  • I wore my album out playing it. not on a junk turntable either.

  • i think i have listened to this song about 100000000000000 times and each time its still as magical as when i first listened to it

  • Sea spray blurs my vision, waves roll by so fast. Save my ship of freedom, I'm lashed helpless to the mast.

  • I sit in awe. As always.

  • music fer the mind soul and body

  • Awesome song.

  • I wore out many needles on my turntable listening to this LP when I was a kid.

  • RUSH RULES !!!! FOR 3 GUYS THEY GREAT

  • RUSH RULES !!!!

  • I went to see a band called KISS in 1974 in Seattle.... and some odd band opened for them... something called "Rush". HOLY CRAP !!!

  • @TacomaPaul You saw Rush in Seatlle in 74'? If you'd like to revisit that memory I have that entire show you were at as a playlist on my channel:)

  • @shagfish WHOA !

  • when i listen some of the new rock band,i think"RUSH"and then, the new disappear..

  • How come when I searched for this song it showed me all sorts of other suggestions. Is It that unpopular. This is one their best songs ever

  • I know a lot of people will disagree with me, but this is probably my favorite Rush song. Gonna see them live in 11 days!

  • @Chris833333 I am going to see them in Montreal the 20th can't wait.

  • @issa9 Nice! I'm sitting seventh row on wednesday in toledo. Best seats I've ever had for Rush!

  • @Chris833333 sick stuff they are awesome!!!

  • 4:42...this would scare the piss out of me if i was stoned and spacing off...

  • They lost me after grace under pressure but these old songs feed my soul like nothing else . my music until I die

  • 3 people are going to feel the caress of my steel kitchen knife!

  • the purity of this has gone.

    time capslue

  • the trouble with the maples is

    /watch?v=9Qk6gHVRzTE

  • LATAN!!

What the hell does that mean?

  • Love you Getty....Rush the best .

  • @daddynels1 You spelled his name wrong, it's Geddy. Therefore you are not a true Rush fan. I am sorry if this depresses you, but it's true.

  • This is the best Rush song. Don't give me any lip about it, please.

  • Will the idiot who gave the one dislike to this tune please stand up!

Yeah you have poor taste in music! That's ok. There is no need to defend your dislike for this tune because that would only make you out to be ignorant.

  • Signals and GUP were great. All my hard rock friends in the 80's loved those albums. It was after GUP when things went horribly array. I think if it wasn't for albums like Counterparts and Snakes and Arrows, I wouldn't have found the band again.

  • @fizbin321 I beg to differ. I don't think Mike Portnoy for instance was right when talking about the "shorter songs with more keyboards" era. I feel Rush has improved with every album. Especially Power Windows and Hold Your Fire coming after Signals and GUP. Hell yeah.. Production wise PW and HYF are like skyscrapers. Anyone in a band would love to have had ther albums sound like that. Those songs are the hardest to play live too btw. With 3 people I mean. Rush have never gone "array" only UP.

  • Chuck Norris sprained his wrist trying to play Didacts And Narpets.

  • My favourite Rush album by the proverbial country mile. I wonder how things could have turned out if this album was successful? I first heard it as part of the Archives triple album back in 1981. Classy stuff. Makes you wonder what went wrong in the 80`s? I suppose the 80`s had that effect to a lot of bands. People say Rush have remained pertinent throughout their 35 years, here they show they did their own thing and not just react to what was going on around them. Prog influences aside.

  • @Johnnywr I discovered Rush when Permanent Waves came out, was there and remember the huge success of Moving Pictures, but personally lost interest after that album. If you think of the music going on "pre-moving pictures, Rush was a very unique band. "Yes" would be a band I might compare Rush to, 1975-1979, but cannot think of many others who had that style of music at the time.

  • Fuck the Cd, Get the Record.

  • Listening to this brings back many memories as it creates new ones.

  • @sc00terful I love these guys more now than I did 25 years ago. The seamless tempo and mood changes here are mind blowing!

  • Masterpiece

  • I have this cd, fucking christ, the lyrics are amazing, i love this band.

  • @VinnieChinnici51578 Screw an Mp3 buy the Cd wav files are better son

  • I fucking love Rush!

  • @norxcontacts Makes 2 of us !

  • I got to get this CD!

  • from beginning to end, a masterpiece

  • i think justin bieber voted here

  • and yet my eyes are drawn toward the mountain in the east, facsinates and captivates and gives my heart no peace....

    so good

  • Thanks for this gift ...I really enjoyed =)

  • Hey, that Neil Peart guy, is he any good at playing the drums?

