Thank you guys... I've been living in Sweden for ten years and the only thing that I truely missed from Australia was the people I grew up with, and, the Australia I grew up with. Hearing this song maid me cry. I'm not a pussy. But, mayby, you need to lose it to miss it. The greatest Chisel song ever!!!!! Damn it .... play it again... By the way my Swedish sons love it too. :-)
when i hear this song i wish i could play the drums like steve. saw them in concert two nights ago, was awesome and the new drummer is great, but just miss steve spesh on this song
I seen these guys in townsville for the light the Nitro tour, I'm 15 and to me this is real music the stuff today just can't be compared to these guys
Ageless. Without doubt the best road song ever written is 'bow river'. There is none better.
Jump in your car, whatever heap of crap it is, before you take off make sure you have it on cd, and wherever you are going and whatever you are doing, you will never forget this song. I guarantee it!
I'm Wendy Gehrig, one of the very first Chisel fans back in the 70's!!!! I still love you guys and your music!!!!! Ian the guitargod is AMAZING!!!! I'm barely staying in my clothes bopping around hard core in the front row, long red-blondish hair. light top!!!! Wish I was back home to go to all your concerts again!!!!! Go Chisel Go!!!!
@curtxtc Harp player is David Blythe and has played with them a few times. I am praying that he is on tour with them in November, some songs are just not the same without him, Bow River, Khe Sahn etc
Mossy and Barnsie, you blokes still fuckin rock a hundred times harder than every one of these homo's that make the "charts" these days! Keep it up and show these youngins how it's done!
God I cant wait for November, 2011. It is going to be the day my heart soars and I take my vocal cords out for a stretch again. Oh yeah!!! I missed this gig and I was never so devastated, growing up with Chisel like I did, they run through my veins and when I bleed, I bleed CHEAP WINE, lol. Just look at the total admiration on the faces of the crowd in the first minute or so. Its fucking priceless!! Love ya boys. AUSTRALIA - we have LIFT OFF!!!!!!!!!!!
@mattyoz0 Sorry I dont understand where your comment comes from.? are you a jusitn fan that is upset? . if so good luck to you and I whish you well. Cheers Steve.
@stevelewis3 I made that comment because anyone makes out that they broke up with someone over their taste in music is just a virgin and has never had a girlfriend. Happy pulling.
@stevelewis3 your an inspiration mate hahahaha............Justin Bieber been in the industry 5mins and is already irrelevant (unless your a 12 year old girl).
@stevelewis3 Choke splutter, cough vomit. Chisel GAY?????? Youre girlfiend must have been TOTALLY ignorant or just plain retarded. I would so love to see her say that to the millions of Aussie MEN'S MEN who love and appreciate Australia's BEST FUCKING ROCK BAND EVER, COLD CHISEL. Bikies, truckers, working class men as well as all the adoring appreciative females out there. You had a lucky escape mate. Comparing, no even speaking Chisel's name in the same breath as Justin Beiber is an insult!
what a band , so fucken sad that Steve Prestwich aint around no more, i cried when i heard he passed on, he and the the rest of Chisel gave us so many great times and memories they are true legends in aussie rock and us kiwis will always remember what a outstanding kickass rocknroll beast they were RIP Steve
@JMPICTUREPRODUCTIONS no worries mate they'll catch up with ya sooner or later , it always comes back to what is real and kicks ya in the guts and this, this well i dont really need to say anything, just listen and enjoy , good on ya
Possibly the best rock band in the world ever. How come the rest of the world never accepted them?? I'm English and totally love them (ok, so I am engaged to an Australian but...)!!
@6valtra they tried to but the problem was that an American recording studio required them to change their image. but the result didn't go the way of the recording studio. there is a song that Jimmy wrote called you got Nothing I want which was directed at that studio.
I was i Windsor NSW back in 2005 when I walked in a music shop and was blown away by what I heard coming through the speakers. I asked the guy whos this band m8 never heard anything like it b4, I swear down the place went silent and all looked at me in discust.Guy said how dare you m8 this is bloody COLD CHISEL. Well I was hooked from that day on and I have to say in the most hetrosexual straight was possible I love Ian Moss and am so turned on by his playing haha. Would love to see him live
By the way I did also get to play some of there stuff after that in one or two bands I managed to hook up with during my stay in Australia, the Ian Francis band being one of them. I really did enjoy Australia and would love to go back there sometime in the future and move permanently from Englad to be A POM on the drums full time down under

