  • Great job never knew it was called remembering Carolyn

  • @KK872 Thank you!

  • wow! beautiful.

  • @LamelyShane Thank you!

  • so beautiful...

  • @MrsAlrighty Thank you!

  • Quite beautifully played Phil. I was heavily involved in music during HS and really miss it. You certainly reminded me of that! Excellent...

  • @grh2012 Thank you. I hope you have the opportunity to take up music again!

  • I really enjoy your playing! Where did you go to school? I'm 16 and took up piano only a year ago but am seriously considering a career as a musician. I am concerned I won't be proficient enough to be accepted to the schools I aspire to go to because I have poor discipline. Any advice? Also, what sort of piano are you playing?

  • @GisellaHart I actually did a part music degree at Royal Holloway, part of the University of London. If you are thinking of auditioning to a music school, I recommend you have a look at the Piano Forum on Pianostreet - there are lots of discussions on the subject of auditions and repertoire etc.

  • @GisellaHart PS I am playing a Kawai KG2D grand.

  • @aMgVbros4aetas Thank you - it does take a little practice. But it is an excellent arrangement.

  • You really have a flair for performing :)

  • @theepicprodigyman Thank you - and sorry for delay in responding!

  • @PSearPianist no problem!

  • Thankyou for recording this. I am hoping our friend, markus, finds inspiration here in music and law..

  • Dear Sir, I sent you an email last night requesting you as to where I can find the sheet music of this theme song. I tried all music stores and Libraries and they say it is never published under john williams. I really, really want to get this piece.

    Please guide.

    Thanks

  • @kpkoul100 I did reply to you. I will resend my message.

  • It's so beautiful :') Do you know the soundtrack of schindlers list? it's also composed by John Williams. I'm playing it at the Moment, its truly beautiful. do you think you could play it too? :) I'd be very happy if I heard you playing it.

  • @deadrabbit30 Thank you for that. I have accompanied violinists in the 'Remembrance' and 'Theme', but the published piano arrangements I have seen are a bit simplified, and do not include enough of what is in the violin and piano versions.

  • @PSearPianist hm.. well, I can send you the link to the sheets I used, i don't know if it's what you're looking for but you can try. :)

  • i want to learn this song soo baad!:( any sheet music?

  • @parchesi Thank you. It is in a JW compilation, which I borrowed from the library. If you search for the title on Amazon or Musicroom you may find it.

  • Wow...this is really gorgeous...wish I could play like you!!! Cheers!!

  • @chelsea25598 Thank you! Keep practising!

  • I love it!

  • @queggy1 Thank you!

  • @PSearPianist You're welcome, SIr!

  • Nothing wrong with the way Larry David looks. Amazing skills man. You play beautifully. I have always loved this score and you do it justice.

  • @paulod27 Thank you for your kind comment! Assuming Larry David makes lots of money I have no objection to looking like him!

  • you look like larry david from the side haha. dont take offense to that its jus somethin i noticed....

great playing. this is the first time ive heard this song and i like it a lot

  • @essyayen Thank you! Re Larry David, I know nothing about him, but you are not the first to make that comment!

  • Really lovely...one of my favourite movies & such a haunting song, you play beautifully! Cheers!

  • @chelsea25598 Thanks for that really kind comment!

  • nice playing, i also share your thought about few quality piano arrangements out there- this one gets the mark though...i recently came upon a most interesting impressionist piece by an american composer! charles griffes' 'the white peacock' on imslp! would love to hear your rendition

  • @licoricestic Thank you for your kind comment. I have 'The White Peacock' - however I am not sure my piano or recording equipment is quite up to the quality needed to play impressionist music like that.

  • i have'nt heard this song before - but its impressive and very expressive :) great job

  • Thank you!

  • You got it just right

  • Very nicely done!

  • Thanks for your kind comments!

  • Excellente ! Felicidades! saludos desde Mexico

  • Gracias - y saludos del Reino Unido.

  • ohh want an mp3 of this song! ;)

  • I'm sure you will be able to find one to download somewhere online. If not you could probably extract one from a download of my video, but the quality will not be that good.

