  • NASTYYYYYYY!!!!!!!

  • I used to be able to throw 105, but then i took an arrow to the knee.

  • im gonna name my kid aroldis

  • Now imagine when you stand in front of 120 mph. I would kill any catcher

  • Wow... that throw was a little scary... as a catcher, you never want a 105 fastball screaming over your head... also known as death to shoulder.

  • was this filmed in never neverland by peter pan??

  • si palomo tu la puede baja a 95 pero a 105 no i ese montage jablador

  • so effortless and efficient

  • thats like 85 mph haha..wtf.

  • seems slow to me

  • Holy crap I can now say i've pitched off the same mound as Aroldis Chapman!

  • Also just imagine if albert pujols hit 105 square under the letters right over the plate, and i mean he gets all of it, how far would it go? Lol

  • @34rednick34 Pujols wouldn't touch 105 just under the letters. If it was above his thighs, he'd have no chance.

  • I could hit 97 98, with good location and a nasty 1 to 7 curve, when i drop down submarine i get like 3 feet of movement just so dirty, but i didnt make my highschool varsity team because i wasnt what was best for the team. Its been 3 years since ive played and my velocity is much slower, im sad now, everyday.

  • @34rednick34 no u couldnt....

  • @34rednick34 You didn't make your varsity team because 97, 98 wasn't what was best for the team? Maybe your fertile imagination is what wasn't needed.

  • youtube.com/watch?v=58rMGW8c1QE

  • I went to high school with Steven Shell who pitched for the Nationals for a little while. He only threw 96 MPH at that time and catching him was ridiculous. If you caught one on the palm it felt like you're hand was dying. I don't want to even imagine catching a ball that's 105 MPH. It's nuts. I don't know if any of you have batted against or caught a guy throwing 90+ but the sound the ball makes as it's getting close it crazy.

  • @Broguyman I was a catcher in H.S, and caught a pitcher that threw 90-92 MPH, the ball does have that certain sound, i found out that wearing a batting glove helped out a lot, and was a must when i caught for him. Whats even move crazy is, get crossed up, with a guy that is throwing that hard.

  • Unique leg kick.

  • Press #1 then imagine the catcher just saying.. "Nasty son-of-a-b*tch", as he throws back! xD

  • I don't care if it's 103 or 105, or if it's a record or not, why would people be complaining? It's still pretty fucking fast to me.

  • I'd rock that!

  • he's just going to get better, that's the best part. I love watching this guy pitch.

  • Fuckin Cuban Missile Crisis

  • mechanics arent everything..hell, you could learn to be a great pitcher and not even know by mlb standards that you're not doing every little thing correctly..just do what feels right.

  • he is gonna end up just like Joel Zumya did because of how bad his windup is

  • Hes so freaking rhythmic. Its not his mechanics. its his rhythm. Walter Johnson threw harder than anybody whos probably ever played. He looks like hes mechanics are aweful. But hes RHYTHMIC. Rhythm>Picture Perfect Mechanics anyday

  • @Assaulterkid haha i agree with you 150%. i was gonna say the same thing

  • @PickedFirst4Kickball You know how you can tell? hes not throwing 105 MPH in this video, but watch him in game... hes mechanics go way faster than they do in this video... and so does his pitch.

  • easy gas

  • His 2 seam is nasty and really fast

  • dude you take steraoids your a lefty pitcher throwin 105 yea ok

  • jeez, you gettin drafted for the majors yet?! lol :)

  • pfft, remake this vid, he's cracked 106 by now

  • RIP CATCHER"S HAND

  • id be fuckin scared to catch him

  • Producer's Update #2 of 2 - We look forward to hitting 200,000 views !

Congrats to the catcher, who will be playing at UMass and his hand is fine.

Is he balking? Does it really matter ? If he balks in a game they will call it.

Remember, Chapman is only 23 and he is still adjusting to life in the US and the demands that go with an MLB career. Eventually, he'll get it figured out. We wish Aroldis the best of luck for a healthy and productive 2012 season.

  • @danburgmc What would be the balk? He's in contact with the rubber and his pause is his natural delivery (not a balk). Am I missing something as to how is delivery is a balk?

  • Update from producer #1 of 2

This was taken in February before spring training. No, he is not throwing 105 in the video, but I've stood next to scouts with their radar guns watching Kelly (Padres 2011 1st round supplemental) throwing 95 and McCullers (#1 Draft prospect for 2012) at 98. Chapman is throwing harder in the video.

Bottom line - regardless of how hard he is throwing, this is an excellent view of the mechanics that produce 105 mph. Hopefully you can learn a few things by watching!

  • @danburgmc "this is an excellent view of the mechanics that produce 105 mph. Hopefully you can learn a few things by watching!"

are you serious? His mechanics are piss terrible. All he does is lift his leg and throw the ball, he's just another lucky guy with a super arm. How can you possibly say his mechanics are good?

