  • Soprano soloist you are AMAZING!!....you are a Charlotte Church type timber to you voice very consistent and not over done....Baritone your solo in this is actually the solo part that should sound more vibrant than the other solos (not just because I am one) but didnt hear that here and the rest....Alto solo very shaky....choir BRILLIANT!

  • I get to sing this for the first time!!! It's so awesome!!!!

  • I sang this for the WELS National conference of Worship, Music, and the Arts. (July 2011) I was in the National Honors Choir. (All High school aged) We didn't really like the song at first but the more we sang it we loved it and we still talk about it getting stuck in our heads! :) Wonderful job, we used this version as a preference when learning on our own!

  • Great rendition. Alto solo was off a bit but still nicely done. I prefer this with the string quartet but the choral work was so nice that it really wasn't an issue.

  • were singing this

  • @jdzapdos good luck guys! :)

  • my competing choir sang this in 2009... i love hearing it while it surrounds you. the best choral experience. just gives you chills as you sing.

  • Where can I find sheet music for this piece?

  • @1thing2say4u uumm idk if you can find it in the internet but i jst bought the music!

  • I love the Bass part. It's so powerful! I sang the Bass solo and it is definitely different than i remember.

  • @Pratoreus87 i knw right! its an amazing bass part! and it sounds so good when you have a good bass section like this one that you can hurt ugh so amazing!

  • @popups46okay hahahhaah awesome! i think so too!

  • @worldgymrank awesome! i wish i was in this but they sang this when i was in 7th grade! ugh

  • it's gorgeous! but the alto solo drove me nuts. did she turn some of the sixteenth notes into grace notes on purpose or was she just off?

  • @RPtheTruth she kinda sound like she did-but this was a faster tempo! actually this is the fastest tempo ive heard of this piece yet..if you knw any other let me knw..but this is also the best performance ive heard for High School, and eve, College! lol one of New Mexico's best year! honestly but now its falling apart i think..who knws this coming January they might be really good or really bad or jst ok well find out soon! Concert is Jan. 7 at Popejoy Hall!

  • LOL I love it when audiences clap at the wrong time. Here's a clue: WATCH THE DIRECTOR

  • ha, the audience was very eager to clap ...

  • I love the piano part in this song. It's like, "Let's do this." :)

  • @MajesticTOASTER i kwn right! i actually prefer the piano than the (small) orchestra

  • In the next Assassin's Creed I play, I want to hear this song sung when I walk into a Cathedral.

  • LOL I love how everyone accidentally claps there. They did it at PMEA Districts too.

  • PMEA!

  • That was fun to sing for sure, it sounds better than I thought it did at the time too!

  • @pgrant7of10 were you in this all state choir!

  • Hey! great job your guys and just wanted to say thanks. the choir that i am in is just learning the song so your guys are really helping my learn it. :] gonna try out for the solo.. we'll see how it goes!

    but amazing job!!

  • Hey! great job your guys and just wanted to say thanks. the choir that i am in is just learning the song so your guys are really helping my learn it. :] gonna try out for the solo.. we'll see how it goes!

    but amazing job!!

  • I don't like the fact that the melismatic passages and runs are not articulated, but are slurred instead. That is a severe error in taste and/or judgement on the part of whomever directed this group. Also, it's a pity you performed this with a pianist instead of the intended strings. Other than that, you guys sounded absolutely phenomenal. What a fantastic chorus. You should be proud to produce a sound like that. Bravi.

  • @manwithabook i hate the first part of your comment! but thank you for the last part :) i understand what you're saying and its quite a given but still, like you said, a phenomenal choir and performance! not every year NM's All State Mixed does something this amazing! last time was 2005 i thought!

  • @manwithabook Oh, I don't know. I love the piano bit. It sounds absolutely gorgeous.

  • OH EM GEE!!

This is the only GOOD version I heard of this song. We are doing it in choir (college), and you did outstanding. Everything was good, and I enjoyed it. The other ones on YouTube just...sucked. Outstanding job!

  • Gah! I had the alto solo!!!

  • @sunmaidliz WAIT ARE YOU IN THIS PERFORMANCE? YOU ARE THE ONE SINGING THE ALTO PART IN THIS VIDEO?

  • I think it was 1983 in Texas. I didnt make state but region. The end is so beautiful.

    World without end, Amen.

