  • ill give u a tip the tip of my cock

  • Slackware, Redhat or Debian. The 3 that I know of will make you learn Linux or you can just read the Kernel code and hack your own distribution. Google is your friend.

Yes, I expect negative comments to this post because on You Tube no matter how positive or agreeable you are you still get that one fucking asshole who has to ruin it for you. Just sayin'. Cheers!!!!!!!

  • dontcha hate it when you poop in the toilet and water splashes up your ass?

  • he must of been at nerdy gra lol

  • I got all kinds of linux distros set up as guest OSs using parallels desktop... I just boot them up for fun whenever I want to without switching computers or rebooting. Definitely the way to go as far as experimenting with different distros.

Parallels Desktop (or vmware fusion) is great on the mac - on the PC try Virtual PC (which is actually free..)

My favorite by far is Ubunto, I think it's the best overall desktop experience from the linux distro.

  • "you get to learn how to.... Learn!" lol

  • The only way I'd get Linux is if I had installed on a second pc..

  • Partiers- Show us your Tips!

    Chris- CTRL+C copies.

    HAHA

  • i'm selling copy's of linux in mexico.. XD

  • @Treazurer lol how much

  • @avptv 1 million pesos= 20 dollars usd HA

  • Arh, Vista is not more user friendly than Linux. It is too bloated, too slow, everything's thrown at random. Going from XP til Vista, it might be better to consider

    XP -> Linux instead

since both vista and linux can be taken for whole new OSes. Linux Mint is quite logical in its setup. It is NOT windows, but it is more logical than Vista.

  • Show us your tips. Thank you for pronouncing New Orleans correctly.

  • Control C copies is a tip? *groan*

  • I noticed someone mentioned Sabayon in the chat. I've never used Sabayon but I like saying it... Sabayon... it feels almost kind of Ninja... *swish swish* SABAYON! *does nunchuck tricks* harrrr, Sabayooonnnn!

  • how you have 2.000 videos ?/

  • It's funny, he says there are many Linux distros, but every example he states, includes some Ubuntu version.

  • I remember how happy I was when I was able to get Mandrake to dial on demand when I connected to the internet. Up until then I had to connect manually.

Of course, I have cable now, so that's no longer an issue. Come to think of it, I had cable then too, but didn't have a router, and I still had dial-up, so that's what I used on my #2 machine.

  • shitty camera im LAGGING D:

  • who says vista is easier than linux??

  • Windoze lusers.

  • Is Linux free?

  • @pikefan23 is Free as Freedom ( that's the slogan of everythin that is GNU like Linux ) so get the idea

  • @SYCKODELICUS

But sometimes freedom isnt free. You live in america right? =\

  • LM*O!!!!!

  • SHOWS MORE TIPS ! xD

  • lolz

  • Use Linux Mint. It has lots of media codecs pre-installed and it looks quite a bit like Windows. Run a dual boot; I use Windows only for for Window-only tasks. Almost every other task I can do twice as fast in Mint for free. Upgrades are a doddle. And the community is one of the friendliest I have seen. It is based on Ubuntu, so many fixes for Ubuntu will work on Mint. Try it.

  • I started to use Linux two years ago after 15 years of only Windows. Later i've wondered why it took so long time to move to Linux. That's why understand how effective this Microsoft FUD (Fear, Uncertainty, Doubt) -tactic is.

Microsoft understand what kinda fools we basically are. We believe in "Wov's" and hype and all this bullshit IT-media and so called experts are declaring. And actually it's you and me who have to make the move - or stay in course -and suffer.

  • appearently most of the guys commented there have less exposure to liunx. For example me im a windows user for 13 years. But i started using linux this year and im loving it. It is true it basically for experienced users but if u spend some time with it you will love it..

  • I've asked this question hell, even googled it and I didn't get a "dumbed down" answer to it. The question is: What is a Linux Distro?

  • hey i have a question...

ive been trying to find where i can get linux like LINUX LINUX not the ones that are like redhat linux or ubuntu linux i want to know where i can get linux. does anyone know where?

  • linux is a general term ubuntu is the official version their is no just linux

  • Ubuntu is linux.. redhat is linux... gentoo is linux... suse is linux... mandriva is linux.. and so on they are all based on linux. WTF do you want? The most older ones? If so then debian is one of them...

  • I think he wants UNIX.

  • LOL!!!!!!!!!!!! AT THE BEGGINING

  • Just wandering... i dont know much at all about linux so please dont make me feel stupid for asking this but how safe is linux? i mean i realize that it being built by the community provides a lot of great qualities for the software but wouldnt it be just as easy for someone to throw a virus in the mix as well???

