Just tap the button and it plays the note, no strumming. And the whammy is the analog stick, star power is select button

Got another tip for ya buddy.

Whenever there is alt strumming on L2 or R2 curl your fingers up and press the outside edge of the button. I find it makes it so theres less stress on my middle finger.

If that doesn't help you could always drink a pepsi before you play the song or eat a sugar cube ;P

I do it in a different way, I hold the controler in a way my fingers stretched/strained (dunno the word), so I can play it faster. Was quite helpful on Bark at the Moon and The Beast and the Harlot.

Anyways, I don't really play on dual shock much anymore, got the guitar :)
