Well if you listen closely to most metal music, bluegrass is the closest form of older music that matches it. Put some distortion on those banjo and guitar rolls and switch the drumbeat a lil bit and you got metal instead of bluegrass lol

@TheFiretiger nah classical music like beethoven etc made the blue prints for metal music(most metal musicians go off of the same scale) so in reality bands like blind guardian and megadeth are the modern day composers ...and in this shit world of pop they're the only ones keeping music alive

Its not only that, its that the metal sensibilities came from the surf rock erra (IE: Dick Dale), Sure most of the complex melodic metal have their foundations in basic scales and song writing techniques as from the classical and baroque periods.

However I just find it bizzare and brilliant that its so closely re-inspiring.

Not all pop songs are bad, there are good well written songs out there, just not alot that gets air time with people pushing more commercial music

i realize they're not doing a death metal version, that's why i said its "not entirely" metal, but it's definitely partly metal. the double kick, the riffs start being really metalized at around 1:41, and hansi's vocal gets more throaty / powerful.... but there's still the piano. it's a mix. you cant say its not metal or all metal, it'sboth.

@theZodiacDigital while I agree mostly with what you say in my personal opinion Death Metal and the derivatives of it are too influenced by hardcore punk - Death Metal is still metal though yeah. Deathcore and Metalcore however... no... (also I know death metal itself isn't directly influenced by hardcore punk but Thrash is and death metal takes those influences further, the derivatives take that and take it too much in the direction of hardcore punk to really be metal anymore)
