  • to get the worm's eye view. I question his agenda in downplaying the potential power of microcredit. The World Bank gives paultry amounts of their investment potential to microcredit, which they say they applaud. If their true goal was to alleviate poverty, they would give it far more support. Everyone should read Confessions of an Economic hitman to see what the real goals of a lot of these Aid programs are really about.

  • I spent 6 months with Grameen Bank and saw large numbers of success stories. It takes the borrowers an average of 5 years to get out of pverty, but it works for a majority.  Plus they teach women money management and make them put money into their savings accounts every week. This has also led to the empowerment of women, not to mention the 700,000 women who now have the titles to their homes due to housing loan requirements.
