  • I saw Chic live in Antwerp Belgium when I was a teen. One of the circuit breakers failed and the whole band lost power except the side Nile was on. He just kept on funking and Tony joined him with his naked drums. The two of them rocked it for 20 min until power was restored. Then Bernard came back in with some sick bass!!! These guys are my heroes and can never be replaced. Their music makes me tear up every time! Love you guys!!

  • Shame on me for not knowing .. but, this sounds like that song that goes, "I never knew there was a love like this before..." Did Faith Evans sample this song?

  • @vanitysadeparis Yes Chic Cheer was sampled by Faith Evans who made a huge hit. It has been sampled many times like other CHIC songs.

  • @Frenchiic Thanks! :)

  • @Frenchiic

I could tell you that before.

Chic is so fantastic and emotionell.

How to dont have goosepamples with it?

  • justinbig, I would give my right arm to experience that........I first heard this in my last yr at senior school and practically melted - from the progressive intro of instruments and vocals,,,,WHAT A BUILD UP??? its up there with the gods for me!......TIMELESS!!!

  • Mr.Bernie Edwards is SO cold on the BASS? It's a wonder to me how he could keep from turning Super Saiyan level 4 during songs.

  • All this time, I never knew Mary J. Blige sampled that song.

  • @Codycole80

    next time do your homework.

All the best music came from the 70's and 80's

  • This is really true

  • @SPAZZOID100

  • sampled by faith...

  • juist!

  • Van Kooten en de Bie, Jacobse en van Es, used this song =)

  • Everybody spits about Gamble & Huff but forget about Rogers,Thompson,Edwards

  • I saw Chic perform this @ the "KOOLS Atlanta Jazz Festival in June 1979. Chic always did put on a great show. Chic had the "Tools & the Talent". Nile Rogers & the late Bernard Edwards were a great team. I miss those days & the music.

  • great bass player. RIP Bernard

  • I remember when i went to Giant Stadium and heard them break out with this! They actually stood on stage and waited for the crowd to stop cheering before they started to play this! Just standing on stage in their poses, waiting! At first everyone thought something was wrong, then they got busy! Man you haven't heard a crowd go as crazy as we did! Miss them big time!

  • @justinbig9 Thank's a lot for this info. You had the chance to see Classic CHIC live !

  • @justinbig9 wish I was there...great track...nice one!

  • @justinbig9: Wow, Giants stadium! When was that?

  • @tomthefunky Had to be like 78-79. I remeber it was the Kool Jazz festival and they actually gave out Kool's cigarettes in a 10 pack! Yup a 10 pack! Good music and free smokes! Now that was fun!

  • @justinbig9 This is one of their best tracks..l loved dancin to it in clubs...amazing..wish I had been there with you !!

  • @justinbig9 You are lucky would have loved to see them live

  • @gruad999 Yes i was gruad! The whole show was Chic, Sister sledge, Rick James, and some other group that i can't remember! Rick, and the Sisters were great, but to hear Chic come out in their smooth clothes and great look was just magic! They came out and stood there for about 20 minutes until the crowd calmed down, then they started to play Chic Cheer! Just magic i tell you, magic!

  • i used to love this back in 1980, nice remix

  • Hot damn, that is sexy!! It's no wonder when this stuff was being played in the clubs, people were practically doing each other right there on the dance floor! Seriously, this is music you FEEL, not just listen to.

  • @MissNovemberTuesday

Hell yeah, I remember this very well. It was an excellent time. But than again I was a little boy in those day's! d-_-b

  • I was still pretty young in 1984, so I wasn't in any clubs myself, but I have seen and heard a lot about that time and the years preceding them as well. Chic and the likes of them were the soundtrack to some wild times. I always wished I could go back and just witness it myself.

  • @MissNovemberTuesday

Well Miss Noveber, we can enjoy it now and if you get hold on a time machine, just give me a call!

  • @MissNovemberTuesday u r sooo rite this is music i miss it so much

  • So funky. RIP, Bernard.

  • That remix is hot !! I'm a seereeuss Chic fan and student. But I had not heard this until just now.

  • His music lives on in me

  • Dang,..diss is a serious bumpn' remixxxxxx!!!.....yousa yousa yousa!!...tehehehe,....

  • One of the great black groups who demonstrated originality and creativity. Rather than fucks like P Diddy or what ever his name is that ripped off grooves like this.

  • lp32862: Looks like a lot of us feel the same way you do...i was a teen in the 70s & the groups then had more substance than image. THIS group had BOTH !!!!

  • @lp32862 I could not have said it better!!!

  • Nice Version!!

    Way To Go!!

  • Hola nena, para ver videos" vintage" de chic solo tienes que teclear chic y el nombre de la cancion en google.Slds.

  • Sandersgus,gracias por la informacion!

  • Someone old enough out there tell me what it was like to go to thier show and hear Bernard Edwards laying it down? What was the vibe in the crowd like? Did this band surprise you with thier different sounds and grooves. I wished I could have seen them.

