  • making this out of of clay in my art class for some fow terfrain

  • could you always say the other names of the paints

  • Comment removed

  • wonder if u could make houses out off this??

  • @xxxspinzoxxx probably if u have really good bloks

  • Could something other than masonite be used for the base?

  • Can you use anything other than masonite for the bases?

  • i'm so going to try and do i't tomorrow good video :-)

  • HANDY TIP:

If you coat the poly in glue (thin layer will do.) then spray it, it will not melt!

  • 2:44-2:53 total ninja chef

  • black spray would be much better, cool tut though

  • I think static grass looks better as moss than flock does

  • what do you use to cut the masonite.

  • Great tutorial! Thank you!! (Just FYI, real moss usually just grows in the shadows, and not in direct sunlight, so it probably shouldn't be on top course of bricks.) Really cool wall still.

  • why not us e polystyrene for the base and you can use toothpicks to give it a bit more support and then paint the base for more texture

  • se if you r useing a wash on your miniturse hilite with the same colure and it looks cool

  • mine dosent looks like that all D:

  • can u just use regular acrylic paints instead of reaper or GW ones

  • what does dave mean when he says a bread knife is nice to have O.o

  • it might be a good idea to rough up the sides when you cut out the bigstrip at first.

  • i have made this difrent its match nicer

and your base i have about 300 for like 15 dollar

this is my explane: you need for this project: paper, styrofoom, pva gleu, Random stones.

you must do first cut the styrofoom two cuts you do paper on it and you do pva gleu on de stones in a cup and if its done stay tuned for part 2

  • @eetdekiwieter Learn to fucking spell you 5 year old.

  • where do yall get the ideas on how to make these

  • HE HAS THREE HANDS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • the ones you made a year ago is MUCH more nice, but also less grass i think.

  • is there any way of weatherproofing this for an outdoor mini-garden?

  • why dont you get a airbrush you can that that paintign dun in minits

  • @minijawa1st That is the best idea ever! You deserve an award.

  • i really dont mind the squeaking of styrofoam (lol @ commandofatman's "stilephome") Like it doesnt hurt my ears or make me uncomfortable or make me itch or make me have any other unpleasant reaction... To me it just sounds like making wargames terrain

  • AWESOME dude i <3 your videoes

  • ECK, I HAAAAAAAATE THAT SQUEAKING.

Am i the only one who can only describe it as "hearing with your molars"?

  • 10 people failed their cover saves with this terrain...

  • i luv miniature stuff cuz of u :D

  • We love you mini war gamer dave :)

  • couldnt you just spray paint it caos black

  • @TheBingbangbo Poly + spray paint = bad

  • @Silverthehedgehog135 Could use an air compressor and spray gun.

  • @MacRedbaron good point

  • @Silverthehedgehog135 Doesn't it melt? Im sure I saw that used in another project, it was some kind of town affected by acid rain I think.

  • i tryed your battle ruins it didnt turn out well

  • every time i cut the pink poly what ever you call it it doesnt cut evenly it pops off and its not even at all i made soem still but it didnt turn out well

  • "ts fine that they are differnt thickness's"hats what she said dude!

  • You have really nice hands.

  • I just finished making an amazing tower with multiple levels! Thanks mini war gamer Dave! Your technique is the best! :)

  • do you make all the terrain for all your gameing boards?

  • One question would it be easier to paint the blocks/spray the blocks before you glue them down ?

  • i spray paint it then give it look over and any bits that the sprays has missed i fill in

  • My comments read hey.... YOU'RE AWESOME

  • I am so going to do this with the pink foam I just bought a couple weeks ago.

  • I am so going to do this with the pink foam I just bought a couple weeks ago.

  • For static grass I tend to stick it down with plastic glue, polycement or super glue. This makes it stand up on end and look more realistic. I wouldn't do this on a board or big terrain piece, as it can get very expensive.

  • where do you buy the polistyren?

  • its easyer to use 1/2 inch-3/4 thick foam so theres less cutting trust me its worth while

  • whats better paint reaper or gw?

  • Is miniwargamer Dave married?

  • nice but would be great if there in the start also was told the time it takes (circa takes)

and normal sand works fine in some cases (best if it is from the beach and gathered on a sunny day :D less muddy)

  • @miniwargaming where can i buy regular fine turf?

  • Of course, probably the best styrene to use for this would be scraps, obviously, but I've had good results using foamboard scraps from buildings: especially the windows (they should already be straight). Just have the foam facing out.

  • Just an idea; glue the base first and detail it, let it dry and then add glue to the blocks and add the moss.

  • a great tips for making warhammer fantasy terrain is to sett some of the briks vertical and some of them horizontal, it looks older an moore awsome too look at.

another tips is to paint the sand like you paint tha sand on your models or the rest of the game board so that you dont have a table with a dessert theme, and stonewalls with a snowy theme :D:D

  • should you spraypaint it if you can

    ...

