I really enjoy your playing! Where did you go to school? I'm 16 and took up piano only a year ago but am seriously considering a career as a musician. I am concerned I won't be proficient enough to be accepted to the schools I aspire to go to because I have poor discipline. Any advice? Also, what sort of piano are you playing?
@GisellaHart I actually did a part music degree at Royal Holloway, part of the University of London. If you are thinking of auditioning to a music school, I recommend you have a look at the Piano Forum on Pianostreet - there are lots of discussions on the subject of auditions and repertoire etc.
Dear Sir, I sent you an email last night requesting you as to where I can find the sheet music of this theme song. I tried all music stores and Libraries and they say it is never published under john williams. I really, really want to get this piece.
It's so beautiful :') Do you know the soundtrack of schindlers list? it's also composed by John Williams. I'm playing it at the Moment, its truly beautiful. do you think you could play it too? :) I'd be very happy if I heard you playing it.
@deadrabbit30 Thank you for that. I have accompanied violinists in the 'Remembrance' and 'Theme', but the published piano arrangements I have seen are a bit simplified, and do not include enough of what is in the violin and piano versions.
@parchesi Thank you. It is in a JW compilation, which I borrowed from the library. If you search for the title on Amazon or Musicroom you may find it.
nice playing, i also share your thought about few quality piano arrangements out there- this one gets the mark though...i recently came upon a most interesting impressionist piece by an american composer! charles griffes' 'the white peacock' on imslp! would love to hear your rendition
@licoricestic Thank you for your kind comment. I have 'The White Peacock' - however I am not sure my piano or recording equipment is quite up to the quality needed to play impressionist music like that.
I'm sure you will be able to find one to download somewhere online. If not you could probably extract one from a download of my video, but the quality will not be that good.
Thank you very much! I guess I assume my videos will only ever be played once, so your comment was much appreciated. I doubt if I will give up playing - if I do that, I could go hungry!
Good piece but a little too pretty considering what the character was all about. I mean let`s face it, She was pulling a Hilton in the movie; Screwing everybody and everything. (Yes boys and girls, "Hilton" is a new street term that means a women who screws everybody.. And yes it comes from Paris Hilton)
Thanks for your interesting comment. Whether it fits the film is difficult for me to say, but I think this is one of the best published piano arrangement of a Williams piece.
Rusty saw Carrol Polehemus (sp.?) as what he wanted to see at first. Watch the scene who she was with the boy that was abused by her mother and how she interacts with him. He was taken by her display of compassion there, but didn't see she self-serving ways until later.
Same thing with the professor that was her ex-husband---he become enamored with her and eventually used him up.
Great performance, bravo! Coincidentally, I received the "JW Anthology" book last week, I'm currently training on this piece. I agree that this transcription is top-notch.
thank you! I hope you enjoy the Anthology. I'm sure you will agree with me that the transcriptions are variable in quality, but that around 1988 JW or his publisher had the services of someone particularly skilful.
This is a master piece! Dont mistake me, but this song is like a psychotropic drug: makes me feel things that are inexplicable. I dont know the fine details of music but there is only one other song that evokes the same feelings and sentiments in me: Moonlight Sonata by Beethoven.
Thanks! Your appreciation of the piece vindicates my decision to play and record it here in preference to some of the other John Williams arrangements available.
Thank you! Credit is also due to the anonymous arranger - not all (indeed very few) published John Williams piano transcriptions are as good as this one.
A most enjoyable rendition and as we have blue skies and a cold winter's day appropriate music to come home to after a brisk walk across the fields. Well done Phillip. Jannarta.
Thank you. It is a good piano version, and as good as a conceert piece as the pieces from Schindler's List that Williams transcribed for violin and orchestra/piano.
Great job never knew it was called remembering Carolyn

The title is "Remembering Carolyn," Ed. It is from the point of view of Rusty. So of course it is very endearing, but also lonesome and remorseful.
