I watch so many birth videos I rarely cry anymore but I did watching your birth. You were so proud of yourself, with good reason! I have never seen a woman react this way in the hospital. Beatiful video. Congrats.
Mothers who have babies by C-section do not get Oxytocin ( the love connection). Pitocin is used but it's not the same... Long live mother and child the Oxytocin way.
@bbbbbbbjjjj Oh shut up , you think it's easy to push another human out of your body ? do you think then you'd want to wear clothes when you are giving birth in water ? why would anyone wear clothes while having a water birth seriosuly how idiotic you must be . Think of something better to say this isn't a place to play the comedian and you are not even the slightest bit funny .
Thank you so very much for sharing this. I cried too! I have never given birth and would like to know more about the water birth. May I ask you a couple questions? How long did this one last from the beginning to the end? Did water make it easier? No epidural involved? Would you recommend water birth over other types?
Although I'm a nurse at obstetrics and have seen a lot of babies being born, i cried at this one. Maybe it's because i'm a mom myself now (havent worked since my own delivery) but this was beautiful and recognizable. Thanks for sharing!
Very emotional and beautiful! This is one of the greatest things in life. Quick question: Was this your first child?? Sorry if you already told us, I must've missed it! Congrats! :)
@thefeministbreeder Wow your so amazing , my first labour was an emergency c-section and this time around I am hoping for a natural labour so your story/video is so inspiring and shows a vbac is always possible and a home one which just amazes me! great stuff ;)
please ignore any silly coments just delete them all their not even worth replying to! x
this was awesome! reminds me of my last birth, and I wouldnt have it any other way! you did awesome!! This made me cry with joy for you- really really awesome!!
Thx for sharing! Assuming no complications, I plan to deliver in water w/ midwives. My husband is still nervous about tiny babies in general, let alone the birth, but he's always been super supportive and not freaked out by the 'gross' factor that pregnancy/birth brings out. I love that about him. I just hope I can help build up his self confidence/comfort level with our newborn... any tips for this for a first-time dad? (Note: I do realize a big part of this will just come naturally/with time).
Oh that was awesome! Reminded me of my own midwife assisted birth. I found myself leaning over trying to see around Jon's arm. {{giggle}} Thanks again for sharing!!
Omg thank you so much for posting this video, I am pregnant with my first baby and I found a hospital that delivers in water like this. I wanted to find information because I would really like to deliver in water. Thank you so much your video was so helpfull
I'm sure it's ok for me to watch my wife have birth. But i'm not ready to see her POOP and HAVE BIRTH in the same moment... that would be a huge turn off.
@CplCevop If you're going to be turned off by your wife giving birth, then you guys probably have much bigger problems, and may not be ready for all the other ways children will turn your life upside down. Also, one day you might be changing your wife's diaper - or she might be changing yours. Let's hope she doesn't get "turned off" by it.
Beautiful...I was right with you when you told everyone to stop touching you!! I would NOT have wanted anyone to touch me at all, or try to listen to the baby or any of that. HANDS OFF. I mean what is the point of trying to listen. All anyone can do is wait for the baby to be born. Leave the laboring mama alone to do what she needs to do and stop interfering!! You were so strong and brilliant. Your husband was adorable constantly leaning in to look. Love it!!
reminded me alot of when I had my 2nd child... everything you said during labor in this video I'm thinking.. yep! sounds familiar! you did fantastic! <3
@samoajane the baby will take their first breath after any part of them hits the air, so it's important to keep them fully submerged until they are ready to be brought out of the water completely. It wouldn't be good for her hand or foot to come out of the water before we're ready to bring her head out completely.
@samoajane Quoted from Waterbirth Internationals website
"What prevents baby from breathing under water?
There are four main factors that prevent the baby from inhaling water at the time of birth:
1. Prostaglandin E2 levels from the placenta which cause a slowing down or stopping of the fetal breathing movements. When the baby is born and the Prostaglandin level is still high, the baby's muscles for breathing simply don't work, thus engaging the first inhibitory response.
2. Babies are born experiencing mild hypoxia or lack of oxygen. Hypoxia causes apnea and swallowing, not breathing or gasping.
3. Water is a hypotonic solution and lung fluids present in the fetus are hypertonic. So, even if water were to travel in past the larynx, they could not pass into the lungs based on the fact that hypertonic solutions are denser and prevent hypotonic solutions from merging or coming into their presence.
4. The last important inhibitory factor is the Dive Reflex and revolves around the larynx. The larynx is covered all over with chemoreceptors or taste buds. The larynx has five times as many as taste buds as the whole surface of the tongue. So, when a solution hits the back of the throat, passing the larynx, the taste buds interprets what substance it is and the glottis automatically closes and the solution is then swallowed, not inhaled.
i am 14 but i intend to become a midwife the process of birth is precious and overwhelming but it is worth it you heve a georgeous baby girl congratulations and hope for the future xxx
I am now 50 years old and missed the opportunity to see m y son born. I would like to have another child and in this same manner. It is worthy to note that I am weeping as I write this comment as the nature of the spirituality of birth is apparent to me and others, I am sure. May God bless and keep you all!
@kelseyskywalker Some of the birth tubs have heaters built in, but mine didn't. We just put the cover over it when I wasn't using it to help keep it warm, and when the temp got a little low, we just added some more hot water. I only had to do that once and it was set up for about 8 hours.