  • I fix a lot of stuff in vista and now I know more about the OS it has ran smooth for the last... 3 years I think, has it really been long wow.

  • i love ubuntu, thats what im on right now, i've used windows for years and i find linux sooo much easier to use, but i havent used a mac yet and i dont plan to lol

  • i dont knw why i like linux but it is complex i think it is nerds windows

  • What is really a problem is how to get the information to solve a problem. I usually search in Forum entrys which are sometimes outdated or wrong. Sometimes it can take hours even if the solution is just a mouse click away.

  • I just tried Ubuntu, and I must admit, it's not bad. I still don't use it much, but it ran better than Vista.

  • And you use what?Windows?

  • why?

  • lol You obviously cannot use it properly.

  • CRUNCHBANG Linux FTW!

  • I am posting this comment on Vanilla install of Windows XP running in Virtual Box on Linux Mint. I prefer it.

Fedora Linux is sh^&t. The Xvid codecs are impossible to install. I prefer Ubuntu styled distros.

  • Ahah but he's using a Mac!

  • Linux runs on macs too =P

  • How do i update my ubuntu drivers

  • software update in the menu

  • IM kinda scared to switch because im afraid either my programs will stop working or ill lose my files that i have saved on the transfer over to Linux

  • GO WINDOWS OSX AND UBUNTU SUCK

  • Wrong go linux, windows sux and os x i find quite confusing to use

  • I've been using linux for a while, and still use Windows, but Ubuntu is my favorite OS.

  • I prefer Linux Mint =)

  • Felicia (Mint 6) is the love of my life. I distro-hopped thru at least 15 different ones and then came Mint...it was love at first sight! darksyde

  • Ubuntu has a lot of distros

  • Ubuntu has a lot of derivatives.

  • @DarkRubySage Ubuntu IS a derivative (of Debian). SO THAR! ;)

  • @Keruaran, I know that! I AM TEH ULTIMATE MASTA!

  • i have decided as a geek that i am not complete without a Linux. Im now downloading ubuntu and im going to triple boot it on my 1tb hard drive alongside mw Vista and w7.

  • Lol, as a geek you can make a LOT of partitions, there are hundreds of different linux distros ;)

  • yea i know my top 2 are ubuntu and Debian

  • fedora is the best distro hands down. i would never use anything else

  • idiot¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡

  • could anyone tell me the adress of the echo link's blog ?

    can't understand what he said

  • Can I install ubuntu to a portable hard drive. I don't want to use it on multiple comps or anything just my test pc's hard drive is full and it would be faster than running it from CD.

  • Probably. Just Google it. It's bound to be there. I'm sure I've come across it before.

  • Comment removed

  • Thanks

I'll Ask Jeves it as I dont like google

  • You can install Ubuntu to a pendrive, and start from it, provided that your computer allows boot from a usb device.

  • Google pendrivelinux.

  • tips...yea not funny.

  • u fuck up just killin other's time u beach

  • why can't 1 linux distro be created that does it all, and be user friendly?

  • because different distros are used for different things.

and people like to actually compile there own stuff and learn along the way.

  • it depends what u need

Ubuntu or even Redhat is best for User friendly

    Backtrack is better for programming

  • If you can't figure out how to use Ubuntu you're not smart enough to use any computer.

  • i may not be familiar with ubuntu, but i can sure ride your mother's ass with the best of them!

    she loves it!

  • i ride his mothers ass too!!!

    but thats my bitch homie

  • I love tits too :D

  • I think that they meant "tits"

I live in New Orleans =]

  • I guess this is a stuped question but if i get linux im guessing i cant use windows live messenger :(

  • Nope but you can use pidgin or kopete which can handle the msn protocol just fine! So yes, you can stil chat with folks on live messenger

  • wow thanks :) that will come in handy, im getting ubuntu once somebody makes me a live CD, (my cd-r dosent work)

  • go to the ubuntu website and request a free live cd! you can get the distro for free in just a few weeks and it's really pretty hassle free

  • thanks :) but i got linux already installed by using demon tools to install it.

  • Well, you can run almost any windows program with Wine, so probabley.

  • sure you can! all you have to do is download wine first

  • ive been using windows since 95. i have only been using linux for about 4 days and i find ubuntu way easier than windows. my only problem is it wont register my wireless card. i guess its to be expected since i have only been using it for 4 days. ill figure it out

  • if you have any more problems with that wireless card, let me know. im sure i can figure it out for ya :)

  • Please help me install software programs on my ASUS Eeepc linux operating system.

