I would rather define your prosumer as simply a consumer who is internet savvy enough to know they can rate products and services online. They are not 'professional' in that they don't do it for a living.
Only consumers who check out blogs or online reviews will be influenced by your 'value chain', not all. However the influence of the online world is growing and no business cannot afford to ignore it.
I'm sorry if this comment sounds negative, but I'm irked by your unstated assumptions.
Thanks so much for taking the time to comment. I don't mind you questioning my assumptions. A prosumer is only considered 'professional' in my mind because they care enough or are motivated enough by a product or category to participate by adding valuable content on a content channel.
Also, the influence pyramid doesn't rely on consumers checking out online channels to get the word out. In fact, online digital influencers influence offline purchasing decisions.
Your 'Amateur Influencers' are only going to be 'influencing' the market if their blogs are actually read. Just because it's online does not mean it's going to be read by many people.
Your community of chocolate lovers on Ning is not 'talking about chocolate all day' especially if it's updated 'a couple of days ago' and Ning actually has very average stats.
