Imagine if there was a 2D sonic game where you could summon different partners to help in the middle of the game? For example, if you're swarmed by enemies, summon Shadow and have him freeze the screen the defeat all enemies for you, then leave.

Tails could let you fly up somewhere.

Knuckles could help you find hidden Chaos Emeralds.

Amy could travel with you and hit any enemies she finds with her hammer.

and so on. Proving that sidekicks don't make the game suck.
