@ih8makinusernames Yeah man, this is black metal, but the other version is much blacker, I suggest you check that out, look for the intro called The Rebirth, and the rest will follow. This version here is the first recording. They rerecorded it, much better, and that was the first pressing. But somehow, by mistake, the first recording ended up on the US pressing, and since then it has, by further mistakes, been the most available. Second pressing aka first release, much better (and blacker).

There are two versions of this LP, two different recordings actually. This is not the best one. You have to get the original Steamhammer release (not the Steamhammer-released CD In The Sign Of Evil/Obsessed By Cruelty, but the original vinyl), that sounds ten times more evil, and better! Easy way to check: If the intro/first track starts with drums and guitar you have the right version, if it starts with organ you have the "wrong" version.

Euronymous was a madman. If you read the things he said about the Stalinist dictatorship and the Berlin wall, you can tell. Even Wagner Lamounier from Sarcofago, who for some time was corresponding with him, said that he was a nutcase.

Then he and Mayhem recorded their first studio album De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas sometime in the early 90s before that nazi-pagan Varg Vikernes killed him. One said the album suffers from an "overabundance of repetition that leaves a feeling of incompleteness to these songs". I Dissagree with what most think, and I think it isnt as bad as many claim. Although I think they got much better later on, obsessed by cruelty isnt bad.

I disagree too, the criticers don't like these very easy riffs, they don't like the disorder that I like the most of this record.But imo this album has the most charme of all sodom records and it's still a great thrash album, but not as good as persectution mania :D