  • ZUZZISSIMAMENTE FONKYYY !!

  • This group gave you class, style and on stage they blew you away.I seen them in Cincinnati at The Kool Jazz Festival in 1979 after I had graduated high school they performed in the rain and brought the house down with GOOD TIMES for about twenty minutes. GOOD TIMES were had by all those days are gone.

  • I saw them a few times back in the late 70s and early 80s.

Bernard was a monster on stage. he played it with so much feel and smoothness!

He had a unique style of playing and it's still as fresh today, as anythning lse that you will hear.

This group was killed because the only thing people were exposed to, was their disco sound. On stage, they were amazing beyond that genre.

I miss Bernard, but thank God we have his recordings!

  • 'nard we miss you baby, you and nile, and tony were the best rhythm section the world has ever heard,i saw you guys at the glasgow apollo 1979,i will never forget it,you blew everyone away, the whole band....what a night...

  • i was blessed to see them perform back in their 'heyday' when 'Dance-Dance-Dance' landing on the number 1 spot for weeks on end!.They were at Madison Square Gardens' Felt Forum; AND THEY R.O.C.K.E.D.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!~~~~~~~~~~~ 'string sections and all!!

  • How lucky you are !!!

  • Lucy Martin , Alfa Anderson ; where are they right now . I hope they get inducted in the nRock & Roll Hall of Fame !1111!!

  • Luci Martin is still touring with Norma Jean Wright as "formely of CHIC".

Alfa Anderson is now a school director and lead vocal of Voices of Shalom.

It's totally a shame that CHIC stay out the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.

Everyday since 30 years we can listen to the influence of CHIC in pop rock soul hip hop house and electronic music.

  • Frenchiic,

you do follow nile on twitter?

    well, of course you do.

    what am i thinking of.

  • Man i remeber goin to see them in Giants stadium, and this was the first song they played. You could FEEL the stadium rockin! Damn that was great!

  • What a chance you had to see "Classic" CHIC live. Everybody who saw them at that time said they were terrific.

"New" CHIC & Nile Rodgers are touring live. The new girls are still amazing ;)

  • lovely remix!!!!

  • Aqui tudo é Chic e sensual.

    Com licença, Cafonas!

  • Mon Dieu, C'est Chic!

  • Sorry!

Não fui muito clara. Na verdade, sou super fã do CHIC. Pedi licença, aos cafonas pois só Chic - C'est Chic.

    Chic é uma referência!!!

  • pourqoui la musique des annees 70 et80est magistrale et eternelle.......

  • i tried for cheerleader at wilson jr high to this song.... and yes, i made it :)

  • This was practically an instrumental. Remember those? I used to wear this song out 'til my brother would snap at me. I wouldn't turn it off, I'd just lower the volume and eventually he'd leave then I'd turn it back up. CHIC, CHIC.

  • yes it entirely an instrumental one and most black artists and DJ's has been using it for dance, pop, rap and r&b mixes. It's like Van McCoys "Do The Hustle" one of my favorite beats.

  • amazing!

  • Why is every Chic/70's -video unavailable? Los Warner brothers' n'sisters have removed them? And why?

  • There is problem of music rights not solve between Warner and Youtube.

For the complete Warner catalog not only CHIC.

  • yes simply about copyright fight in which Warner and the rest of the music labels hates youtube because they are not making any profit at all with all their products being posted on youtube for free. If most recording labels are smart enough like Itunes they should form a partnership with Youtube and create their own sites where people can download songs like ITunes.

  • in cre i ble

    negros tenian que ser!

  • Fatman Scoop did too

  • Listen to that bass....never coming round again. Listen and learn.

  • What other songs including hip-hop have sampled this song? I know Faith Evans did, but I'm sure I've heard it in other songs.

  • simple and catchy

  • This is where Faith evans?never knew a love like this before!!

  • Yes ! It was sampled by Faith Evans for her hit "Love Like This".

  • YESSSSSS!!!!!

  • Chic..... just amazing

  • Chic etais magnifique; stylistique; groovique if there were such a word in french -- the chemitry works [ Nile Groovr; Bernard Funk and these girls and don' t forget Tony thompson on drum)

  • In french we say they were (and still are, Chic is touring live) groovissime ;)

  • Love Chic! This jam, and "Dance, Dance, Dance (Yowsah, Yowsah, Yowsah!)" were my favorites from Messrs. Edwards & Rogers.

  • chic chic... chic.... chic chic... chic... everybody struuuuuut!!!!

  • bernard got a little bass happy when mixing...

  • Now I know where P. Diddy sampled his music from for Faith Evans' song. Damn, its amazing how much shit is sampled from back in the day. Nothing is original anymore. But! At least the old skoolers are making money off of it! can't hate!

  • why be creative and make something your own? when you can just sample something thats so good that you make millions.

  • That's why I said - nothing is original anymore. Artists are not creative to make money they steal shit to make it.