@MsMadShopper i was never luckt enough 2 be in the right place at the right time to witness such a great experience.. RIP Steve W Prestwich, 5 March 1954 – 16 January 2011
Saw them live 2 months ago.... still as awesome as ever. Everyone was arm in arm singing every song and it was irreplaceable. I wish my children were old enough to be there.
@roadtrain600 i agree. i was there on that saturday night. the crowd was electric. and the good news is that they are planing an Aussie tour and a new album all in the new year. it was well worth the sunburns that i recieved on the weekend
i'd like to see one prick in hilltop hoods pick up a guitar and play it like mossy.. or pick up a pen and write a song that means as much as half the chisel shit. you can take your hilltop hoods and fuck off with em.
@flugtug08 yeah just like at the Deni Ute Muster and the V8 supercars when the drew 20,000+ and 50,000+ respectively. the Deni concert wa then best i have ever been to. 20,000+ screaming fans and the best rock concert i have been to ever i would say your right
there is a rumor that they may tour Australia and New Zealand next year. not sure if it is true but if it is i buying front row seats to see them. without hesitation.
to anybody that is interested Cold Chisel will be headlining at the Deniliquin ute muster on Saturday october the second of this year. too bad for me it is in NSW and not in SA
this is a great all round song in my opinion the best Chisel ever recorded. i would have loved to have been at the concert. it would have been electric. lucky for me i have the DVD
zembryoz, zephranna01 is clearly kid. Trolling for a response. They are talking out of their arse and obviously don't know too much, trying to put out an "opinion" but hasn't bothered to actually base their "opinion" on any facts.
zephranna01 is a NAL "noob at life" go txt a mate, if you have any.
u guys r all taking this personal.. its only rock n roll but i like. all bands u mention like all others have their changes in line up n tone but we always remember the moment that that song or sound made us stand up and identify with something we could never explain. music is the most crucial art and to be able to replicate live vs studio is the true measure and one that oz bands are very good at.
@zephranna01 AC/DC did change their sound for their reach into the US. I was in the Thunderstruck music video and it was squarely aimed at a US audience. They also changed their lineup constantly as well their "sound":
@zephranna01 umm what? Abba were picked up in Australia first and foremost, their producer was Australian and their documentary was shot in Australia. Essentially without the support of Countdown and of course Molly Meldrum they would've stayed a Eurovision one hit wonder. This is as true for AHA and many other international acts as it was for Abba. Australia was Central to pop musics success of the 70s and 80s and somewhat even in the 90s. Research before you try to speak like an expert.
Nobody's 'embarrassed', zephranna01, but in case you hadn't noticed the US has twenty times our population, Europe moreso, so they are much bigger markets and much tougher to crack. And the major record labels dominate: if you don't sound a certain way or fit a certain image then they probably won't sign you. Now that's bullshit of course, but it's the reality nevertheless. The beauty of Chisel is that they were a pub band with great songwriting, but they basically stayed true to their origins.
Same here, but I'm glad they didn't. I hate to think what compromises they might have been pushed into to crack the US or Europe. No oblique Australian words or references in the lyrics, no swearing, Barnsey would have had to have friggin opera lessons or something. Stuff that, I prefer them the way they were/are.
Libertyordeaf: Spot on, The American recording people required Chisel to change and modify their style to make it more accepting to the American record buying masses, Chisel said no, which their great track "You got nothing I want" was all about.
hehe, "up and coming talent" - Cold Chisel have been around since 1978 and they actually broke up in 1983. They're one of the best Australian rock bands ever. It's a shame they obviously werent exposed to the rest of the world as much as they deserve.
Pardon the faux paux...USA here and one of the reasons I love YouTube is just for this...the opportunity to hear bands I would never had run across with out them!
Has anybody invited them? Most Australian bands dont even know if they have fans overseas because its not heard about. I tell u this. U make enough noise. make it worth their while and they will probably come. let them know u want it they would probably respond. Would be great to see though. A chisel dvd live in europe. How awesome.
AWESOME :)

What an up and coming talent. God Bless YouTube for providing the avenues to see and hear what we could not otherwise

hehe, "up and coming talent" - Cold Chisel have been around since 1978 and they actually broke up in 1983. They're one of the best Australian rock bands ever. It's a shame they obviously werent exposed to the rest of the world as much as they deserve.

this is the purest form of rock music. Cold Chisel's songs always seem to tell a story. and Jimmy also brought that into his solo career

Why don't they come and tour Europe ???????
23Docker 2 years ago
Has anybody invited them? Most Australian bands dont even know if they have fans overseas because its not heard about. I tell u this. U make enough noise. make it worth their while and they will probably come. let them know u want it they would probably respond. Would be great to see though. A chisel dvd live in europe. How awesome.
