When we add 2,300 years to the date of Herodotus' visit (450 B.C.) we get 2750 B.C. As it turns out, this falls exactly in the range given to us by Bikai's archaeological evidence.
THE BEGINNING POINT OF TYRE AND BYBLOS:
What we have seen, then, are a founding date for Byblos of ca. 6000 B.C. and for Tyre of ca. 2750 B.C. Both of these times occur prior to any of the proposed dates for the origin of the Phoenician empire (2500--1000 B.C.).
