Right, so, I have given up my ballet and instead I am askin my parents if i can go horseriding where it is £17 PER HOUR which is really cheap, i have explained 2 them how cheap it is and why horse riding is fun and good 4 u, but they still won't listen, plz mail me any tips to convince them !!!!
I've been wanting to try this with the horse I'm leasing, and while he'd stand there for me he is SO tall. I think he is at least 15 hands high, perhaps even 16...I'm only 5 feet tall too, which makes it harder lol. I don't want to kick him accidentally too....I'd feel so bad! :/
@Kitsunegirl1212 I was like that when I was first leaning to vault =P (my boy is only 14.1 tho, he is a bit of a chunky monkey mind) its not elegant at first but its gets easier, I found I just bounced off his side a lot XD
@IHateHorseSlaughter1 The mounting block would defeat the purpose of teaching us how to get on from the ground, and she was rather dressed for taking her horse swimming.
This might have been said before and your horse seems very well behaved but what if he steps on your foot when you've got no shoes on? Your toes will get crushed, appropriate footwear is quite a safety issue too.
to make it easier just do what i do its called a Indian swing up you basically do the same but in stead of just hanging there throw ur body softly and smoothly onto ur horses back
@vivienleigh1097 Put a cake on the other side of the horse, put something on either side of the horse and tell them they need to jump up to get the cake.
It's actually easier to grip the horse with your thighs if you're wearing shorts. If you're a beginner though, or you don't know the horse very well, you should probably wear jeans. Obviously this girl knows what she's doing and she knows the horse very well so it's okay for her to wear shorts to help her grip. =)
@CookieCrumbs31 Because it looks bad, and it's just my opinion. I'm sure she's a fantastic rider :3 i just don't agree with booty shorts. Chaps all the way.
@VanillaSkyPoet there aint nothing wrong with her shorts , I have ridden bareback at a gallop in shorts or even in a saddle with stirrups in shorts ! sure look pro for the show and things , jeans are great jodhpurs are okay too Looks really don't matter to me just as long as its comfortable for you and your horse and you and your pony are having fun :D
You did a great job demonstrating this and yes it does take some practice but very doable. I do want to point out that you CAN do this from both sides of your horse if they are use to you mounting/dismounting from both sides but you have to use common sense any time you are close to any horse. It's very cool when your horse helps you with their neck to! Maybe next video you can demonstrate this? Gives you something else to work on with your beautiful girl. GREAT job!
My pony I ride doesnt like my hopping on from the ground when i even hold her mane and act like im about to get on she kicks? Do you know why she does this, is there any way to stop it?
@LadyJennivieve I really dont know I only ride her but she was sold yesterday so.. :'( oh well get to ride a dressage horse! yay! haha I love your pony by the way <3
@sabbuddy1 dont worry, mine doesnt stand still either!lol i tried mouting bareback and she started walking back to the stables with me half on her!lol what is your horse's name?mine's name is georgia! :)
beautiful horse! whats she/he called i have a pony that i share wiv a friend called Pippa ( thats the ponies name) lol i'll try this lol! the shes really bony lol!
I just take a massive run up and chuck myself onto my pony's back. xD And no it doesn't hurt her because she just stands there looking pretty relaxed. xD
@LadyJennivieve Yes, actually. I didn't know that until this year when I was looking up some stuff for a game that we could do at the horse camp (ran at the barn I ride at, I was helping run it) and found that out.
the only thing is as long as you condition your horse you can get on from either side... so you don't have to get on from the left it's just the side most people get on from... like your horse we have had a few Walkers they have a really nice temperment.
I'd have pissed myself laughing at your stupidity if she(?) had stood on your foot without shoes on. Badly bruised would have been the nice outcome, completely crushed or at least broken is more likely.
@carolinacowgirl95 my neighbor's horse is a TWH so I can answer that! I ride him bareback all the time and I do say it feels different then riding the arabian I usually ride. But after walking, loping and possibly galloping with no saddle on with him you get used to it. Hope this helped!
gezzzz people whats with all the rude commets??? if you cant jump high or your horse is to tall for you to jump on that way then find a different way!!! theres a millon ways to get on your horse, this way works for me =) thanks for sharing
@Jonnizzie98 its just one way. There are probably thousands of ways to get on. There isn't a specific way. It obviously doesnt hurt or stress the horse so its fine.
Hey Audrey, My horse is about 16 1 amost 17 hands, how tall is Lilly becuse I have tried to get on Kid (my horse) bareback and I have fail every time. Have any pointers?
Just a suggestion, maybe you should hold your horses mane ever so slightly higher, most horses are quite sensitive to the force on the lower part of their mane (by their withers) :-)
Dont know how on earth you can do that!! I find it impossible xD haha lol!
