yes i know about bush losing the popular vote in 2000. since then everyone in holland at least know how the popular vote works in america, but everyone who is educated a bit over here knew that already. why are there no politicians pointing out really clear what you are telling here? does none of them want to improve the democratic system?
Right now, we are a fairly evenly divided country. So it is hard to get anything done. Only half of the US is as bad as the rest of the world thinks we are. Unfortunately, they had full control under W. for 6 years and we know what happened than. Sadly, some people just never learn and here we are again in another close race. If McCain wins this election it will be an embarrassment to the educated here. If Obama wins, hopefully we can start making some progress.
A lot of Americans don't have a clue as to how the system works. If they did, W. would have lost in 2004. He actual DID lose the popular vote in 2000. Frustrating.
@angrypoliticalnerd its pretty common knowledge Gore won the popular vote. The fact that Bush won in 2004 and lost the popular vote in 2000 doesnt mean people dont know. It means they dont care.
Sadly enough, yes. Many people don't understand anything that goes on in their own country. Why? Because we're stupid little lambs that don't know how to think for themselves and find out what's going on around them if someone tells them how something is- we'll pretty much buy into anything we've been told. And people really don't care until they have to deal with the problem; United States citizens don't like to think "down the road."
You forgot to mentioned that the electoral vote did NOT represent the 20 % of americans that voted for Ross PErot. He received no electoral vote , when given the proportion of americans that voted for Ross Perot, he should have received like around 107 electoral votes.
this is the worst acting that I have ever seen!
