  • you ever think these people are not poor. they just dont live the same capitalist life these people do

  • LOL @ giving rednecks a bad name...

    LOL @ rednecks.

  • Love what you're doing!!!

    Arriba guate!

  • 5th part - rayjk07 -

Are you saying that knowledge is liberal propaganda? Rayjk07, stop thinking stupid is smart. It will never help anyone especially the world.

    PS Isolationism, doesn't work.

  • 4th part

    4. Whose fruit are they going to pick? And from where? I wouldn't trust anything I found growing in the tropics unless I had a guide. I'm not an expert & I know they are not also.

    5. Snakes? Are you kidding? The country is full of poisonous snakes. It is not smart for these college kids to try to catch, kill, get rid of the toxins, clean, cook & eat it.

Dude, get real. They are learning from those who live there & exchanging their labor for knowledge.

Are you saying that knowledge i

  • rayjk07 - third part:

    2. You can't really go & pick firewood. First it is a tropical area. Second lots of the land is owed by others, third they are foreigners. I am sure they would get in trouble just going out & cutting down trees.

    3. Have you ever raised chickens? It actually takes money to buy them, set up a coop, buy feed, ect... Plus they do not produce eggs right away. The whole point was to not start with anything.

    4. Whose fruit are they going to pick? And from where? I wouldn't trus

  • rayjk07 - continued from below: The Bush administration had done lots of research regarding it & had set up programs in Africa to do it. Are you saying that the Bush Administration had spread liberal prop by encouraging & doing it? Please, think before you spew.

You also have not done research on where these students are doing their research.

    2. You can't really go & pick firewood. First it is a tropical area. Second lots of the land is owed by others, third they are foreigners. I am sure th

  • rayjk07 - dude, stop giving red necks a bad name & start thinking before you comment. They do not live in the woods but in a tropical forest.

    1. How is micro-finance considered liberal propaganda? The World Bank believes & uses it. They are Definitely NOT liberal. Bill & Malinda Gates Foundation encourages it & has micro-finance grants & programs. They are not liberal & have many, many employees who are not liberal. The Bush administration had done lots of research regarding it & had set up pr

  • You live in the freakin' woods. Instead of spreading liberal propaganda, take your asses into the woods and go look for some firewood. Buy a freakin' chicken. THEY MAKE EGGS. (Well, you will need 2 to start...) Pick fruit, kill a snake. Rednecks in the US do it all the time.

  • @raykj07 Haha dude read a book and learn a thing or two please before commenting. Thank you silly traveler for your responses, spot on.

  • Great work guys! Very inspiring. I agree about not scripting your video. It will seem more real and you'll get much more attention if it feels like you're genuinely speaking from your heart and experiences. It's really quite easy...just know the one main point you want to get across and let if flow.

Having lived in Panama, Honduras and rural Mexico, I understand the trials of village life. It's great you're bringing awareness of this even to those who take their cushy life for granted.

  • @mrconradhoppe no but seriously. could you please restate what you're trying to say? i read your comments and i honestly don't understand your thoughts. are you preaching hate?

  • I hope it gets less scripted. It feels very stiff. Great premise though.

  • @JayteeStarr It does get less scripted dont worry. It was a learning experience for us as well to see which ways of doing the videos were the most effective. Make sure to check out our mini-videos too (burnt beans, tootsie roll dinner, and many more to come), as none of those are scripted.

  • @Livingononedollar Yeah, I definitely like the feel of those vids better. So, are you guys still there right now, or are you releasing these vids after it's over?

  • this is really cool, and please dont take me wrong when i ask this question.. but where did the dude find hair gel????

  • @3kidsinapicklejar Hahah which one of us are you referring to? Sean, the first one to talk? If so, I see your point. I can promise you though that none of us used hair gel, thats just good old fashioned grease and oil. :)

  • How are stocks a security? Quite the opposite actually.

  • @mrconradhoppe are you high? i don't understand anything you are saying...cell phones and ipods? you forgot to take your medication...

  • Are any of you young men Christian?

I am praying for you and all the people there in the village.

    God Bless You!

    sulli002ink

  • @sulli002ink1 Does it matter what their religion is? Get out of here.

  • @sulli002ink1 i hope they are muslims just to mess up your line of thinking....don't be stupid...christianity is not the solution to poverty ....it is the problem!! as a matter of fact all religions are the problem ..they are all the same..well...some worse than others...they encourage the poor to have kids...they are more concerned with going to haven than with going to bed not hungry...they are more concerned with preaching than feeding....

  • @besamemucho5 you don't have to attack like that. you might not agree with the religion, and yes ancient chrisians did some awful things in the past which lead to extreme poverty in some areas. however, it sounds like sulli002ink1 wasn't trying to pass judgement at all but instead was just showing support for a good pause in the way that they thought was best. no need to be so harsh.

  • @mrconradhoppe why dont you stop hating and replace it with compassion! feed the hungry and clothe the naked. you may not be able to change the world but you can change someones life.

  • I am very curious, it is my understanding that many countries that we perceive as impoverished feel sorry for industrialized nations. I could see the love of family in this episode and I can only imagine that the extended family and connection to community make these people in many ways far richer than anyone who lives on 100 dollars a day in any industrialized nation that does not honor family or community.

  • @Singforyou1954 no doubt.....Words of truth

  • I think you guys are doing something that most people would ever do let alone think about doing. Most people know the word poverty, but thats it, they don't know what it means or looks like. You are there to show them. Good job.

  • @MilkDrinkerIntl They're trying to learn it. Appearantly you are dumb enough to understand that.

  • How come all your episodes are like a promo trailer, overly bombastic talk about the peoples lives, who cares that you script is well written, I've only seen clips of you standing around digging, I want to see you work and live not get preached to about how I should stop eating mcdonalds.

  • @MilkDrinkerIntl they're not complaining about their life.. since you seem to know all about what they're experiencing, why don't you stop making fun of them and let them learn what you supposedly already know =-=

  • This is really an amazing project.

  • Sell that camera and you can buy the village.

  • @raykj07 Your missing the point!

  • @ColumbiaDude22 The point is that they've lived this way for hundreds of years and haven't progressed. That should tell you something.

  • @raykj07 If you actually did your research you would find that the people there have progressed, just not the way you are used to! Just because they still live primitively shows that life does not need all the flash and glamor we are brain washed with everyday!!! I praise those people for being true to what life is supposed to be about AND I thank these young men for stepping out from their comfort zones and becoming a part of the people!!

  • Awesome gentlemen. Please keep posting vids and i'll keep learning and talking about it.

  • those seeds look weird are you sure are they natural?

  • @laverdadduele7 the seeds have a special coating to minimize disease and aid in germination

  • good job....try it in brooklyn next time....assume 4 kds, two jobs and brooklyn rent.

most people in the us don't have stocks, bank accounts or trust funds...

    great project!

  • Really amazing guys. Good job. I'll be in Guatemala soon .

  • A fascinating project. Good luck to you, and keep the videos coming.