  • building tip for those of u that like realism i usualy dont use (bases/plataform for carachters and buildings ) , i construct the batle field field and terrain 1st <.< and

  • also use bleached bone over GW white for terrain highlights..closer to linen white

  • you can also spray prime the polystyrene if you cover it with a mix of pva glue and water (equal parts, milk like consistency) primer will melt unsealed styrofoam

  • if you want a more middle earth feel, try looking at a few stone walls you get in wales and the lakedistrict.

Seriously, if newzeland wasn't around, they would have shot the movie in wales.

Also, if you want a more desert feel, do everytthing the same, except the paint, change the grey to a sanstone yellow, and swap the turf and static grass with sand.

  • i hate the squeaking noises from the stilephome

  • @commandofatman i like the way u spell stilephome intead of Styrofoam.

  • @commandofatman But the content does get over the noise i think :)

  • @commandofatman Really Bad when u have headphones in. ARRR!!!!!

  • @commandofatman same here

  • @commandofatman What is this so called "stilephome"? It's styrofoam.

  • I made some of these and a tip I would offer is paint the blocks black before you glue them so you dont struggle with the foam color showing in the cracks when its put together

  • awsome vid i made one and it looks emense i could'nt do it without you nmini war gamer dave thanks

  • why not use black spray paint primer? seems quicker...

  • @MajorLeagueDoorKickr

    polestyrene sucks up spray paint

  • So basically you can make an entire building out of this?

  • Man this would be awesome for warhamer or warhamer 40k! I used to make the ugliest terain, now ppl ask me how I do it so well! I tell them to look up these videos!

  • waste of glue

    shame shame

  • Are you using Bluecor polystyrene or EPS?

  • can you also spray it chaos black?

  • @yorpwnd no, spray paint eats up foam, watch the asteroid terrain video they pur out if you don't know what I'm talking about.

  • I'm Gunna Try This my Style But Polystirine is Reli irratating to me ! :S

  • You are like god.. The master of all creations.. :D

  • Easy, cheap & awesome!

  • hwy i was wondering if you gus could make a vid on how to cut masaonite becouse i have no idea how to and i dont want to mess it up

  • i know your not meant to use spray can because of what it does, but can you use the paint in a spray gun or airbrush?

  • nice stone walls with grass bottom, but what if you're playing on a desert game table?

  • @Henk288 put stones on it instead :P you dont have tocopy what he does EXACTLY you know!

  • thats nice, really looks realistic man, keep up the good work, i love your vids, me and my friend are gonna make a lot of terrain pieces this weekend thanks to you. just a question: could you perhaps make some painting tutorials, i suck at painting, so if you could make like "how to paint eldar, spacemarines, tyranids ETC" vid would be just awsome, cuz i really want to paint like you do, ur good!!!

  • funner is a word now!

  • cant i just spray paint it black, do I need to paint it? o.O someone help me please :)

  • you will never read this comment

    (i hope)

  • @Homerhorst

    You're doing it wrong.

  • I love thouse vids!!! :)

  • 10 people do not appreciate real art!

  • Can u guys put up a vid on how 2 to make forests

  • "wargaming doesn´t get much funner then his" Oh yea thats what were talkin bout :D WE LOVE TERRAIN MAKING xD

  • awesome!

  • God this looks so fun.

  • why not just use wall puddy it looks and acks like moartar

  • this is amazing quite hard though but thats how its supposed to be of course but still awesome cause its just amazing how much u can do with styrofoam, and fake grass, paper everything its just amazing i love your videos and i love wargaming have fun wargamers

  • Many Thanks

  • is it just me or every time he gives the gw equivilents he always says "----, --- *cut* ---" why does he always have a cut there? I know in this vid its --- cut --- ---, but why does he randomly have cuts?

  • This is so freakinn awsome

  • dave has delacanesess

  • its freakinn awesome

  • can i use it for 40k?

  • can you get that type of foam in australia???

  • he a tip you kan to do it with normal black its to realy cool

  • What I do when I use flock or sand and stuff like that is; fold a paper in half to put underneath my model, when you're done you can easily pour back in to your bag what you spilled.

  • at 7:45 would you like, do a heavy drybrush with codex gray?

  • what for gleu i need pva doesn't work

  • i have now clue what war game is but i love watching and making them!!!

  • Amusingly enough, this works brilliant as well for casted pieces, like from Hirst.

  • where do you get pva glue

  • this i a great peice but sometime it's a good effect if you put some moddling sand or what ever in the gaps but not all of them. great job though i now know how and where to paint different colours in different parts .

  • is there a vid on how to make a road??

  • isnt PVA glue the same as a bottle of elmers glue?

