  • No, that color was for you, heh! I'm jk

  • Roller cam and lifters while using stock, friction having, rocker's? Are you Sh*ting me?

  • all that work and no headers.... :(

  • hill billy rebuild, ewwww

  • No engine priming before distributor install?

  • V8 for a 16 year old girl...you americans dont stop to amaze me

  • @BatGosho just the fact that they let 16 year olds drive amaze me...

  • @BatGosho My first car was a 1971 Camaro Z28 :P

  • Sealant on the head bolts man...the bolt holes run into water jackets!

  • I'll call you daddy if you build me a truck!!!!

  • its been over a year now, id like to know if she wrecked the truck or not lol too much engine for her? or did she handle it fine?

  • Hi i have question on break-in procedure for rebuilt engine. Can you please advise me the procedure.. I heard from people that we need to first start the engine, bring to operationg temp, then shut off, then replace oil, then again start the car, go for 10 minutes drive with 1/4 of accelerator with variance in RPM, then shut off, wait for 15 min, go for another drive with variance in RPM. then again cool down.. etc. My id is sivucit@gmail.com . i know you explain in detai, can u pls advise me

  • @sivucit If you just did a full rebuild with new rings & a new flat tappet cam,use a break in oil (I used joe gibbs break in oil) and prelube the engine with a drill and old distributor, do a valve adjustment prior to start up. Make sure the timeing is set right, get it running and check for leaks run for 30 min. then shut it down. Let it cool toambient temp. Then RETORQUE the heads, (I know the exhaust is in the way so remove it) follow break in oil guidlines and remove after advertised mileage

  • @FABRIC8TIONUNLIMITE1 most newer gaskets dont require you to re-torque them. But if you got the time it doesnt hurt. Its good you mentioned the break-in oil and pre lube process. Very important on a hydraulic flat tappet cam. On the first start up 20 mins at a varying 1500-2500rpms is required for proper break-in. Break-in rocker arms are pretty neat too.

  • @sivucit I would check out the BOXWRENCH videos on Youtube or just buy their DVD. Theyre pretty thorough in their videos but the full dvd will go into full details and it goes through the entire process. The particular engine in this video will only need the rings seated. The cam doesnt since its a hydraulic-roller tappet. A hydraulic flat tappet cam engine will need the cam broken-in. Which will require you to adjust the rpms to 1500 on start-up and vary them from 1500-2500 for about 20min

  • Is it gay that I didn't even noticed the pink color?

  • he poured oil on the gasket?

  • it is a hyd. cam, therefore there is little to gain with roller rockers. Where do you get them for 120 bucks?

  • @warrenhwimmer are you kidding? you can get them anywhere for that much. comp cams has them for about that... unless you buy the expensive harland and sharp roller rockers for about 175 bucks.

  • does GMC engine rocker/rods have to be adjusted like in the video?

what engine can you just bolt the rocker down without having to adjust the rocker/rod?

  • @paulsjunkcars older ford engines dont really need to be adjusted. You just torque down the rocker to a certain torque spec. A chevy will require you to tighten the rocker nut until you feel drag on the pushrod. one half-turn after that and your done. This preloads the plunger in the lifter. A service manual helps alot for the backyard mechanic right up to the pro who might forget a spec or two every now and than.

  • I am about to finish this series, but the numbering is OFF. Part 6 said to go to Part 8. Need to fix that! Great videos.

  • all the videos are out of synch?

  • why did you pour oil all over the gasket??

  • i tought that valves were suppose to run dry

  • 6:10 Did he just pour oil all over the intake gasket??? then stuck the intake on? i believe this guy to be a good mechanic but wtf?

  • 383 with those shit heads and that shit intake... stock exhaust manifolds and stock rockers? LoL

  • seriously though you buy a balanced rotating assembly and you don't buy roller rockers

  • 0 CLEARANCE on your valves is never fine you shit mechanic wow

  • @DeVoN420zz zero lash is perfect with hydraulic lifters. chevy has used it for many years

  • @boaterbil no its not fuck Chevy. METAL EXPANDS go to school then talk

  • i thought i knew enough to rebuild my own engine, after viewing this video i learned i didn't know squat!... very well put together video guys, i especially like the part where it talks about the timing marks not being TDC like everyone thinks (including me). Im ordering this DVD!