  • I hope that means you liked it!

  • I danced to this song for my ballet recital!! This song is so beautiful and mysterious, you're version is great!

  • Thanks for your kind comment. The piece would certainly be an excellent choice for a ballet performance. I hope yours was a success!

  • that gave me chills. ...so very excellent.

  • Thank you - I'm glad you liked it!

  • I was searching for the theme music from Presumed innocent; and found this..

    Excellent! Well done, most impressive!

  • Thank you very much!

  • wow.. you're a very good player.. nicely done :D

Thank you for posting this video.. i've replayed it a few times in the last hour.. its just that good :D

    Don't ever give up playing

  • Thank you very much! I guess I assume my videos will only ever be played once, so your comment was much appreciated. I doubt if I will give up playing - if I do that, I could go hungry!

  • "regret and reflection"

You hit the nail on the head.

  • This video is actually how I found your channel some time ago! Very well played!

  • Thank you! I will correct the misprint in the title of this video!

  • Good piece but a little too pretty considering what the character was all about. I mean let`s face it, She was pulling a Hilton in the movie; Screwing everybody and everything. (Yes boys and girls, "Hilton" is a new street term that means a women who screws everybody.. And yes it comes from Paris Hilton)

  • Thanks for your interesting comment. Whether it fits the film is difficult for me to say, but I think this is one of the best published piano arrangement of a Williams piece.

  • Agreed. Wonderful stuff.

  • Thank you!

  • Rusty saw Carrol Polehemus (sp.?) as what he wanted to see at first. Watch the scene who she was with the boy that was abused by her mother and how she interacts with him. He was taken by her display of compassion there, but didn't see she self-serving ways until later.

Same thing with the professor that was her ex-husband---he become enamored with her and eventually used him up.

Great score and nicely done piece here, btw.

  • The title is "Remembering Carolyn," Ed. It is from the point of view of Rusty. So of course it is very endearing, but also lonesome and remorseful.

  • I absolutely love this piece. Great job!

  • Thank you - I'm glad you enjoyed it.

  • Great performance, bravo! Coincidentally, I received the "JW Anthology" book last week, I'm currently training on this piece. I agree that this transcription is top-notch.

  • thank you! I hope you enjoy the Anthology. I'm sure you will agree with me that the transcriptions are variable in quality, but that around 1988 JW or his publisher had the services of someone particularly skilful.

  • This is a master piece! Dont mistake me, but this song is like a psychotropic drug: makes me feel things that are inexplicable. I dont know the fine details of music but there is only one other song that evokes the same feelings and sentiments in me: Moonlight Sonata by Beethoven.

  • Thanks! Your appreciation of the piece vindicates my decision to play and record it here in preference to some of the other John Williams arrangements available.

  • Thank you! Credit is also due to the anonymous arranger - not all (indeed very few) published John Williams piano transcriptions are as good as this one.

  • excellent!

thanks for playing so wonderfully and posting this video :)

  • That's very kind - thank you!

  • Thank you, Phillip, for another lovely video! Beautifully played!

  • Thank you for your comment. I is a particularly good arrangement, I think.

  • Haunting playing. I always see stories in your renditions.

  • That's a really nice connemt. Thank you!

  • A most enjoyable rendition and as we have blue skies and a cold winter's day appropriate music to come home to after a brisk walk across the fields. Well done Phillip. Jannarta.

  • Thanks very much!

  • great music and interpretation.

  • Thank you!

  • Thank you!

  • Yes - he is. Amazing inventive with lots of inspiration. Wonderful piano version. Beautiful playing.

  • Thank you. It is a good piano version, and as good as a conceert piece as the pieces from Schindler's List that Williams transcribed for violin and orchestra/piano.

  • Hi =) Awesome ;D 5st

    Thomas

  • Glad you enjoyed it!

  • That was pretty amazing!

  • I'm not sure about that....but thanks!

  • Nice. John Williams, the composer of many great soundtracks including ET, Star Wars, and, not sure, Superman.

  • Thanks for your comment. He did indeed do the soundtrack for 'Superman', and is undoubtedly one of the great musicians of our times.