@posspig obviously shes done this before and not all horse will get scared. You should use your common sense, if you know your horse spooks at things around their rump dont do it. Not all horses do.
i have a tennessee walker hes 8 years old and i fell off of him not to long ago and his name is mister and he is really spooky i mean everything he sees he scared of it ive tried desentitizing him and it didnt work and ive done it alot what do u think i should do
My 4 yr old gelding is very sensitive, and he is a little over 14 hands and i am 5 ft tall and i have issues getting on. I want to try this but i don't want to hurt him...Is there another way other than standing on a fence, doing that, and jumping up on my stomach and swinging my leg over? I have people hold my shin and they push me up, but i can't get on alone! I'll try this though and see how it goes!
Beautiful horse... Gud idea if you have a calm horse but mine is a very excitable jumper so when i tried this he took off with me half on and cantered half way down the arena with me hanging on!
@TheDruidess I know how it is. I can't have a horse either but I take lessons and show. If you get something good worked out it can be considerably less expensive than actually owning a horse. Happy trails! :D
yeah... at th part were u go 1..2...3 thats what i cant do, i eather kick him in the side or hit my shin on his hip bone witch leaves nasty broses, just sayin. But i can pull my self up over his back like from the side and i wanta try to jump over his butt, but i dont think he would be very happy with me if i failed or even if i did it right.
@bryergurl09 you could try putting a bareback pad on your horse maybe with a very thick pad underneath it. You could also try climbing on a fence or something if you don't have access to a mounting block.
Do you have another way I could get on without a mountain block? I have a 24 year old Arab and he's kind of bony(we have trouble keeping weight on him) and I don't want to hurt him or his back(im a bit overweight) any ideas? thnks(:
@BreyerGurl09 this is gonna sound gross... What i did was get by his side and jump up lik ur gonna lay over him, and hook my arm on his back bone and pull my self up that way... He didnt seem to be in pain or anything but i was like 70lbs then so idk and PS it didnt do any damage he is fatish now was theres nothing wrong with his back and the weight thing, try that stuff that gets rid of the sand in them cuz that did it for my horse but he is 16.(he eats beat pulp, oats, and safe choce now)
@1233Maya Haha, that doesn't sound gross! Okay, yes, my horse eats beat pulp as well with a scoop of grain twice a day, with a bunch of hay! Thanks a bunch for the advice!(:
@BreyerGurl09 also if its hard to make him gain musle, troting and doing barrels is helpful, I dont mean like runing barrels, when me and my arab started doing barrels he got a bit fater and more musle... i wanta run barrels with him so we practice pretty hard but i dont think u'd have to practice hard to see results,(if you ride english then u could like trot up to the jump and it helps if they over jump... my horse does soo if ur horse doesnt idk how to make a horse over jump....)
@1233Maya Yeah, I'm working with trying to keep my leg still in a trot, and I noticed he can go longer since we started(: Haha, he's so used to jumps, he literally 'hops' over it, Ill try the barrels:) Thanks
@BreyerGurl09 k and the owner of the barns boyfriend says if you trot for like 30min at a jog or almost canter it doesnt matter, they will get a huge butt and troting in circles helps their shoulders... my horse will trot for 30 min but he hates troting in circles so he has i pretty nice butt, for an arab, and then a good belly and itty-bitty shoulders lol and a thick neck then a tiny arab head... i tell people god got bord with all the perfet bodyed horses so he made him lol
@1233Maya Haha, Im not sure if I'll rush into that just yet, he's used to just trotting at a minimum of 5 minutes hhaha he s an old guy and runs out of energy when i'm on him(+ a western saddle) but thanks(: hahaha yeah, im hoping hell gain weight in the winter too, he used to be all filled out, but recently weight has been tough to keep on him..I love their arab dished faces(: its the best (except for the ahmazing personality) Thanks:))
im having alot of trouble getting on bareback, my horse 17.1 hands and 4 11 and nothing seems to be working for me. im trying to teach the horse to lay down, do you think you could make a video like that?
@13horselvr im a black 12 year old boy horse rider (i know very uncommon) but your video's help ALOT. i practise mounting bareback now on my pony "dude"(his name is dude) so keep making more videos YOU ROCK GIRL
@MissPatra219 Don't be jealous. If you have a cute rear, you can show it off a little. Her shorts cover her up fine. No need to be hating on how others dress. It sounds rather rude and judgemental. Just a tip, for everyday life.
