot times will vary somewhat anyway, especially if it's not a clean installation.

  • btw bootup sequence doesnt stop when the loading bar dissapears... when all apps where loaded and win is completely booted...

his system takes ca 21 secs to completely load vista after POST dissappears. mine took 18 secs, and this without raid configs...i had raid0 before but with all that defragmentation u wont get much out of it...

  • then why you got to call this man a nerd because he got better parts than you?

  • i didnt call the guy who uploaded this video a nerd, it was another guy who posted earlier ;)

  • That's pretty fast. It's a shame the BIOS POST sequence takes so long and looks so ugly, mac folks get nice pretty startup screens and boot instantly :(

  • Yeah, I would totally pay $500 more for a sexy Mac start up, that runs a lot less aps than windows. Wait... NOT!

  • LG 30" w3000h here and give it 10min and you will not change it for anything in its price range.

  • True.

    Samsung SyncMaster 2493HM here ;)

    24'', 1920x1200 :P

  • that was wayyyy slow, my raptor raid 10 array (8 drives!!) starts wayyy quicker that that

  • OCZ SSDs are slow...try Intel X25 SLC...i have 2 in Raid 0...it is amazing :D

  • i just use hybrid sleep....takes like 2 secs to come on..

  • So much money to turn on their computer faster... AWESOME

  • lol...

bot if you use your pc for data heavy stuff (like rendering and video editing) SSD is AWESOME!

  • Well..

    All programs/games/music/pictures loads faster

the hdd is the biggest bottle neck in todays computers..

  • @TheDarre I remember back in the day there was an older type of IDE cable that people kept using which slowed down newer HDDs :)

  • why are people so in love with operating systems?

  • im not ftw =D vista screwed up my pc

  • Cool story, ljscott1990. If Linux wasn't as big of a threat, why does Microsoft spend immense amounts of money trying to bury it? :) You're right, people will continue to use what is supported, but the common user is not going to be able to distinguish MS from a *nix UI if their office products and firefox / chrome browsers still run.

  • wow it shuts down and starts up faster then mine opens the internet :(

  • Booting starts at 0:44

  • SSD Raid is Coool~!

  • his post screen is slowed down because of the raid controller. Nice job btw.

  • O.M.G., bios takes ages and vista sucks at boot,

try to update the bios or get a new motherboard and install Ubuntu 9.04 ext 4, ill bet it'll start up in 8 secs altogether...

  • he is set to display the full screen logo and do a POST check. This is incase he wants to enter the BIOS on boot..... it has nothing to do with updates or anything

  • Ubuntu sucks, you can't even play games on it.

  • U know why you can't play games on Linux? Bcuz game developers are forced to write their games in directX bcuz almost everyone uses Windows. The Khronos Group (Almost all game companies together) have agreed that all games will be written in OpenGL in the future (Bcuz OpenGL is 30% more efficient and its a serious code (C). No, Ubuntu dont sucks just bcuz it "can't" play directX games, eventhought you always have WINE.....

  • Yeah but linux doesn't have market share and never will. Therefore don't expect to see good games on it. As for WINE you can't play alot of games in it because of DRM. Just about anything that uses SecuROM will not work in WINE.

  • Plz explain your statements... WHY will Linux never have a big market share? And if pppl want to game you can use consoles... Ill never believe that 87% of the computer users are hardcore gamers...

  • I'll explain this as simply as I can. 95% of people don't know shit about computers and don't care. They will use whatever is pre-installed on their computer. MS and Apple have dominated the PC market for years and people will continue to support existing programs. People aren't going to go and download and install linux regardless if it's better or not. If you honestly believe linux will have a large marketshare anytime in the near future you are nothing short of delusional.

  • I agree with you that Linux wont be big in about 10 years, but, 1; Linux is getting bigger and bigger, better and better and easier and easier in a faster and faster rate. 2 Windows is going to be bankrupt. There 9 matters from the EU against Microsoft. Xbox and Vista have taken a lot money from MS and of trust of the endusers. 30.000 MS ppl were fired this month and their stocks lowered 19$ in 1 single month. If they dont rock witch windows 7 there fucked...

