when i say music i don't particularly refer to this scene but the soundtrack of the whole movie. It should be sad and emotionally touching but it never made me feel that way. Especially in the last scene the music is so poor as well as richard's performance that should be a scene to make one cry but it's for far from that
i just saw about the ending half of the movie nad i have to say that it doesn't seem so realistic. Richard's perfomance is poor and sometimes exagerated as well. In the last scene where he "wants to fly" i happens way too fast he doesn't really show up to the supposed depression he is feeling. Very disappointing movie, and the music is so poor as well.
i was flipping through the channels yesterday n i saw that the movie was gonna start in a few minutes.. i never anticipated it to be that good.. it was AMAZING... partly because of richard gere perfermance.. he's a great actor. it's 1 of my all-time favorite movies
A brilliant, heart-breaking, insightful movie. Richard Gere played this part exceptionally well.
My Dad was bipolar; very intelligent, very frustrating, at times terrifying, at times absolutely brilliant. He broke my heart again and again. However, he also taught me many things; patience, how to love unconditionally and how to appreciate every single moment, of every single day.
Do those suffering from bipolar really get this way when they experience the extreme happiness part? Do they really get so happy to the point of interrupting other people's activities? That doesn't sound realistic. When I or others take XTC, I have never seen people act out like this......and nothing can match the buz of a XTC euphoria.
Stick to your XTC and hopefully fry your brain as it is less painfully than having to put up with the effects of the highs and lows of Bi-polar. I know this is harsh yet I plea for you to google the disorder. Your DRUG changes your mood. Our neuro-chemistry changes our and when can't control the "dose". Wish I could.
But do you get so uncontrollable when you are happy and experiencing the highs of bi-polarism? I've just never heard of happyness induced psychosis which seems like this is what the guy goes through.
I don't take xtc very often, if not ever anymore. But it certainly doesn't fry your brain....it's neuro-toxic but that's not the same thing as frying your brain lol.
I just saw this film on television and I`v got to say that I also liked it a lot. I agree that Gere is handsome and very very charming and I enjoyed his those parts a lot where he had that so called euforia or sth. It was so funny. I liked the roofs and sun as well, but in the whole this illness is a bit scaring.
I saw this movie last week. Richard Gere was perfect for the part: Intelligent, handsome, charming, and bipolar! A good movie for those who have experienced depression or for those who have loved ones who suffer from it.
i have this movie, and i decided to upload this part, but there are many scenes that i liked, for example when he buys a lot ot pianos..escuse my english (i'm from mexico)..regards:D
Is the sound meant to be like that?

The song in the background is Ludwic van Beethoven, Ode to joy, the European Union anthem. It is a great song, I love it!

Could someone please tell me what is the name of the song hearing in the background?
I think Mr Jones is a fantastic character.
I think many people would like to be him.
