Not enough words in any language to adequately praise how talented and versatile Johnny Maestro is/was. There will never be another like him, ever. I posted a special pictorial tribute to him on his birthday two years ago on another music site, then he passed away last year, and that was a killer to post. :(
Although I do have a lot of clean records, a lot of my records are in low grades. I always clean my records, which is a big help. A lot has to do with the cartridge I use as well. It's very flattering to lower grade records.
Originally released on the COED label in December 1961 as a solo Johnny Maestro recording, but it failed to chart. This is one of my favorites by Johnny. Today, May 7, 2011, would have been John's 72nd birthday. Johnny, your fans still love you so.
Tidalwaves, I think you and Topaz are correct. I understand that the promos were issued in late December and the stock copies were shipped out in early January of '62.
@PJDooWop The liner notes from a compilation CD state that this song was recorded on November 10, 1961 by Johnny and an unknown vocal group. Promos always go out first, so your answer makes sense.
Very good find! Do you know if this ever made any of the charts? It's a real shame if that isn't the case. This is a great record! Very hit worthy! :D

Johnny absolutely was one of the best, and the fact that he sounds slightly out of phase on this 45 almost makes him sound magical.
