He's extremely flawed, no doubt, but he was important in opening my and i think a lot of other peoples eyes. I moved beyond his opinions and movies but i think him and particularly his film making style were massively important in getting young frustrated people talking and thinking, and he deserves some credit for that.

If two documentaries are made about a subject, one pro and one contra, the first person exaggerates in a certain direction to make his point, and the other exaggerates in the opposite direction to make his point. So pick something in between and you'll probably get the real answer.

Subjectivity is not necessarily a bad thing, and it's important that divergent opinions on a subject are given equal voice, but bias/ subjectivity is something that should always be taken into account. In my opinion, journalism always contains some level of subjectivity -- it's unavoidable.

In the Movie Roger and Me he shows a scene with what he said was the unemployed GM workers working at a White Mans party for money . They were human statues. Trouble is they were not. Moore was sued by the host of that party and lost the lawsuit. The truth was it was a charity event abused women. That was one of many lies in that movie. Also he said a Satellite truck from ABC was stolen. It never happened .
But you also hear a lot in this film from a number of former friends, colleagues and associates of Michael Moore who have since soured on him immensely. I mean, you hear Ralph Nader criticize Michael Moore! Is Nader your idea of a "biased Republican" or a "biased filmmaker"??

Actually, this isn't a kneejerk reactionary appraisal of Michael Moore, the filmmakers are Canadian and quite liberal themselves. The fact is, Michael does make some pretty ethically slippery decisions when he makes his films, and Caine and Melnyck do an admirable job of calling him to task for some of these maneuvers.

@thegreatcrates All documentaries are actually subjective since their makers want to make a certain point. If two documentaries are made about a subject, one pro and one contra, the first person exaggerates in a certain direction to make his point, and the other exaggerates in the opposite direction to make his point. So pick something in between and you'll probably get the real answer.

@spouwerranger well said. I agree. It's important to acknowledge that documentaries are ultimately the filmmaker's take on a subject. Subjectivity is not necessarily a bad thing, and it's important that divergent opinions on a subject are given equal voice, but bias/ subjectivity is something that should always be taken into account. In my opinion, journalism always contains some level of subjectivity -- it's unavoidable.

This is so sad. So much focus is drawn on Michael Moore's work rather than focusing on the facts involved in what he discusses. It isn't all lies now is it? If so are the makers of The Corporation next on the list to attempt to destroy? HE IS NOT ROGER SMITH, if what he said was all lies why did Flint place number 6 in national crime ratings for 2008 with a census estimate of 112,900? Please discredit that... Anyone?

i've come to discover that sasha baron (baren?) Cohen and Michael Moore films are fairly similar, the only difference is that Sasha Baron Cohen movies are more acurate to what really happened.

As for this movie, it isnt as bad, biased or inaccurate as other Anti-Moore movies. But it still has some supposed "facts" that are only backed up by hearsay.

In the Movie Roger and Me he shows a scene with what he said was the unemployed GM workers working at a White Mans party for money . They were human statues. Trouble is they were not. Moore was sued by the host of that party and lost the lawsuit. The truth was it was a charity event abused women. That was one of many lies in that movie. Also he said a Satellite truck from ABC was stolen. It never happened .

But you also hear a lot in this film from a number of former friends, colleagues and associates of Michael Moore who have since soured on him immensely. I mean, you hear Ralph Nader criticize Michael Moore! Is Nader your idea of a "biased Republican" or a "biased filmmaker"??
And what makes you think Michael Moore is any less biased than the makers of this film (who, BTW, began their research for it with the intent of praising Moore, only to find evidence that cast him in a bad light...)?

Michael Moore IS biased, but in a good way. You can think of biased as a bad thing. But do you think that when America made propaganda against the Nazis that was bad?
Moore has his reasons to be biased. Such as uncovering Bush's reason for an unjust war and showing a corrupt heath care system.
And Moore is NOT a liar. Go to his website for factual backup of his films you fools.

Peter is a free-market capitalist and Moore is a socialist that loves big government (Moore just hates businesses (other than his) for some reason). I saw his health care movie , I did not see 911. I will buy it soon. I am a RN and work in health care x15 years, I saw no lies in the health care movie. I think Moore would like a small Gov. that tells the truth and does not bend over for the rich crooks in corp. America. People want big Gov. to look over and stop the greed. We have big Gov. and big greed, if Moore points some of that out, so be it.

he lied about Cuba (he only showed the "rich peoples" hospital). He never showed all the people who defraud the insurance companies. He never shows you the people who suffer and die in Canada waiting for health care. He just tells one sided sob stories to manipulate his audience emotionally. You should watch John Stossel's "sick in america". it's on youtube, he does a fair job of showing the other side of the argument.

Stossel show is full of holes. Listen Crash;47mill no health care, another 50 mill. are bitching about what they must pay, 250 thou lost their jobs last month. A national plan is comming. To pay for it America will have to start manufacturing our own goods again. That scares the leaders of China & guys like you. People will vote to end free trade, high paying manufacturing jobs will return and health care will be paid for by more taxes. Rich people have screwed us for too long!

Hole 1- people paying for health care from spending accounts or paying cash will not drop the cost of health care. Compeating Doctors and Hospitals already set prices and services behind closed doors (anti trust is a joke). China is scared that America may start to manufacture its own goods again. Health care in the USA was bulit on a manufacture econ. Death to free trade will give birth to strong health care.

This is the second time I watched this film. I remember I commented on the first time around "who knew it take two liberal canadians to show the damning evidence that moore lies and really only cares about himself."
I'll see if I still have that same opinion.
Is liberalism in canada roughly the same to liberalism in the states? Or is it more a classical liberalism? Or do they use different terms?

Actually, this isn't a kneejerk reactionary appraisal of Michael Moore, the filmmakers are Canadian and quite liberal themselves. The fact is, Michael does make some pretty ethically slippery decisions when he makes his films, and Caine and Melnyck do an admirable job of calling him to task for some of these maneuvers.