@RustedLocket i HAVE A BIG JUNK , CAN I SHOW IT OFF A LITTLE BIT ? IF YOUR BOY FREIND HAD ASKED YOU THIS YOU WOULD HAVE DEFINITELY SAID NO. GROW UP AND BE REALISTIC, THAT IS NOT MODESTY TO SHOW YOUR ASS
@ThisWorldABitch Sweetpea, there is no reason to turn this into an argument. My god, the internet is a brutal world. She is not "showing her ass" For goodness sakes, watch the video. I see no "ass" shown. Just a horse and a girl wearing shorts. Like I said, don't be so rude and judgmental. If you are going to turn that into a logical fallacy, you need to grow up and be realistic. Everybody should be comfortable with their bodies. I am sorry if you are not. I truly am.
@MissPatra219 i dont think this is relevant to the video :L she has a nice figure which i would gladly have! and this video is about the horse :) just sayinn
kool but i dont like that u said tht you always wanta get on the left side of the horse... I get on both sides so my horse is ok with both. I think you should be able to mount from anyside and have you horse stand there... now if i tryed to jump over his butt yeah then we would have a problem but i can do anything to him but i have to be careful with where my feet land and not to sling the reins around cuz if he thinks i want him to go or im gonna hit him he will eather walk or trot away.
@1233Maya (he was abused so i understand if he moves because he thinks ima hit him and PS i hit him one time with a soft rope to see if he would be ok with it and when someone when to hand it to me he started shakeing)
i tried this and i failed BIG TIME!!! lol so i think i pulled myself up with too much force and i kinda flew over the other side BUT I LANDED ON MY FEET!!! If you would call the part where your nose is on your head a foot then yup i landed on my feet :L
i love your videos Audry .. i was wondering if you can demonstrate bareback on a pony?... iv always wanted to do that but i still need to get better in the saddle. thanx
@KnG1Dakota It would if you were in gymnastics or something. haha I had a 17 hand mare and I could do this and I'm 5' 8". So basicly its pretty much the same. :) It just takes a ton of strength and at first a TON of flexibility.
the first time i tried this was a couple of weeks ago. it was on an 13 hand pony, at my riding lesson(im very good)! after three tries, i was able easily! nice trick!
My horse would bite my ass if i did that. he has been playing up when i get on him with a saddle on and walks away and trys to bite me can you help please?
thanks!!!! this helped alot!!

Beautiful horse... Gud idea if you have a calm horse but mine is a very excitable jumper so when i tried this he took off with me half on and cantered half way down the arena with me hanging on!
DontTellMe93 2 months ago
Perfect (it actually works!) but make sure you horse doesnt mind cause sometimes they can be like OMG NO NO NO AHHHHH hahaha i know from experience
horseLove322 2 months ago
@TheDruidess I know how it is. I can't have a horse either but I take lessons and show. If you get something good worked out it can be considerably less expensive than actually owning a horse. Happy trails! :D

@MissPatra219 her shorts are fine, and they're not too low or short, wow.

How would one train their horse to accept being mounted this way? Is it a lot of trial and error, or is there a way to prepare your horse for this?

LifeWithMyHorse10 2 months ago
That was brilliant! U get on ur horse with such ease! Well done! :)
weeny87 3 months ago
yeah... at th part were u go 1..2...3 thats what i cant do, i eather kick him in the side or hit my shin on his hip bone witch leaves nasty broses, just sayin. But i can pull my self up over his back like from the side and i wanta try to jump over his butt, but i dont think he would be very happy with me if i failed or even if i did it right.
1233Maya 3 months ago
Hey audrey are you single?(:
benitez1331 3 months ago
That's much easier than what I've been doing, which was climbing on like I was climbing over a wall
doctorfeelucky 3 months ago
@bryergurl09 you could try putting a bareback pad on your horse maybe with a very thick pad underneath it. You could also try climbing on a fence or something if you don't have access to a mounting block.
earlrocks96 3 months ago
Do you have another way I could get on without a mountain block? I have a 24 year old Arab and he's kind of bony(we have trouble keeping weight on him) and I don't want to hurt him or his back(im a bit overweight) any ideas? thnks(:
BreyerGurl09 3 months ago
@BreyerGurl09 this is gonna sound gross... What i did was get by his side and jump up lik ur gonna lay over him, and hook my arm on his back bone and pull my self up that way... He didnt seem to be in pain or anything but i was like 70lbs then so idk and PS it didnt do any damage he is fatish now was theres nothing wrong with his back and the weight thing, try that stuff that gets rid of the sand in them cuz that did it for my horse but he is 16.(he eats beat pulp, oats, and safe choce now)
1233Maya 3 months ago
@1233Maya Haha, that doesn't sound gross! Okay, yes, my horse eats beat pulp as well with a scoop of grain twice a day, with a bunch of hay! Thanks a bunch for the advice!(:
BreyerGurl09 3 months ago
@BreyerGurl09 also if its hard to make him gain musle, troting and doing barrels is helpful, I dont mean like runing barrels, when me and my arab started doing barrels he got a bit fater and more musle... i wanta run barrels with him so we practice pretty hard but i dont think u'd have to practice hard to see results,(if you ride english then u could like trot up to the jump and it helps if they over jump... my horse does soo if ur horse doesnt idk how to make a horse over jump....)