  • @niteman334 i dont know but ive been looking every where for pva glue

  • @TheMrnerfdoger09 elmers is pva glue. pva is ANY water based glue. You can get it from staples, micals, or any crafts store.

  • i want to use this for a school progect but i dont have wargaming paints can anyone help ?

  • @yboben you can probably use watercolour. probably.

  • @icexiangwu Trust me when I say you dont want to use water coulor ive tried

  • @yboben you can probably use watercolour, probably. but if you want the drybrushing and highlighting effects then I strongly suggest acrylic. you can buy the Tamiya or Hobbycolour acrylic pain brands, which are significantly cheaper than citadel acrylic paints.

  • nicely done, tho for the fine turf you should beable to buy woodland senic's turf (which i believe you used) that has a colour mix to it, with some red and browns gives more of a grassy look to it. instead of the solid green. i use it for my bases its a very sutle colour change but it adds abit of realistic look to the grass effect. but nice walls.

  • Ive been doing this stuff for years and I still learn new things from watching these vids awsome job guys keep it up

  • If you want to do something bigger than a wall with polystyrene DON'T whatever you do use canoe makers resin EVER it will completely dissolve any and all polystyrene!

  • music sounds like runescape music :)

  • painting 90 hormagaunts is more fun... well not really it takes for ever

  • man i used to live near welland!! but just a few years ago i moved to NF with my parents. darn if only i knew about you guys then!!

  • this is so cool!!!!

  • man this is awsome!!

  • kan u 'umees maek uz boyz a bildin'?! pLAEZ!

  • nice. you are good to paint

  • another great way to make a wall is to make resin rocks from a castle kit or something, thats what i do

  • cool, really helpful

  • nice hair :/

  • Why do you do them so grey it loks like they made of steel?

  • If you're going for traditional European masonry then by all means leave gaps and fill with mortar. You can however bevel the blocks a little on the edges and glue them as snug as possible for an Inca stone look. These look AWESOME for Lizardmen or jungle terrain.

  • i have a request im only 12 so i dunno if uv dun it yet but could u make a vid on how 2 make warhammer 40k objective markers if u can great thnx

  • Try to put the "blocks" up against the wall

  • How come you base it in actual paint and not primer wouldnt spray painting it be easier?

  • @Crondak Spray painting would melt the foam

  • This vid was awesome, you should really do more of this kind of stuff.

  • what do you think of using some kind of sandy paint like GW graveyard erth on the stones instead of the codex grey?

and styrofoam, do you have a few words for that so i maby can translate it to swedish cus i live in sweden and cant realy find styrofoam (the blue foam what the name of that now were)

  • wooo static grass

  • I love these terrain videos. I always wondered how they made all the awesome terrain and I couldn't. But because of your videos I can see that I also have the ability to make cool terrain myself. Thank you wargaming!

  • How do you keep the glue top clean?

  • so gona try it

  • If you put these with the battlle ruins and put them on the stepped hills, you get sheer awesomeness

  • cowifier6. yes that would be awsome but if you add 2 that idea a crashed asteroid and some sandbag terain it would be sheer epicness!!!

  • hey guys im mixed up between what army to collect tyranids, space wolves or tau plz help

  • I'm gonna guess that they look cool to you, so now you can study their story. Do you prefer the alien swarm that wants to consume all life ? The vikings from the future ? The fisheads that are creating an utopic multi-racial society ?

Finally, if that's not enough, check MWG factions forums for the basics of strategies with these races, and determine which playstyle is yours.

  • thanks im choosing space wolves

  • @xxxHaloRulesxxx Tau! It's simple choice! For the Ethereals, you don't have any choice!

...Ok, you have. If you want to be mobile and shoot at move, Tau. If you like being wild, Space Wolves. Or if you are in love with Monstrous Monsters and waves of unending biomass, go Tyranids. Oh, and I forgot: Tau have Crisis and Stealth Battlesiuts, pure awesomeness!!!

  • @xxxHaloRulesxxx

Go with DA ORKS there really diverse meaning you can make a horde army like the Tyranids, or good at the close combat like SW or a shooty up army like Tau

  • do you have to use masonite, or can you use thick cardboard? also, where do you get the masonite?

  • awesome! little tip: when putting glue on your terrain use a piece of card or paper to spreed insted of wrecking a paint brush but for small hard to reach places maybe use a cocktail stick e.g. in between the stones to apply the glue please use:-)

  • This is very awesome!!!

I must try it too :D

  • cool

  • again very amazing

  • so sAD

  • What glue do you use Dave?

  • they look abit big!

  • instead of yousing glue you could just use white paint and it would look like snow

  • This is awesome....it's like a cooking show but for wargammers ^_^

  • I think its more like art attack

  • Using a file also helps if you want to add battle damage or just rough things up.
