P2: MY best way) is to stick it is water with dry ice or liquid nitrogen for 1-2 hours (hours because I have gold fish and that won't kill them unless you leave them inthere for over long period of time) um but that's best, it shuts the system down so fast that the fish doesn't know what happened to it, I have to put down a mouse one time and we did the same thing, um the liquid nitrogen is better though works way way way faster than dry ice in water
P1: Well, angels can't get eggbound (no matter WHAT the experts say) their eggs are like little things of jelly (kinda like frogs eggs) but dropsy is caused by organ failure (its a fishes body's way of saying hey, something in me is shutting down and fast) um, it's not the best way, but I found what works for me best (again not the best way for everyone by it's
Generally, if your fish just have white spots on their tails and they are acting healthy, there is no need to worry. It is just an external parasite and if you are doing great with water changes and diet, they may just live with the parasite as long as their immune system stays strong, The problem arises when they get weak and it progresses to an internal infection. I woulld check my water for ammonia and nitrites, first at the petstore, becuase helathy fish don't die from white spots soon.
I just got some fish about...three days ago and woke up this morning and one of them had died-I originally had four. I read up this morning on Dropsy and Ich. Question: If I see white spots on the fish's tail, does that mean it's ich? Because I don't want to buy the treatment and have it not be ich, you know what I mean? I don't want to lose another fish so I want to treat it. Its just on the tail not on any other part of his/her body.
@foreverrocking211 This requires urgent treatment, as you have lost one fish already; unfortunately I can't really see the fish, so i cannot see the symptoms for myslelf It's really hard that way. I do know if it is a new tank and the fish are new it may be ammonia in the water. White spots can be ich or some other bacterial or fungus, so it is generally hit or miss in this case. I might try parasite clear by Jungle. It clears up a broad spoectrum of parasites and germs, mostly external.
@justachoirgirl Its hard to tell because I know that usually the spots are all over the body and the fish that I suspect has Ich is mostly white. Its just on the tail I can see it. But I will do what I can to get treatment for it
I know this is kinda gross but like, I go fishing a lot and as soon as a catch a fish, i lay him down on the ground and just kinda cut his head off real fast... it dies instantly, maybe you can try that next time instead of freezing it. Sorry to hear about your fish and the situation. personally I think that freezing them is just a slow painful death :(
the best way that I have found to humainely euthanize a fish is to obtain clove oil, and then when the fish is calm and basically brain dead, then you can put it in the freezer to make sure that its all the way dead. If you don't then they can later come too and you will just have to redo the entire process. DO NOT BOIL, its not humane and its not a quick method, it hurts them.
It good that you don't want them to suffer, I wish I could have gotten to you sooner to tell you this.
@FiestyCat86 Putting the fish in the freeser will make ice fron on its inner tissue so it would be cruelto do so!Just leave the fish in the clove oil and it wikk die on its own.
I realize that putting a LIVE fish in the freezer is not humane, why do you think I said, when its brain dead. The reason you would freeze it is to ensure death, not to cause it. Sometimes the clove oil will cause a fish to pass out, but will not kill it. Thus the fish has the potential to revive, which I deem cruel. And the freezer is the preferred method of ensuring death, as opposed to bashing it it with a hammer, or decapitation, which are also excepted manners of euthanasia for a fish.

Next time use Nail Polish remover, it worked for me, in about 2 minutes it died. I had to do it to one of my fishes.