  • go to Add/Remove Programs or Synaptics Package manager or just download the application file if your using Ubuntu or any debian based distro if ends in a .deb file then just click on it and it installs usually installing apps on Debian Based Linux distros is easy

  • stupid teacher

  • Li dont know what is inux some one tell me

  • linux is open source operating system like windows & mac it is closer to mac. mac's operating system is Unix which is part of the linux family tree of linux distribution all linux distributions are different from each other. but as I used some of the linux I prefer unix though its not free unix as I told u is a mac.

  • lmao tips

  • lmao

  • I haven't had any problems since switching to Ubuntu Linux. I had no problems with Vista, personally, but I was tired of Windows.

  • no linux is 4 smart people so not you.

and im a poor student who loves hes copy of linux

my new notebook had a copy of Vista on it 4 1 week and it fucked up so its running a copy of Ubuntu Linux and windows XP and im happy

  • wait how do u switch from windows xp and linux?

  • no you still need to buy a computer to put it on

  • I was born and raised in New Orleans. Here's some stuff for you.

    1. Beads are awesome. Be grateful for your beads. Some people like ME work hard to get our beads on Mardi Gras. When I'm finished, I can barely keep my neck up because it's weighted down with beads!

    2. Yes, tips are awesome.

    3. Have you tried the Gumbo or Crawfish? They're DELICIOUS! I haven't had any in ages since I moved to Georgia.

    4. My thoughts on Katrina? No comment...

  • What? That's two of the easiest things to do?

  • For you maybe, I follow the instructions exactly but something always seems to go wrong.

In the case of Ubuntu it is Grub error 17.

  • reinstall dude

i got that error once but i know i was messing up and trying a bunch of configurations out and messing with files, reinstalled and everything smooth now

  • I did, several times...

Grub only seems to pop up every blue moon now and when it does it fails to load.

  • I am installing Ubuntu on a second machine as I type this and I'm getting I/O errors when the CD is load but I will persevere because once you get it going; issues such as viruses spyware and stability is almost irrelevant.

I am in no way an expert but if I spend another months or so using Linux; I doubt I will use any Microsoft OS for anything other than gaming.

I am sticking with Ubuntu mainly because of the support I can rely on.

  • Consider trying a different version.

I first tried Linux about 5 years ago, I tried Red Hat and it took me four to install and that's with the aid of a second pc that had internet access to look up the errors I was getting.

This turned me off Linux for years.

Last summer I tried Ubuntu and I was pleasantly surprised.

It installed without any issues and in under twenty minutes.

  • iv lost all respect for you now cuz you sitting infront of an apple

  • Lol? He's been doing that for a while now... That computer with a Pirillo head on it? Yeah, that's the same computer.

Oh, and let's not mention all the macs that he has around the house. ^_^

  • I have a mac osX and a linux computer installed with suse linux, but beware the learning curve is steep for linux and will take some time to get use to. I have been useing linux for the past 5 years and I absolutly love it.

  • hey i'm trying to put a linux OS on my ASUS A8N-VM CSM. i like ubuntu but am having huge issues.

  • I'm planning on putting PC Linux on; but I NEED a screen magnifier so if anyone knows a simple 1, 2, 3 set up screen magnifier, that'd be great. I did try enlarging the font of the windows to the necessary 24 point, but the windows became impossible to work with because they ran off the screen, and moving the windows around didn't help.

  • If you have Compiz Fusion, you can hold the Windows key and scroll the mouse wheel forwards to zoom in. Then you can work like normal, your whole screen magnifies. Then you can zoom out by holding Windows key and scroll back.

  • normal view of desktop windows key+1

    zoom into desktop windows key+2

deep zoom into desktop windows key+3

  • all he was reading is the first page on "Linspie 5.0 The No Nonsense Guide"

  • i have a mac, but i would like a free bootloader that can load both windows and linux any suggestions

  • rEFIt

  • tips and beads haha

  • I'm having a lot of trouble trying to get the Nvidia drivers to work with my 7600GS 256mb AGP using the analog VGA output. Each time I install and restart I get a blank screen. I'm using Ubuntu 7.10 and any help would be much appreciated, thanks.

  • umm, speaking of Linux: I'm using Ubuntu, and I cant get ANY audio from Chris' videos on YouTube. The rest of the YouTube videos work though....

  • you are not the only one matey, I can't get sound on any of Chris's vids either but sure can on any other.

  • well... how do i get sound?

  • All I did was waggle the volume slide bar on the video window and it came on, hope it helps.

  • YES!

    Thank you. That worked :)

  • No worries happy it helped!

  • what does chris mean when he says the adsense revenue is split?
