I can get ~700km per tank on this car if I did about 60% freeway/30% city driving. The Aus version has slightly less power because apparently it is hot over her. Not too sure why it has less power in the US.

in 5th gen there was a "golf r32" with the vr6 engine and 250 hp but in the 6th generation they didnt built an vr6 golf due to envoirmental aspects. but they constructed the all new "golf r" with 2.0 engine and 270 hp. this new golf r isnt on sale in the usa and i dont know if it ever will.
was wondering; does the gti(and all other manual vw's) come with the hill hold assist feature? it just seems like it would be most sensible to put that feature into a manual in general.

I have been waiting for this car for 2 years before i got mine and idk why they are gonna call the R model the R20. y dont they call it the golf R like europe of this comes to the US. if it does come with the R20 badge on it and I get it, im gonna rip it off then put the european R logo
its recommended u put premium in it but if you cant get premium it will run on lower octane because it has a knock sensor. knock sensor automatically changes the timing of the spark so it can run smoothly like it normally does.
I'm glad they didn't change the monza wheels. Sometimes you find that on newer models they change the wheels completely and they turn out to be worse then the previous ones, so well done VW.
this car is better than a lotus exige, because its safer, fun to drive, nicer interior, you can actually listen to music, take more friends, and easy to get in, more comfortable, I can go on. dont get me wrong lotus is very cool, but not too convincing to buy considering the price tag, a couple thousand more and you can buy a corvette, which is more pimpin!!

This car is amazing, drove it as a demo for 9000km. The handling is improved over MK5, interior is in a class of its own, love the refinement of the 18" wheels, exhaust sounds beautiful. Don't feel like you are a less of a man if you go Automatic, the DSG w/ launch control is a joy to drive.

Lights look sleepy with chrome cover on top of the ellipsoids and not aggressive enough- arches should have been a little bigger and wider like the tt - like the interior true gti and not made for one size fits all - truly compact - please get rid of the auto shifter - just no need for it and just leave the paddle shifters on the steering wheel and buttons on the centre console for reverse and park.

@idrinorbarsaku it makes a difference when you go at the end of the day, you can ask for more. My dealer took care of the fees, tags and taxes wich they added up to about 2k. Also the only extrra I got was the sun roof the rest is just the basic.
just got one yesterday, the best way to do it is lease to buy option, and negociate for hours they tried to get me 410 a month I lowered to 280 a month with is not bad cause you have free maintenace for 3 years and also the dealership took care of the fees and taxes.

The 2009 actually comes with more standard options like xenon headlights which you have to pay an extra $750-1000 on the 2010. I got a brand new 2009 8 months ago with every single option including navi (no leather) for $22,500. The 2010 would've come out to 27,650. I'd say get the 2009 while you can there are still some out there.
I was looking at VW's website, and noticed something they call "Driver's Option" as a way to pay. It seems like a hybrid of leasing and financing. Anybody know more about this? Maybe I don't have to sell my kidney to get behind the wheel of this baby after all.
the vr6 is gone well atleast for the golfs. Even the new .:R doesnt use a vr6 but a 2.0 with a bigger turbo. IMO though if you have a mkiv r32 you have the best r of them all im not a big fan of the mkv r
@AskaVWsalesguy i like your thought process. the only thing i'd chance is that they release a limited production of the vr6 people could turbo them but the stinkin' vr6's have too much torque for that anyways.

Very, very classy update of what was already a great car. My Mk5 GTI has been very reliable too. I know this is a sore point with some VW owners. However, the Mk5 GTI was known to suffer from interior rattles. Mine has too, and the dealer service techs can never hear anything when I've taken the car in. Overall though, this package can't be beat. It's essentially the least expensive German performance car you can buy.
i just bought one of these black manual 3 days ago i already got it apr stage 1 chip and this thing flies.... i didnt tell my friend it was chipped and i raced his g35 and burned it lol he was pissed... i love it vw did an amazing job. the best part of this car is the touch screen radio with ipod makes it so much easier to blast the right song

I've got the 2008 4dr. Pissed that I paid in full, I would love this car, why, b/c I too love the fact that it takes on some of the scirrocco characteristics. I love that it is more squared off, love the dual pipes in the back. That's is how they get you always upgrading!!
i have a Civic Si 2006 and I want to trade it for this MKVi. been thinking very very hard if I should, people tell not too because VW isn't the best for reliability and comfort and for me to stay with honda for safety. I know German cars are built like tanks so they are safe and I tested this MKVI back in september fell in love. Torque I love it and I just need more power for the money that im going to spend.

Very, very classy update of what was already a great car. My Mk5 GTI has been very reliable too. I know this is a sore point with some VW owners. However, the Mk5 GTI was known to suffer from interior rattles. Mine has too, and the dealer service techs can never hear anything when I've taken the car in. Overall though, this package can't be beat. It's essentially the least expensive German performance car you can buy.

i just bought one of these black manual 3 days ago i already got it apr stage 1 chip and this thing flies.... i didnt tell my friend it was chipped and i raced his g35 and burned it lol he was pissed... i love it vw did an amazing job. the best part of this car is the touch screen radio with ipod makes it so much easier to blast the right song

i drive a silver 5 door mark iv golf and totally love it. my love for vw came from i was still a kid. my dad had a gti and also a regular golf. i love this one and i would love to have it. way to go vw!

I've got the 2008 4dr. Pissed that I paid in full, I would love this car, why, b/c I too love the fact that it takes on some of the scirrocco characteristics. I love that it is more squared off, love the dual pipes in the back. That's is how they get you always upgrading!!

i have a Civic Si 2006 and I want to trade it for this MKVi. been thinking very very hard if I should, people tell not too because VW isn't the best for reliability and comfort and for me to stay with honda for safety. I know German cars are built like tanks so they are safe and I tested this MKVI back in september fell in love. Torque I love it and I just need more power for the money that im going to spend.
