I think my 2 biggest options are this and a Marshall half-stack. I really want to get that "Brown Sound", but even the Marshall half-stacks are pretty expensive, and this amp is only like $700. Any opinions or suggestions?

Sounds like a Strat being used here and if so, this is a great platform for high gain using either a dirtbox or hot humbucker. I'm impressed at the linear volume...it seems like there is a smooth, gradual increase in volume from zero to north on the volume knob. Some amps, it goes from silence to BAM! making it difficult for apartment playing without some form of attenuation. Great demo...the best on youtube of this amp.

@DJBkrabi From what I've heard all you need is some hot humbuckers, and maybe an overdrive pedal in front of the amp, gain on zero, volume on max, to get a great metal distortion. I don't have this amp .. yet.. but from what I've gathered it is one of the best amps available for a reasonable price (being < $2500USD) and I can't wait till I get the money for my own!
