Green Day will always no matter what play a shit ton of their old songs live. In their heart its what made them. You got to undestand though that in order for them to even still make music they had to change in time as well. The industry constantly changes and if you LOVE playing music like they do, you have to adapt with the industry. I think Green Day did it well considering they still play with an edge and play 40+ songs Live.
@deaddarkness I never said it was bad, I just said I never liked it. It is really hard to convince someone that music is either good or bad, so I wouldn't even try
i get tired of reading comments that says, "ohh...they've sold out, uhh...they've changed" get over it. They've grown up. They cant keep writing songs about masturbation when they get into their 40s. At least now they're still writing songs which they feel strongly about. Every one of their albums fucking great by the way! All their albums sound so much different from one another
@Middle8theband i am sure no one cares about songs about masturbation. people just care about the fact that the music they make nowdays, aim to another kind of audience. everytime their music gets less punk and more pop. just hear how slower they get every album they make.
@jochaxbu fair enough mate. But for me, I dont really care about the speed and aggression in their songs. It's the lyrics and topics they write about. And i welcome their more recent material. Every one of their songs are unique in their own way, and I love them for thay. But then again, you have your opinion. What you like, is what's best for you.
@Middle8theband yes you are right. i justed wanted to point out that they really changed. maybe for good...as you maybe see it... or for bad as other people see it. but they did.
@jochaxbu wise words mate. But when their changed image/sound whatever, you cant say if it was good or bad. It's either you like it or you dont, or you dont care at all
I'm a big green day fan... with 21st century breakdown they broke my heart xD. nah just kidding. but i don't like their new style of playing that much... i mean i'm not saying 21st century breakdown songs are bad.. cuz they're pretty effin awesome.. i'm just saying i prefered dookie or kerplunk kind of playing.
@37thperson dude..look in youtube for a video called "Green Day Not So Silent Night" they change their style again :D and search for Carpe Diem or Last Gang in Town, they change their music style too. I think they back to their roots. :D
@saleens11 welllll. tell me this. what exactly is so bad about the record? it wasnt serious. it didnt have a single. and it wasnt meant to actually be an album. just a compilation of there B-sides.
@jochaxbu i REALLY have to agree, also lets hope by their next album, they drill some sense and morality into themselfs and go back to their fucking roots and stop all this emo shit that billie joe did just coz it was cool at the time, i love green day but since american idiot, its just been ridiculous. also when you release a video game it means you sold out. nuff said
I love all their music, even American idiot and 21st Century breakdown, but I wished they would stop with the make up and shit! I still don't understand why they did that!

@FairPlayful if your band starts being followed majorly by kids under 15 , it means you sold out.
