  • This band is so badass - at the time this aired I remember thinking HEY! The drummer and bassist switched places... I for one, love this performance.

    .::g

  • complete and utter shit

  • @set2light you're crazy, you should hear the original version, and so understand the good reviews it had at the time this solo album Keith. This was a highly acclaimed album by critics, do not criticize so quickly

  • what even weirder, this video came out 20 to the week Keith Made this son, so happy 23 year anniversary

  • Comment removed

  • maybe inappropiate, cause Waddy watchel told me this personally, but the band did no rehearsals for this gig! Mister Richards obviously wanted to let it all out at once, live! Imagine the tension in the Winos. Mister Richards plays live, he said. mister Watchel, sorry for giving this away.

  • he's always been uptight & hard with his creations, soon the Blues- smoothe & truthful will flow from his life & love. MMW Ive loved his time alone,BUT It has the depth of a local musician. Sing the Blues, Bring it to todays ear, Love Ya Keef.

  • This was the first time I ever watched SNL. I've never seen a better performance since. The tone on this one is incredible.

  • @IanLozada This is in the top 3 with Princes 2 perfomances on SNL. Electric Chair in 89 and Fury in 06

  • The fact that he is still alive is amazing to me.

  • I remember chewing Red Man and watching this in my bedroom when I was in the eighth grade. Keith Richards is a huge inspiration on the work I do with my band, "The Skanky Skunks." Check us out on Facebook if you would like! So good to hear and see this again!!! Thanks!

  • I remember sitting in my room, chewing Red Man, and watching this when I was in the eighth grade. If you like this, you might like the band I am in now: "The Skanky Skunks." You can check us out on Facebook. So cool to be able to watch this again!! :)

  • those opening chords are just pure keith.

  • This is the shit, man..

  • His guitar tone is SAVAGE

  • I wish there was a better quality version of this video somewhere. Pretty grainy and the audio is kinda warbley. The performance is amazing though!

  • what a band....steve jordans snare sounds like thunder...

  • I see Rock 'n Roll, walkin' like a man . . .

  • The absolute epitome of the Rock Star through and through. He and the stones struck such a pose. The real R&R deal. No question. Ain't nothing perfect about it.

  • @Monk4721

Couldn't have made a more true statement. Perfect in its imperfectness.

  • The absolute epitome of the Rock Star. He and the stones struck such a pose. The real R&R deal. No question.

  • gra prawie tak jak ja!

  • keith goes hey look i play with black guys aint i 1 cool english guy

  • My favorite WINOS tune!!!

  • I remember being blown away watching on TV when I was around fifteen or so. This band sounds tight as hell here.

  • "Stellar Performance" lesson for all us Guitarist's here, economy work's best.

As Keef would say "Don't Jerk off,.... Play fucker"

  • man i wish the winos would get back together.

  • Keith ``````` !

  • Keef is the man .... fukkin awesome

  • @misterpang2 Really? (is THAT awesome?)

  • I had a great clip from the '88 SNL above where Keith talks with Tom Hanks, but NBC made me pull it. Fuckers.

  • I think Keith looks really good for guy in his 60's who was supposed to be dead by the end of the 1960's.. He's great.

  • Keith richards resembles a cockroach

  • When you have been largely responsible for shaping the face of modern music for 50 years then feel free to comment on Keith Richards. If not, shut the fuck up.

  • get fucked

  • @hoarse01 I totally agree with you, but man, have Ireceived hate mails because of that. However, that does not matter, Keith deserves all the credit he can get!

  • Let's skip the authority arguments, and enjoy the music.

  • @hoarse01 - I sympathetize with your frustration with idiotic comments (of which you might consider this message just one more of the same), but...

"If you haven't been the President of the United States, STFU."

Doesn't sound so hot, does it?

That meant being denied the right to criticize Clinton, Bush, Obama, Ike, Harding, Grant, Madison, Adams, etc.

Rephrase your objection, which has merit.

  • i escaped from the Army and i was organised a car to take me away and i was a flashpoint in any case and when i sat on the backseat huuuge riff started STRUGGLE.amazing journey.Keef knows human feelings,he is a lighthouse for a human brains.

  • Those beginning riffs are amazing. I'm speechless for once... I had this cassette as a kid. I had good taste.

  • The third XPensive Winos album is long overdue. I remember watching this on tv when I was in high school. Awesome. Nice post.

  • elegant

  • is tony sanchez NOW really a fucking texan millionaire???

  • I would love to see some of these critics get up on stage and do this... Keith Richards is the soul of The Stones... if you don't get it, then stay the hell away.............

  • Whose the bass player dude, he interchanged with the drummer as he was the drummer before...he's a cool cat. I dig his style and playing style, swagger. Fits Keith.

  • -Charley Drayton - Bass

    -Steve Jordan - Drums

    -Ivan Neville - Keyboards

    -Keith Richards - Guitar, Vocals

    -Waddy Wachtel - Guitar

  • Thanks! This band is fantastic. Rare to see bands with a real Rock n Roll spirit these days.

  • what a great band these guys were...i got to see them twice....Beacon Theatre...and the Orpheum Boston...great rock n roll shows

  • @LarryDaMetFan Amen! I saw them twice too... Hollywood Palladium '88, and somewhere in Phoenix '93.

  • @LarryDaMetFan " Gimme Shelter " 2nd song . At Orpheum that was The Ball bag !!!

  • Keith ia as Rough as a dirty ass dog. All heart and sharp as mother f8ckin knife.

Great performance ! SNL - WOW- SNL should have them on again... Wine O's !!

  • there on fire here

  • Tone is OFF ?? Tone is FUCKING PERFECT !!!! Dirty and raunchy, but still clear enough to pick up the notes in each chord. At times blurring the lines between music and total cacaphony. Pure rock and roll, at it's absolute finest ...

  • kiz keef keith kaith

  • JUST what the doctor ordered! Pick at him all you want, prunes, but nobody's got the soul of this man, and it rings out so brightly in this whole experience! WOW!

  • I admit that his tone is off, but his playing is unique and as sharp as barbed wire. By the way, he has developed something called a "style" - complicated word, be lamb and google it and get back.

  • According to whom? Keith's made a career out of plying the boundary between music and noise, (where open G lies). I'll bet you Keith would say the sound produced in this video is exactly what he wanted. True, it would never fit in on a Wayne Newton record; Wayne has fine tone, you can say that about him.

  • Keith is a riff master. Who the hell cares what you think? He's always been rough on the edges. If you want to hear something professional go listen to U2. Keith is rough and dirty... it's his own style. And not good according to whom? You? He's the master of the guitar and all riffs.

  • NO!

  • los que saben...formidable Keef

  • Sweet vid. I remeber seeing this very segment of SNL back in fall of '88 - Went out and bought the album the cassette the next day - wore that out and and replaced it with a cd. Thanks for the good music Keith.

  • "it only tightens up..."

man - saw that when it aired live way back when... STILL ROCKS!

waddy and steve jordan throwing it down with keith.

  • fantastic...sound pure of guitar !

  • Sweet video. No one plays choppy chords like Keith. classic.
