Great tutorial! Thank you!! (Just FYI, real moss usually just grows in the shadows, and not in direct sunlight, so it probably shouldn't be on top course of bricks.) Really cool wall still.
i really dont mind the squeaking of styrofoam (lol @ commandofatman's "stilephome") Like it doesnt hurt my ears or make me uncomfortable or make me itch or make me have any other unpleasant reaction... To me it just sounds like making wargames terrain
every time i cut the pink poly what ever you call it it doesnt cut evenly it pops off and its not even at all i made soem still but it didnt turn out well
For static grass I tend to stick it down with plastic glue, polycement or super glue. This makes it stand up on end and look more realistic. I wouldn't do this on a board or big terrain piece, as it can get very expensive.
Of course, probably the best styrene to use for this would be scraps, obviously, but I've had good results using foamboard scraps from buildings: especially the windows (they should already be straight). Just have the foam facing out.
a great tips for making warhammer fantasy terrain is to sett some of the briks vertical and some of them horizontal, it looks older an moore awsome too look at.
another tips is to paint the sand like you paint tha sand on your models or the rest of the game board so that you dont have a table with a dessert theme, and stonewalls with a snowy theme :D:D
building tip for those of u that like realism i usualy dont use (bases/plataform for carachters and buildings ) , i construct the batle field field and terrain 1st <.< and
you can also spray prime the polystyrene if you cover it with a mix of pva glue and water (equal parts, milk like consistency) primer will melt unsealed styrofoam
if you want a more middle earth feel, try looking at a few stone walls you get in wales and the lakedistrict.
Seriously, if newzeland wasn't around, they would have shot the movie in wales.
Also, if you want a more desert feel, do everytthing the same, except the paint, change the grey to a sanstone yellow, and swap the turf and static grass with sand.
I made some of these and a tip I would offer is paint the blocks black before you glue them so you dont struggle with the foam color showing in the cracks when its put together
Man this would be awesome for warhamer or warhamer 40k! I used to make the ugliest terain, now ppl ask me how I do it so well! I tell them to look up these videos!
thats nice, really looks realistic man, keep up the good work, i love your vids, me and my friend are gonna make a lot of terrain pieces this weekend thanks to you. just a question: could you perhaps make some painting tutorials, i suck at painting, so if you could make like "how to paint eldar, spacemarines, tyranids ETC" vid would be just awsome, cuz i really want to paint like you do, ur good!!!
this is amazing quite hard though but thats how its supposed to be of course but still awesome cause its just amazing how much u can do with styrofoam, and fake grass, paper everything its just amazing i love your videos and i love wargaming have fun wargamers
is it just me or every time he gives the gw equivilents he always says "----, --- *cut* ---" why does he always have a cut there? I know in this vid its --- cut --- ---, but why does he randomly have cuts?
What I do when I use flock or sand and stuff like that is; fold a paper in half to put underneath my model, when you're done you can easily pour back in to your bag what you spilled.
this i a great peice but sometime it's a good effect if you put some moddling sand or what ever in the gaps but not all of them. great job though i now know how and where to paint different colours in different parts .
@yboben you can probably use watercolour, probably. but if you want the drybrushing and highlighting effects then I strongly suggest acrylic. you can buy the Tamiya or Hobbycolour acrylic pain brands, which are significantly cheaper than citadel acrylic paints.
nicely done, tho for the fine turf you should beable to buy woodland senic's turf (which i believe you used) that has a colour mix to it, with some red and browns gives more of a grassy look to it. instead of the solid green. i use it for my bases its a very sutle colour change but it adds abit of realistic look to the grass effect. but nice walls.
If you want to do something bigger than a wall with polystyrene DON'T whatever you do use canoe makers resin EVER it will completely dissolve any and all polystyrene!
If you're going for traditional European masonry then by all means leave gaps and fill with mortar. You can however bevel the blocks a little on the edges and glue them as snug as possible for an Inca stone look. These look AWESOME for Lizardmen or jungle terrain.
what do you think of using some kind of sandy paint like GW graveyard erth on the stones instead of the codex grey?
and styrofoam, do you have a few words for that so i maby can translate it to swedish cus i live in sweden and cant realy find styrofoam (the blue foam what the name of that now were)

this is my explane: you need for this project: paper, styrofoom, pva gleu, Random stones.
you must do first cut the styrofoom two cuts you do paper on it and you do pva gleu on de stones in a cup and if its done stay tuned for part 2
