You amuse, @getula4003. All of this is oh-so important to you. Nothing I've posted here is misleading. '67 is mid-60s in my book, maybe not yours, but who gives a fuck about yours?
I'm in superior position to you in every way. Deal with it.
@TruthAxe If you're going to promote your over-inflated opinion as fact, in future do your research BEFORE you get into a debate with someone. You're skipping backwards and forwards and all over the place and scurrying off to Wikipedia for ammunition.
Genesis were better musicians than Pink Floyd. You may prefer Floyd's music but Genesis were technically superior musicians.
Now scurry back off to Wikipedia to see if you can find out why.
You amuse @LisaJJMerry. Mere words sent you into hallucination and rage. Look at you go! That you conjure up visions of scurrying to Wikipedia amuses. Your habit of doing so makes you incorporate such in your hallucination.
@getula4003 Well I don't know about that, but it is clear through photo proof, that he was by 1970. Mid-60s might have been a stretch but the band with Gabriel were in swing by the mid-1960s. If you consider full-face make-up as a mask as I do, then hardly is it a stretch, but whatever.
@RonyBonyman Not really supposed to, but the first one makes the opening, and the other makes the ending of the album. But in live there's a medley of both songs
Why all the petty arguments over what's what??? People are free to choose and speak their minds,,,,,,,,,, well here in U.S.A anyways!!!!!!! Oh yeah Fuck the Al Qeuda or however you spell it,,,,,,,!!!!!! Took 9+ years but we got your smelly ass Bin Laden, send me a postcard from Hell & let me know how you like the accomadations!!;)
Yes, Genesis and Floyd are all different bands... it is fucking moot to compare them. I caught the original Wall concert and was very impressed.
I saw Genesis on the Abacab and Mama tours and thought they were great.
I followed Yes from Drama on through the Rabin years and beyond... it is silly to compare Tales from Topographic Oceans to Big Generator... one is a controversial masterpiece and the other is a band rocking out and exploring new ground with a new guitarist. Enjoy!
@TruthAxe yes and pink floyd eventually went down hill too. You could argue that those two bands didn't completely ditch their roots like Genesis admittedly did. But by the 80's all three of these bands were well past their prime.
But the classic lineup of Genesis were not in any way second rate compared to the Floyd and Yes. Suppers Ready is just as good if not better than anything Yes did
@TruthAxe You cant compare Genesis to Yes, they were very very different outfits musically. They were both excellent bands in their own right, and you tend to find that you love one or the other, as both are an acquired taste.
We hope each band of musicians who comes together delivers their own sounds and stories. Phil Collins strikes me as a far better drummer than he is a singer and a far better musician than any other member of Genesis.

Time signature isn't what makes music interesting.

The ever amusing @getula4003. Genesis, the factory man's Pink Floyd; the street sweeper's Yes. HA HA HA

@getula4003 HA HA HA. Where are you getting your false beliefs?
Genesis formed in 1967 and were discovered by Jonathan King who produced their first recording t wo years later titled From Genesis to Revelation.
Yet, why bring forth all this irrelevancy? As a band Genesis were no Pink Floyd or Yes.
TruthAxe 5 months ago
@TruthAxe Technically, they released a single in February 1968 on Decca Records. Their first full length recording was released in 1969.

@TruthAxe This is a guess but did the Genesis tour bus once run over your head and cause irreversible damage to your penis?

This is when they went pop. What a teeny bopper recording. Many like it though.
More than any other, this recording shows how second rate Genesis were to Yes or Pink Floyd.

But you're right. During the Peter Gabriel days, Genesis were pretentious art-rock. Gabriel would don masks during songs, during the mid-60s!