  • Linux is getting more used, with some netbook manufactures putting it as the default OS. I dont believe it will ever equal non-open source OSes like Mac OS or Windows, but it will be big nevertheless. The question is: when?

  • I can count one one hand the games I enjoy that I cannot play on *nix. Not the games that I can only play on *nix.

  • lol, linux nerds are funny

  • Get out.

  • This video should be renamed to "Vista REBOOT". You could edit out the first 30-ish seconds and it would have been more impressive.

Or just film yourself pushing the Power On button and let it boot.

  • u should disable cd as first boot and it may load faster lol

  • Dit you reinstall vista on the ssd ?

  • in boot screen is 2,66GHZ^^ rofl

  • It says the cpu is a E8200 @ 2.66Ghz.

The line under says the clock speed is 3.21Ghz

  • Yes tht is the standard clock speed, if u looked under it you would find it said Speed: 3.21GHz

  • HEY nice very fast

im tryign to do the same on my system and am running into a slew of problems !!! please help !

  • get the new firmware if u have the vertex ssd

  • WOW that's fast, i just installed raid 0 on two 1TB drives and it's not nearly as fast as that. It takes the same amount of time to load before i installed raid. what could i have done wrong?

  • Maybe the Raid-controller of your mainboard is the problem. New drivers could help, or just buy a suitable controller-card.

Maybe RAID0 does not work? Disconnect one Drive and try to boot- if it works, there is no raid0.

Just my ideas to your problem.

But most probably it is the controller.

  • From my understanding 1TB SSD drives do not come out until third quarter. Might you be talking about Mech. Drives?

  • Think he meant regular 1tb drives. But i think the new pci ssd's should have some kind of sli bridge lol for raid. now that would be funny.

  • Windows 7 beta ftw. No garbage in it but what you need. Security is "bad" they say cause it's a beta but, if you're smart you can get around that problem.

Router + some software + some vulnerability testing = good.

Nice system though I can't wait to get my hands on a few of those and an i7 ...

  • the point is, vulnerable software interacting on the WAN, that is what makes it exploitable. firewall or not.

  • ghettos mobo and bios, and wtf is up with booting from cd rom? are you trying to to slow yourself down?

  • PML... got to agree with you there :)

    SPOON

  • omg awesome still to expensive for me :/ I have two 750GB 7200RPS drives...im right now running the system on one disk and keeping the other one as a storage disk...should i but them i RAID 0? WIll there be alot of speed differanse?

  • yes it will be,

i could advise you to, buy another drive 750GB and put them in RAID5, it is speed and safety.

but raid0 will still be a lot of speed difference.

  • It's fast, but TBH, vista is the main problem, as usuall.

Etenral congratz to Microsoft, so many years with XP to prepare the next generation OS and an as much shitty result. GG

  • recht flott...aber mein Raid0 hängt da nicht wirklich hinterher...und das zu einem Bruchteil des Preises der SSD.

  • wow that loaded slower then my 10k Raptor drives in RAID 0.

I gotta say I am not impressed with SSD yet. To many things bottleneck its performance.

  • so? to bring forward proof man ;-)

  • The advantage of the SSD drives isn't so much the read and write speeds. I'll be honest, the write speeds leave a bit to be desired.

Its the access time that has an impact. Sure enough, 10krpm drives in a RAID0 will be pretty quick, but as time goes on and data gets shifted around drives, it won't be able to match SSD's, which will make them 'aparently' faster.

  • how many raptor drives?

  • none...

  • nice

  • Muy excellente!

  • Wenn man bedenkt das es nicht die schnellste der SSD´s ist muss man sagen das es doch verdammt flott zugeht ;)

Ich bin auf die ersten Boots der PCIe FlashDrives gespant :D

  • That's friggin' fast! Holy crap!

  • bitte mehr