  • he gets his momentum early, drives and fully extends his back leg completely at front foot strike, keeps his front hip from opening up before front foot strike, gets great hip-shoulder separation (65 degrees of it) and gets plus core torque, has a stable front leg which allows his to get over his front leg, has great external rotation of his throwing arm (full 180 degrees), and has plus forward trunk tilt at release. Definitely not "piss terrible" mechanics. Plus he's an elite pro-level athlete.

  • @mrpaulie26 it looks like a blunt

  • i bet people love catching him

  • @mrpaulie26 should just be a green line... but thumbs

  • his warmup is my game speed .__________.

  • @Bucboy1001 yeah?

  • @mrpaulie26 Where the led tip ?

  • Have fun pitching 105 60-100 times a sesh and blowing your arm out! :)

  • That's it?

  • i think from those angles, anyone can throw 105 mph.

  • and hes a lefty wow

  • thumbs up if u go to this school and randomly found this

  • Pftf!, thats nothing!, the best Cricket bowlers can do 110.19 mph over 10 times in over 110 degree heat!( or 40 degrees in c)

  • @85Aheadstix The best tennis servers can do 145 mph. The best drag race drivers can do 300+. What's your point? Cricket and baseball are different sports with different balls.

  • defenantly not 105

  • @13smat your right actually, he was clocked at 105.1 mph

  • Left-handed quality pitching is a huge plus for MLB scouts. But that kind of velocity and left-handed? Thats about as rare as it gets. The kid is going to make millions. As long as he plays his cards right? He could probably have 3 good MLB seasons. Then ofcoarse, his body will give out. Then need Tommy John surgery.Because you cannot as a human being continue to throw that fast for more than 2 to 3 years.

  • @MybRainIsBroken32A*ahem Nolan Ryan

  • And I would not want to be this catcher

Ball in the dirt, ahhhhh damn

  • My pitching is so fast no can even catch it.

  • His stride is GIANT! Doesn't he play for the reds?

  • This isn't 105...

Maybe 90 something. Doesn't look like he's giving it his all.

  • @1995baseballkid yeah its says pitcher.. he threw a 105mph before

  • @89tinkerbutt

I know he threw 106 before, if you would read my damn comment. This isn't 105, he isn't throwing as hard as he normally does, in this video.

  • @1995baseballkid yeah but your saying the title misleading. it just states that he threw 105mph so you can call him the 105mph pitcher

  • monster

  • @BBBypsi Neftali Feliz can throw 100mph consistently and I reckon if he risked throwing his arm out he be able to break the 105 mark!! Your comment just makes you out to be an absolute idiot sorry!!

  • his motion is very fluid & effortless looking. I really doubt that he gets 105 mph. It is physically imposible for a human to throw that hard. Might be 96-97 at best.

  • @BBBYpsi proof that it is physically impossible?

  • @BBBYpsi Too bad he wasn't even throwing much on this video... Oh! And modern technology for the high-tech radar guns is COMPLETELY WRONG. Sorry, didn't know that. Thanks for updating me.

  • Not trying to belittle Chapman or anything, but is it actually possible that many other pitchers that can go 95 MPH and possibly more could actually match 105 MPH if they substituted some accuracy for speed?

I mean, you hear about "106 MPH Aroldis Chapman" as if it were a huge feat, but couldn't superb pitchers like Miriano Rivera, James Shields, Jared Weaver, or even Roy Halladay match 105 MPH or so by just substituting accuracy for speed?

And why do pitchers rarely try going 100 MPH+?

  • @Parahdoks92 haha rivera, shields, weaver, and hallady??? they cant touch 100 and none of them are power pitchers. yea some pitchers can but those are horrible examples. now pitchers like verlander, daniel bard, and probably feliz can most likely do it

  • platino

  • damn accuracy and speed + hes a lefty guys a beast

  • i love how he pauses when he bring his foot to the side of the rubber, if i was the catcher id shit at that point, in a batters point of view, itd prolly give an extra second for them to think of what hes throwing, not the best mindset as a batter

  • @builtstrong2lastlong i do the same thing i pause and do the thing with the rubber idk why just somthing ive done for awhile

  • Picture-perfect windup.

  • Comment removed

  • thats not 105

  • @jzmk12

Nobody said it was, it said he was a 105-mph pitcher, which he is, not that he's throwing 105 in this specific video.

  • So, clear this for me. Does one foot NEED to be on that contrete looking line thing his left foot is on? Or does your back foot need to be on it?

  • @AzTheSpaz lol its rubber andboth can be but you need atleast one

  • @TheNYGIANTSFAN00 Cheers for that. I was just wondering, because I was thinking that if they stood as far back as possible, then it would allow that little bit more distance to curve a ball around. I watch baseball from time to time when I see it on, but have never really got that much into it. It's fun to watch when there's nothing on, but i've got no idea what teams are good or hated because they're rich and rivalries and stuff. Cheers. American Football's the only one I follow, really.

  • @AzTheSpaz oh

  • i threw that hard when i was 10

  • poor catcher...

  • Good thing he's gonna start next year. His arm is too precious to be wasted as a set-up man.

  • it would hurt to get hit by that pitch..