  • @ceberoonline don't order it its a hack

  • Ha, the manliest engine for the girliest girl.

  • wow in Italy if you r 16 you can drive only 125 cc bikes or minicars!

  • 383 for ur daughter she is gonna make alot of guys jealous lol shit i am lol

  • stock manifolds??? YUCK!!!

  • no headers or roller rockers i see daughter Lucky

  • why no roller rockers?

  • @ACHEESEDANISH00 not needed for a stock build.

  • @warrenhwimmer okay its not really a stock build. and if your going to spend thousands on a 383 why not spend 125 bucks and pick up 20 easy horsepower?

  • Thank you very much for taking the effort in making this video. I loved it and learned a heap of things from watching this video. Your daughter is a lucky girl to have a cool dad to do this for her.

  • Send all that money and don't put new water pump on it ,

  • How did you get your factory windage tray to clear the stroker crank? I am doing a similar build but was unable to use the factory windage tray and had to go with an aftermarket oil pan with a windage tray built it to it.

  • One badass dad man!!!!!

  • that was in 2010 and she was 16 so now shes 17 and how many months . can i date ur daughter

  • that was in 2010 and she was 16 so now shes 17 and how many months

  • amazing job! you need your own show!

  • youre fuking amazing man.but it takestime and patience

  • Why didn't you put lube on the rocker arm nuts???? All of the pressure is on them!

  • send your heads to the machine shop for what-ever

sometimes there is a sequence for your head bolts!

  • I didn't see the dizzy shaft go in and I like to use a big block oil pump.

  • I would use Permatex, Ultra-copper (sensor safe) on the intake. IMO.

  • What?? no chrome for the water pump??? Ah.

  • 383..with stock heads..nice

  • ok, for a street motor you can go "which" way turn.

you have to be more specific

  • @ratrace2p51 he obviously tightened it. moron, lol.

  • should you not have the rocker arm a few 100th away from the thing because of swelling?

  • why no sealer on head bolts

  • These tutorials are great, thanks

  • I freaking love that you used Oreilly's oil that is just great i work there and im researching how to put a motor together for when i get my block parts back from the machine shop do you also fill with this oil for break in as well ?

  • I freaking love that you used Oreilly's oil that is just great i work there and im reacharching how to put a motor together for when i get my block parts back from the machine shop do you also fill with this oil for break in as well ?

  • Thank you so much for these videos they are extremely helpful

  • NOW THATS A SWEET 16 PRESENT IF I EVER SAW ONE!!!!!!!!!!!! i wish i would have gotten something close to this...lol And good job on the build!

  • very good info. thanks

  • 6:10 poured oil into the intake

  • @ts46176 it wasnt much oil if any and it would get burnt off anyway

  • its actually called a oil sump

  • I don't understand where you got your torque specs from- for the head bolts, I just put a set of heads on a 5.7L Chevy SB350 and it called for degrees. I had to use a little degree wheel when I put the heads on....

    EXPLAIN PLEASE.

  • why didnt they put thread sealant on the head bolts?? small block chevys have head bolt holes into the water jacket.....therefore no sealant.... leaky bolt

  • why isnt there any brake in lube on the fulcrums?..that is also a friction point

  • i only use lucas oil in all my rebuilds they can put what ever they want in later but i tell them to use all lucas products

  • Awesome dad!

  • @farmerinchico Agreed!

  • you could see the smile when he said it was for his daughter... hahah that's great man =]

  • @CravinMorehead420 yea thats really great

  • @CravinMorehead420 i was thinking the same thing-he's a good dude- dwanye seems that way too, there needs to be more people in the world like that

  • Damn, does his daughter know what she's getting? Lol
