Is there a tabbed PDF out there I can download to look at? I've tried looking at Adam's site but can't find any 'c.c rider' there. Am I just being blind & computer illiterate?
I'm glad to know there was a method to my madness. Yes, I certainly learned, when I was studying with Nat Riddles, that one key to learning is to go back to old lesson tapes after your ears and technique have improved. Suddenly you begin hearing things. Thanks for weighing in!
@KudzuRunner The point in this video about how after awhile you can pick up the part after hearing it once is right! This is about my 1 year mark with your videos, and it's been off and on, but I can definitely repeat things after hearing them, not after you explain all the notes.
Adam, Not only are you a super harp player, but a even better enthusiastic harp teacher. You really want us to play and play well. Thanks for the tips. Headin' to the music store tomorrow to pick up my babe ( a few harps ! ) .
Lovin' your stuff Adam. Thank you so much. Is that amp a Premier Model 71? Just bought one myself, can't wait until it's a recapped and tubed. Anyways...wondering if you've got some video of you and Mr. Satan. Love to check out some of that! Keep going, you're the best blues teacher I ever had...well except life
great vidio. Could you tell us more about the cinds of mikes you recomend. I bought a Shure Green Bullet mike at GuitarCenter for a $100 wich was a good price. I also heard about a Hohner mike made for harmonicas. And I heard that a high imdedence mike is also used Fron an instructional video from Homespune Music A short mike video would be cool. Thanks JIM
I agree with the gentleman that this improve is better than the pro CD Videos...but I'm worried that we may loose these lesson. Do they fall off youtube after a while or is this something we will have years to come that we can put other player onto?
Don't worry. I've downloaded all the lessons, in high-quality form, onto CR-ROMs. Worst case scenario is that I edit them into a DVD and offer them for sale on this site. They will not disappear.
Adam, got a question for you on the three hole TB. I am studying these a lot lately in order to play Blowing the Family Jewels, and one thing that I still don't get is how to hold the mic when doing these intervals. My embouchure leaves too litle space for my hands to hold the mic when I'm doing that. Any thoughts on this ? Greetings from Brazil
When Nat Riddles played this sort of thing, he'd angle his left hand--his harp holding hand--so that the high notes were poinging away from his mouth and the low notes were much closer. That seemed to make TBing the 3 somewhat easier. He'd cup the mike with the pinkie, ring finger, and middle finger. Good question!
Thanks again Adam, just great information. In my opinion excellent instruction isn't about professional camera work, set design, the organized presentation of material or anything else, right? It's about content, the content of all of your lessons is exceptional. Quality content trumps all other factors every time. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

This is the 3rd time in 1 year that I began watching all these vids starting from 001.
I notice everything just falls into place. First time I didnt have a clue what you were doing.. now 1 year later I can hear it and I can play along.
For all you beginners.. Keep on watching the 'gussow series'!.. take what you can and PRACTICE!!
Have fun!!

Adam, how do you move so fast between octaves?
Do you take the tongue off the harp to move from one octave to the other and then put it down again?
luizzfar 2 years ago
I don't tongue block all my notes; I alternate between TB and lip pursing. The rest is just practice, practice, practice.
KudzuRunner 2 years ago
Yeap! I need lots of practice! Especially when it comes to octaves!
But I mean when you move from 1-4 draw to 2-5 draw to 3-6 blow, you do it so fast and smooth!! It's amazing!!!!
I wonder if when you're moving to the next octave you take the tongue off the harp comb, move it and then place the tongue between the holes again.

BRILLIANT !! Thank you for give us the chance of growing in this field.