  • I love watching him pitch and im not arguing with the way he pitches, but tbh i don't like his delivery. In my opinion he takes a little bit too long to get to his leg kick, and even then, he looks down and completely takes his eye off target. obviously it works for him so it doesnt really matter, but i think with a few minor changes in his delivery he can be much more consistent in his pitches.

  • he throws 100 because he creates 2 stages of momentum in the beginning and the middle of his windup

  • the cathcer is probaly icing his hand and still is

  • the ball looks like it takes as long to get to the plate as when i pitch in this video (im 16 and i throw in the low 70s)

  • lookin like timmys mechanics

  • theres no way in gods green earth this is 105. if it is then i throw damn near 186

  • 0:17 Fastball straight down the Middle, Catcher says " Has it disintegrated yet!? "

  • he's gettin better footing for the leg power he's not lifting it to check his footing..a lot of guys that i pitched with in college did this

  • i wish he could control his fastball , and learn a good breaking pitch . Potenetial is there for a superstar but he is a long way from that

  • @ MichaelHasSwag they are actually right you can balk while in the wind up it happened to me when i was younger

  • 2 people's teams were beaten by the reds when he struck all their players out.

  • its not a balk... its a deadball, just sayin.

  • Some say his changeups are as slow as 100 mph...

  • if your throwing as hard as you can and putting out 105 at max do you think your going to be able to hit your spots every time?

  • @Xxsideshow22xX Did you see the video, obv he can.

  • @nlimskater im talking about the comments and the first pitch he threw was over the guys head i dont think that was a spot

  • @Xxsideshow22xX Yeah, understandable even if he couldn't still amazing speed.

  • He's a pitcher for the reds, chapman threw a 105 during a game, it happened, just probably not in this video because you can't actually tell, everyone just calm down.

  • @bryanfuckem no runners on really.... the pitcher is charged a ball

  • that is not 105 thats like 90

  • @Perreira4 it never said he was throwing 105 in the video.

  • I'll bomb chappy lol. SVTKILR

  • instead of whipping it 105 inaccurately, he should take 10 mph off of it and start painting corners at 95 mph, he will be more successful

  • @djdon20

That's what he's been doing. He rarely gets above 97 any more.

  • @djdon20 Or he'll continue being successful throwing 105 somewhere in the strike zone pitching for about 1 inning per game for the Reds?

  • @djdon20 Seems pretty accurate to me.

  • @djdon20 he shouldnt take ten miles off. thats what separates him from other pitchers is that he can throw 105+miles an hour u dont change something like that its jus that he has to learn to locate his pitch at that speed, and he can.

  • you can't balk from the windup anyway so who cares?

  • i am the catcher who caught him, i have his signature on the glove i used to catch him with in this video, if interested in buying, please contact me at oneinamillion9392@yahoo.com

  • Comment removed

  • base s are loaded u go out of the windup when u start coming home u throw 2 3rd base thats a balk

  • He doesn't use his arm much. only letting his body do the work. hes gonna last a long timee

  • He has an amazing form. Almost as good as the great Randy Johnson's.

  • This dude will be 50 and still be in the high 90's

  • I feel bad for the catcher

  • Comment removed

  • it was actually me catching him, it was pretty sick

  • Does anyone find it ironic that the only guy to get killed by a pitch in the mlb's name was ray CHAPMAN

  • i started using his windup and seems like i throw harder now what hes doing is cocking his shoulders back and just using so much rotaion on his body BTW he is my idol ^.^

  • Yes u can balk in windup. If you comletley stop an noThing is moving it is a balk

  • You may be on to something there. It looks like the left foot comes off the rubber. I think he is just checking his footing and it's not something he would do in a game.

Remember, you can't balk when you're on the DL.

Hope Aroldis can get healthy and start pounding the strike zone a little better than he has.

  • is that not a balk at :22?

  • @tWoodsFan00001 you can't balk in the windup dumbfuck

  • @MichaelHasSwag Why can't you balk when you are in the windup? What if the bases are loaded and the pitcher is throwing from the windup, and he starts his motion and stops or trips or something? That definitely is a balk! Nice try idiot, but you are wrong

  • @MichaelHasSwag of course you can. you cant start the windup then suddenly step off and pick off to third. You shouldnt call people dumb when your wrong haha

  • @MichaelHasSwag ummm ya you can if you step off with the wrong foot or if you stop mid stride then its a balk and it counts as a ball for the batter

  • @Jordanbremer18 correct except for one element. once balk is called, the play is blown dead and the pitch (if one is thrown) does not count. the count remains the same

  • @MichaelHasSwag yeah you can. if you step off with the wrong foot or stop in the middle

  • @MichaelHasSwag actually you can if you step off the rubber with the wrong foot.

  • @MichaelHasSwag yes you can. a common opportunity occurs when there is a runner on third and two outs. many pitchers opt to pitch from the windup then. granted you will probably never see a balk in this situation. however, a movement deemed a balk in other situations will apply in this one

  • GAAAASSSSS

  • Nice video man, that definitely gives us the best look at the mechanic's of someone who throws 105.

  • @boomshuka maybe you should look up aroldis chapman pitching mechanics and not aroldis chapman 105mph pitcher then?