  • this album is the perfect machine to mentally travel !!! i can see lakeside park from the ship sailing to distant lands. i can see the fountain of lamneth from bacchus plateau. and who cares if i'm going bald ! but i am absolutely captivated by The Necromancer. this is my all time favorite song from RUSH !!! i can see them traveling in the forest of shadows and then see them captured by the necromancer and then the battle...led by prince by-tor, kicking his ass and sending him packing...RUSH !!!

  • There are two tapes I've worn to the Mylar in my life, Caress of Steel and Enter the Wu Tang. Go figure huh'? I remember when I replaced my Caress of Steel with another cassette ( cassettes sounded very nice and Hi-Fi beginning with Rush BTW) and it just didn't sound as good.

  • look, one person was listening to this while having an epileptic seizure and hit dislike by accident

  • dam neil is a beast.

  • Caress of Steel has to be one of the most under-rated Rush albums ever.

  • @Pictor100 I think it's probably one of their best story line albums.

  • @MoodyTubes It's funny because Rush has been making music very successfully for the past 40 years..... what have you been doing??

  • @MoodyTubes

    loltroll is lol

  • The song is about Peart's ego-death experiences (on the 10 hits of LSD he would regularly take in the 70's specifically for that purpose). His Ayn Rand songs were tributes to the importance of ego in everyday life; these were dedicted to what's beyond ego, and what's it's like to see it disolve away (into the 'ground of being').

  • RUSH, none better in all the land.

  • Caress of Steel is still my favorite RUSH album!!!

  • This whole song is... Beautiful, hardcore, organized yet crazy... All in one! Only RUSH could pull this off. This is probably my favorite song off of "Caress of Steel" -- Just amazing!

  • *** 4.13 **** the drums !!

  • Rush was definitely best in the 70's. First half of the 80's saw them getting mellower and more mainstream, and since 1985, worthless. But the first decade, golden!

  • @aspersive heard the new stuff?

  • @aspersive Rush was awesome in the '70s, got weak in the '80s, but then began to recover in the late '80s. Their '90s stuff was great. Haven't heard much since then.

  • @musicman70707 Their new stuff is the dogs bollocks!

  • @aspersive get ur ass up and go see them...seen 2 shows on this tour...they are rocking it hard........

  • @tony1238 see 2 going to one more in jersey...this freaking tour rocks

  • @execatty cool cool,,,i am planning to catch the west palm show......rush rules!

  • Man i need this album badly! Anyone no where i can get it?

  • @MegaCrusher99 TRy Rush's website. They are fairly priced and almost always have what you're looking for. Good luck. Great album!!!

  • @deeps32470 hey thanks man

  • @MegaCrusher99 The store

  • @MegaCrusher99 You probably have it by now but Amazon is always a good way to get cheap albums, usually you can get a good condition second hand one for a couple of quid or dollars if your from over the pond

  • @iceonaboy yea i do have it but thanks for the advice ill check it out for other albums

  • These guys, Led Zepp, Pink Floyd, Yes, ELP, all are good arguments in favor of cloning, especially the singers for each band. The vocals always go first.

  • I love Canada.

  • One of the best songs ever. Some of the vocals at "No one at the bridge" sort of remind me of Jimi Hendrix, only much higher :)

  • Good description I found online tonite.

"The second, and closing, epic is called The Fountain of Lamneth. This track deals with the journey many of us take in our lives - seeking something meaningful to us. But as we discover it, we realize that the journey, not so much the destination, is the key to life."

  • this picture cover is misterious, for me..... always I thinked on this...

  • around the 6 minute point is so fucking epic

  • I appreciate and love this song a lot more than when I first heard it in 1995.

  • @AragornIsStrider probably because most of today's music sucks, so this is a refreshing contrast

  • @ Trimbler00:

Actually, there's tons of good modern music out there.

But yes...99% of *popular* music of today sucks.

  • This album is truly brilliant - as in awe of it now as I ever was.

  • Another one of their great songs. Another movie never made, sad. RUSH RULZ!!!

  • I find the first minute so beautiful

  • (of this song)

  • @GalfRendun all of Rush is fantastic

  • @santyrush but not all this beautiful!

  • Fcking Amazing! Not bad for 22-23 year olds. True classic.

  • 'the mountains hold the sunrise in the prison of the night..til bursting forth from rocky chains the valley floods with light'

  • at 5:57 it sounds like geddy says bitching

  • Sky is pitching violently

  • @zackjp pitching

  • Rush is simply the best band in this planet. Period

  • Prog Rock in its purest form. This album had very little traditional song structure which is why it was not well received. Folks just were not ready to hear this.

