I ran into Giant Haystacks in about 1982 when I was 12- he was sitting beside me in the airport waiting to get a flight back to Manchester. In RL and close-up he was fucking huge- video doesn't do justice to the size of the man.

After a while- when people worked out who it was and started a crowd- he ended up signing autographs and chatting with fans. My abiding memory is of a huge man who was pleasant, polite and approachable- and quite charming too.

I saw Haystacks wrestle in in the early / mid 90s. He walked into the hall and there was an instant awed hush. Not only was he enormous, but he had a real presence about him as well. A great wrestler and sorely missed.

Ive seen Haystacks 2 times,and he looked about 6'8'' but there are Photos of him fighting Andre the giant in 1980 and they look about the same height ,it's the only time ive seen anyone make Andre look thin,also Paul white has got much bigger boots on and Haystacks was ner 50 in 1996 and had lost an 1' or so by then,