1233Maya 3 months ago
@1233Maya Yeah, I'm working with trying to keep my leg still in a trot, and I noticed he can go longer since we started(: Haha, he's so used to jumps, he literally 'hops' over it, Ill try the barrels:) Thanks
BreyerGurl09 2 months ago
@BreyerGurl09 k and the owner of the barns boyfriend says if you trot for like 30min at a jog or almost canter it doesnt matter, they will get a huge butt and troting in circles helps their shoulders... my horse will trot for 30 min but he hates troting in circles so he has i pretty nice butt, for an arab, and then a good belly and itty-bitty shoulders lol and a thick neck then a tiny arab head... i tell people god got bord with all the perfet bodyed horses so he made him lol
1233Maya 2 months ago
@1233Maya Haha, Im not sure if I'll rush into that just yet, he's used to just trotting at a minimum of 5 minutes hhaha he s an old guy and runs out of energy when i'm on him(+ a western saddle) but thanks(: hahaha yeah, im hoping hell gain weight in the winter too, he used to be all filled out, but recently weight has been tough to keep on him..I love their arab dished faces(: its the best (except for the ahmazing personality) Thanks:))

@13horselvr im a black 12 year old boy horse rider (i know very uncommon) but your video's help ALOT. i practise mounting bareback now on my pony "dude"(his name is dude) so keep making more videos YOU ROCK GIRL
jerryiguanaman 2 months ago
@MissPatra219 why does it matter what she's wearing? lol
horseracer676 2 months ago
@MissPatra219 Don't be jealous. If you have a cute rear, you can show it off a little. Her shorts cover her up fine. No need to be hating on how others dress. It sounds rather rude and judgemental. Just a tip, for everyday life.
RustedLocket 2 months ago 48
@RustedLocket i HAVE A BIG JUNK , CAN I SHOW IT OFF A LITTLE BIT ? IF YOUR BOY FREIND HAD ASKED YOU THIS YOU WOULD HAVE DEFINITELY SAID NO. GROW UP AND BE REALISTIC, THAT IS NOT MODESTY TO SHOW YOUR ASS
ThisWorldABitch 1 month ago
@ThisWorldABitch Sweetpea, there is no reason to turn this into an argument. My god, the internet is a brutal world. She is not "showing her ass" For goodness sakes, watch the video. I see no "ass" shown. Just a horse and a girl wearing shorts. Like I said, don't be so rude and judgmental. If you are going to turn that into a logical fallacy, you need to grow up and be realistic. Everybody should be comfortable with their bodies. I am sorry if you are not. I truly am.
RustedLocket 1 month ago
@MissPatra219 i dont think this is relevant to the video :L she has a nice figure which i would gladly have! and this video is about the horse :) just sayinn
PonyMadGirl94 2 months ago
@MissPatra219 her shorts are fine. You're not her mother, so don't tell her what she can and can't wear.
LopeForestLope 1 month ago
kool but i dont like that u said tht you always wanta get on the left side of the horse...
1233Maya 3 months ago
@1233Maya (he was abused so i understand if he moves because he thinks ima hit him and PS i hit him one time with a soft rope to see if he would be ok with it and when someone when to hand it to me he started shakeing)
1233Maya 3 months ago
i tried this and i failed BIG TIME!!! lol so i think i pulled myself up with too much force and i kinda flew over the other side BUT I LANDED ON MY FEET!!! If you would call the part where your nose is on your head a foot then yup i landed on my feet :L

i love your videos Audry .. i was wondering if you can demonstrate bareback on a pony?... iv always wanted to do that but i still need to get better in the saddle. thanx
Ponygirlxoxo 3 months ago
this wouldnt work for me. my horse is kinda fat and is 16.1hn and im like 5'2 XD
KnG1Dakota 3 months ago
@KnG1Dakota It would if you were in gymnastics or something. haha I had a 17 hand mare and I could do this and I'm 5' 8". So basicly its pretty much the same. :) It just takes a ton of strength and at first a TON of flexibility.
countrybabe561 3 months ago
I will probably whack my horse's side, cause I'm 5 ft and she's 16 hands :)
RuthandKenzie 3 months ago
the first time i tried this was a couple of weeks ago. it was on an 13 hand pony, at my riding lesson(im very good)! after three tries, i was able easily! nice trick!