  • MAAAN! This always floors me. I can't believe how good they were. Especially 5:25 I love those chords and timbre of geddy's voice. They're kinda like the Prog Led Zep....even though Zep were damn prog still. PROG RULES!!!!

  • Prog is the music God listens too.

  • @khyropia so true

  • This is AMAZING.

  • Man this is WICKED! He sings so well...kinda reminds me a bit of robert plant in some parts. Without Rush there wouldn't be so many awesome prog bands. Such as Dream Theater. John Petrucci is obsessed with these guys.

  • Talented young band. I was lucky enough to see them and meet them on this tour. Glad they are still around. What a ride. Thanks guys.

  • True, very true...

  • Although led zeppelin im sorry to say is my favorite band (on par with rush), Rush's lyrics have far more meaning and depth compared to Zeppelin's, who only sing about girls and drugs.

  • Great Song !!!!!!

  • I hated this song but it has some good parts in it! The Necromancer is the shit!

  • All of Caress of Steel is great.

  • I think "Caress of Steel" is a great album, "Fountain" is particularly great for a group so young, But there were a couple of lemons on it... "I think I'm going bald" is awful and "The Necromancer" is quite below par,but the rest of the album is fine.

  • sorry dude but i disagree. Going bald is rocking (although it has bad lyrics) and necromancer is an epic that makes by-tor seem like nothing (im sure im angering a lot of rush fans by saying this)

  • And all this time I thought I was the only that knew The Necromancer was indeed THE SHIT!!! Caress is my fave album by them.

  • these zanies rock and they really commence to ROLL o may the gods of Olympus have just the wee est modicum of mercy

  • Surely one of my favorite rush cds. They almost called it quits after this album was released. [i don't think they really would have]. Thank God they used their angst and went the distance with who they knew they were.

...the result was their catapulting success of 2112! (thematic with their own real life experience).

  • This old Rush is so under-rated. I recently recited some of the lyrics of this song to my sister. She thought they were great and wanted to hear the song.

  • comparing music is stupid...

it's like comparing a picasso with a van gogh... which is better?

  • Um, obviously Van Gogh...

  • the new prick hath the scent of the thorn damien he giveth, or she, unsirIUS

  • No one at the bridge! I looved this in my teenage years. Saved my life. I think it's a little cheezy now but still...sigh.

  • wow this has to be one of my favorite rush songs of all time just perfection but guys quit arguing about zeppelin vs. rush music is not a contest and I love both bands

  • This song actually freaked me out the first few times I heard it... honestly, at parts it still catches me by surprise...

  • mee too. It's absolutely fantastic. I wonder why nobody considers this a great album.

  • All of the music critics for some reason spit out the word "unfocused" when reviewing this album. It's considered by many to be one of Rush's worst, but I love it. Great album, great song.

  • so yeah, that solo during "No One At the Bridge". Yeah, umm yeah.

  • geddy lee - don't say bitching that's not a good word

  • its pitching but ya it does sound like bitching

  • lol the sky is bitching, i hate that

  • Thanks for posting this. Great music!

  • masterpiece

  • perfect song.. one of the best albuns either.

  • i believe rush are like the next led zeppelin generation!!

  • Rush is way better than Led Zeppelin.

  • just if you are canadian

  • I'm american. I still believe rush is better, and zeppelin and rush both formed in 1968 if i have my sources right.

  • you know what i say to you. FUCK YOU they are both great and plus zeppelin is the ones that started this kind of music and black sabbath i don't think rush be here if it wasn't for bands before inspiring them to do so.

  • Oh btw, i forgot to mention in my other one, just listen to the goddamn song you prick.

Plus i never said anything about Black Sabbath, they do happen to be one of my favorite bands though.

Zepplelin did have a major influence on Heavy Metal, they were practicly the ones who brought it alive, but that dont make them good, just repectfull.

Give credit to The Who and The Kinks first, because they're the ones who truley made the first Heavy Metal songs. And please give Alice Cooper some credit.

  • @3doorsdown6 Yes Zepplin and Black Sabbath are indeed important, but when it comes to Rush's existence, you might want to look at YES, another very underrated progressive group.

  • They formed around the same time as zeppelin if not in the same year

  • yet they initially had a more old school rock -kinda the blues- style, with just little bits of progressive

  • no they didn't zeppelin came out in 1968 and rush didn't come out until 1974.

  • They both were formed in 68, just Zeppelin happened to get a major record label before Rush did. Ya Rush didnt have a record until 74, but they still were fromed in the year of 68 you fucking idiot.

  • never compare Rush to Zeppelin, they have way more talent!!
