I think holy wars is one of the most difficult songs to play on a guitar. I haven't heard a single solo on youtube which even comes close to the original. Even Dave Mustaine and gang are not so accurate when they play it live.

nice work with the solo man.. im not sure but i think that youre the only man on youtube who plays it right... i always have had problems with that solo... you know all the tabs on the internet are wrong and even i dont like learning songs from tabs... i can play all the riffs (it helped me to watch mustaine play it in concert..) and even the martys solos are simple (mostly youre just copying the background chords with arpeggios)... but daves solo is pretty hard... how did you learn it?

@6Skel6ton6 Thanks! Though, I am definitely not playing it "correctly" here. The basic idea is there, but it's not note for note and a few of the patterns are backwards here.

With Dave's stuff, and Marty's for that matter, it's mostly about being familiar with their technique/approach. Dave has a very raw play style and it's easier to mimic & more forgiving if you miss a few notes. Marty's is very deliberate and usually if you miss something it's VERY noticeable.

Hi mate, great cover. I've been try to play this song, well, I can but it's hard for me, because of my picking hand. How do you pick with ease on this song? Is there a technique?

@MinecraftJT Thank you. As for technique, it's just a matter of relaxing while playing. Sometimes that sounds easier than it really is. Some people have a natural tendency to tense up their muscles when playing fast. If that's happening, practice the riffs at a slower tempo where you can play them correctly/cleanly while also focusing on keeping your hands/arms relaxed. Gradually build up speed as it gets easier.

@MinecraftJT No problem. They're pretty easy to play sitting down once you get used to it. Can be a little strange at first if you're not used to sitting with the guitar in the "classical position".

I got some questions about the guitar picks, Im trying to learn this song and having a lot of difficulties (tech diff btw) but I would like to know if guitar picks help...

I am using a 3.0mm stagg as I think it is very good and solid to palm mute and fast riffs on heavy strings, but I mess a lot in the lower strings for solo I prefer like a jazz III and fender heavy... What is your advices about it?

@ttorquati Thanks! As for guitar picks... it's pretty much a personal preference. Whatever feels most comfortable for you is what you should use. For me, I prefer a medium .73mm or .88mm tortex gauge pick. They tend to give a little bit with the 10-52 gauge strings making it easier for me to get a good feel when alternate picking fast. I find I also have more control with a smaller pick as opposed to something really heavy.
