How we can save what the Goddess gave us everyday, is lost on most people. Humans kill off so many species everyday, that don't have a voice. Hopefully humans figure it out before she tires of us. Just a little love & fantasy could help the world.
I remember watching this movie so so many times, years ago...
While i can not remember every single detail of it, one thing that really got me every single time was the fact that Amalthea (unicorn) was so painfully beautiful after becoming a human, & yet she was so sad all of the time...
Schmendrick loved her so much, but she just somehow couldn't understand any of his feelings; not until the end..
And so i kept thinking to myself: How can anyone this beautiful even feel sad and lonely..?
yeah me and my dad watched this lol when he first told me about i though he was kidding then we saw it and it was kinda epic.....though i was nine soooooo
I love this movie so much! And, what an amazing band!!! I also cry ever time I watch this movie. I wish that our world was innocent enough to belief in wonders like this.
It's really cool watching this video and seeing the Hunt Of The Unicorn tapestries, especially after just reading a book on unicorns that told all about them
I watched this movie a long ass time ago. It was an awesome cartoon. I also remember the old Lord of the ring cartoons too! It's a shame there wont be any cartoons made in this style ever again.
The last Unicorn is beautiful work of art and the music is breathtakingly haunting...haunting in way that soothes your soul...beautiful for grandness of nature and serene for peace it inspires as you listen and remember the meaning of dreaming when you are a child..The last Unicorn a classic film with a touching soundtrack to our lives
The Last Unicorn was the best thing ever when I was a kid...sixteen years later, I'm inexplicably addicted to My Little Pony. Suddenly it all makes sense.
When the last moon is cast over the last star of morning... and the feature has passed without even a last desperate warning, then look in the sky where through the clouds a path is torn... Look and see her how she sparkles, SHE'S the Last unicorn... ♥
This song always gets me. The Last Unicorn was a beatiful animated movie, and me liking equines (besides wolves), was one of the best films I ever watched as a kid. The other being the animated version of Black Beauty.
@JVcrow44 don't let anybody tell you crying isn't manly. Crying because you can't go see a movie is unmanly, but crying because of a sad song or event is manly (or just human in general)
@JVcrow44 Maybe because you, as America the band, can understand the message behind this song. The world is slowly dying, every day we have the chance to save it, but we never do. It's the sad, true story of our doing.
@ZataMachi The third law of thermodynamics. Increasing entropy. The Universe is doomed to increasing entropy. All things are thus, nothing anyone could ever do about that.
what an amazing movie, the songs and music are excellent, the cast is amazing Alan Arkin, Jeff Bridges, Mia Farrow, Angela Lansbury, Christopher Lee...also i think it is awesome that it is Rankin Bass who produced it, the hobbit, return of the king, flight of dragons, Thunder cats. One of the best fairy tale animation production companies. this movie always makes me feel good, watching it right before i go to sleep makes me feel good, nostalgic, it's a really enchanting story.
I cannot fathom that one of my favorite movies of all time has the music and lyrics of "The Last Unicorn" by a band I grew up with America... can you say blonde moment? Gosh I feel so (______) go ahead, fill in the blank.
I remembered seeing this when I was 5 years old. I was always scared of the Red Bull, and I was always amazed when Amalthea turned into a woman then back into a unicorn. years passed and I hadn't seen the movie, so I forgot most of the details, but I never forgot the unicorn who became a woman. Then after over 13 years, saw a movie on TV called "The Last Unicorn". It seemed familiar so I watched it. That's when it all came rushing back to me!! I loved this movie as a child and I still do!!
What I hated the most about this movie was how she turned into a human. Unfortunately, that kind of ruined it for me, but it's a great movie to others. Beautiful art, beautiful music and one pretty unicorn.
You know what...The last time i saw this i was probably like 5 or 6 i cried my eyes out.. and the strange thing is...i still do.. maybe it has to be emotions i felt when i was a kid.. you know when you think back at the good and best time you had when you saw this.. then when i saw this for like 15min ago all of it came back like a HD quality film then my heart opend i smiled and cried... fantastic...and i cried of joy =´)
for the longest time i forgot about this movie till i saw a music video i wus like i think i remember this and had to look it up now i own it again ^_^
I remember still the heart-wrenching pain this film caused me when I was a kid... It was awfully melancholy for a children's film, but beautiful at the same time. <3 You know it's a great story when you remember the feelings it inspired in you so many years after you last watched it.
Oh...I remember my dad taping this on vhs for me to watch when I was little because I loved it so much. I have it on dvd now, and I saw the book in the teen section of Barnes & Nobles and was going to get it, but I didn't have any money and now it's gone.
In fact it may have been the first fantasy film I ever saw.
More people need to see this, it's just as good now as when I first remember it.
That ending gets me every time.
People always seem to say that Rankin Bass animations are pretty low quality when it comes to their hand-drawn stuff but frankly I've always liked that aesthetic of theirs. Those same people always said their movies were no good, they just need to watch this to be corrected.
When I was a little kid, I got the chicken pox and the only thing that got me and my parents through the night was this movie. I would sit on the couch watching it and as soon as it was over start crying and screeching about being itchy until my dad rewound it and played it again. I loved this movie as a child, and I love it as an adult. Listening to this song always gives me shivers. It's a powerful song, and sung with a lot of passion.
Unicorns, such amazing creatures. I love this movie and the soundtrack. I also love the animation, it's so unique and well made. Don't get much of that anymore ='(
This movie is beautiful. I remember watching this when I was 4, and remember the emotions it brought inside of me.I remember the REAL story of the Little Mermaid, the tragic one (not the bratty sugar coated disney version), the Secret of Nimh, The Dark Crystal etc. Movies like these treated children with intelligence; as individuals capable of understanding much more than we give them credit for.I have children of my own now, and can't help but notice how 'dumbed down' kids movies are now.
This brings back so many memories. i use to like unicorns before i did a speech on them and all unicorns are is killer's. but i still like them and still believe in em.
when i first watched way back when, i wasn't too thrilled but now its one of my favorites. i love everything about the movie--the music, the story EVERYTHING!!!!
21 years old and I still love this movie and this song. It's one of the few 'old' movies where the animation doesn't make me want to claw my eyes out. I still cry hearing this song, and have the worst urge to go did the VHS I bought from our closing Blockbusters out of the basement and watch this movie again :')
Esta pelicula es hermosisima y su cancion es preciosa aunque me entristece el corazon.... La recomiendo para quienes tengan niños es hermosisimo mensaje

I was always so afraid as a 7 year old that the red bull would come and take me and my friends and force us into the seaside... Obviously I thought I was a unicorn :/ I love this film :)
I used to watch this movie with my grandmother before she died, she loved unicorns
I have both versions, the redone and the original. I feel the original is best, the redone is weird for me, the voices are high pitched and sound like kids and the film moves too fast, The original everything moved slow and the voices sounded like they should. This was one movie they should have alone, my bro's kids love the redone version, that's why got it, no one but me and the kids can tell the difference
@demonofrazgriz333 Hahahahahahahahahaaha!!!!!!!! pretty good!! I find no offense on your behalf!! & I love "The Last Unicorn"....but thats pretty random & funny!

Let the tears currently rolling silently down my face speak for now. This song and movie is honestly too beautiful for words.

21 years old and I still love this movie and this song. It's one of the few 'old' movies where the animation doesn't make me want to claw my eyes out. I still cry hearing this song, and have the worst urge to go did the VHS I bought from our closing Blockbusters out of the basement and watch this movie again :')

By far, this is best version of this song. The others just don't have the same soul. Course that could just be my childhood talking.