  • @esobed1 damn i wasnt evn born then haha

  • @sexyking19

yes, Yes, YES!!! I am as old as original dirt.... but even old music never loses its power and it never will.

  • @sexyking19 lol me either

  • love this song! just got done singing for the Minnesota All-State Lutheran Choir. Amazing.

  • I LOVE the Alto solo in this song

I did this song when I was in high school. It was one of my favorits :)

  • Thank you for being a really super good recording!

  • I TOTALLY SANG IN THIS CHOIR! WOOOO!!!!! TENORS FOREVER!

  • @isingthr4iam you were in this? damn i was in 7th grade when you guys sang this i thought it was awesome but i never went to the concert-but i thought it was DAMN god performance-i wish i was their to see ugh man

  • @isingthr4iam hell yea, tenors will rule the world one day! if altos dont plague us first!. (lol jk) yea we are singing this actually, awesome piece.

  • i wish our all state sounded like this when we did it...so unprepared...but yeah good job anywhooooo!

  • @missmasquerade15 i wish New Mexico All State still sounded like this hahaha not to insult since i was in it for 3 years but jeez haha the sound jst change

  • adjuvandum me... GO TENOR!!! MAKIN SURE HE'S HEARD... 1:55

  • @Correctivemind i knw man i thought that was awesome!

  • @Correctivemind 1:05 was better.

  • Very nice dynamics.

  • By far my favorite song NWHS concert Choir has performed. :) We need Taylor Chew's beatbox in the backgrond for the remix :)

  • Wow...this gave me chills! It is a great recording. I sang this when I went to state back in 1983 in Texas...(or was it '82?) anyway, I really appreciate you posting this. One of the greatest works of art...and all for HIS glory. Baruch Hashem!

  • i have a question did Texas All State sang this or were you in a school in TX that sang this piece..if so was it by the same composer?? thank you

  • @sexyking19 Texas All State

  • I sung this song earlier this year.! Great job guys! The sopranos were a little pitchy at times and the men were sharp towards the end but GREAT job! Great HARMONY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I love it! Very powerful and Strong!....

  • I sang this song while I was at the National High School Music Institute at Northwestern University. I had the honor of being selected to sing the tenor solo. What a Great Summer!!!

  • This recording is amazing!! Great text inflection, good tone, the soprano solo is a bit "nya nya nya", but otherwise fantastic!

  • All-Region is this Saturday for SW Arkansas. I made first chair! So, pray that I beat Bass1 for the solo!! ;)

  • I got it!!! ;) yay!

  • we are singing this in choir and i pretty much love this song :)

  • The harmony in this song is BRILLIANT. My favorite part is the alto solo, myself. Not 100% sure why, but I think it's that I like just the lone voice singing out the beautiful slur throughout that entire phrase.

  • My high school chorus slaughtered this piece.

  • killian singers sang this

  • Miami killian?

Yeah I played second Violin for that part. Good memories good memories.

  • very good memories :)

  • look competing for this solo then baritone vs bass 2 hmmm

  • its weird to think that this isn't even an 8 part song, it's only 4 parts....crazy that the harmony is just SO chilling.

  • We are singing this for region, and it will most likely be a selected piece for state as well.

  • what state are you from??

  • arkansas.

  • we are doing this song too, i am in district 3

  • auditioned yesterday, got tenth chair, bass one.

  • I am so sorry for posting again but what happened to the Bass in the Solo at 1:37?? he disappeared..The entire Bass section forms a solid rumble together though. The Tenor gets to SHINE at 1:55 and the vibrato at 1:57 rocks!!!!

  • That soprano sounds like Emma Kirkby. Sorry for interrupting so much!!

  • Beautifully presented!

  • This is so original recording. You want BEYOND excellent? We performed this at the All-Eastern in 1995. I swear but not to sound corny but I actually started crying onstage when I was singing this.

  • To start I Love the contrast in the start... different from what I've ever heard it performed.. the Bass solo could have been more assertive! I LOVE the alto solo (my fav. part of song) could have been more assertive!! Dynamics distinguished very clearly! I would have like the tenors to cresendo more on end

  • That song is unbelievably fun to sing! And lol at the audience getting PWNT by clapping too early =P

  • this is beast !!!! my choir did this song almost the same way , its amazing, gives me chills listening to it

  • i abosolutely adore this version of the song it is amazing and the soloist strong choral performers omg amazing

  • abosolutely amazing!
